Brent and Liz's Valentine's day/Anniversary TR: Slippers, Satchels, Special Cinderellas, Surprises, Friends...and Ducks? - UPDATED 3/24 COMPLETE! - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OK, now what's the story about Liz? We want it right
I know, right! Just knowing Brent in person makes that story all the more funny! can't you just see it!!!
Story about Liz........I doubt that is of any interest to anyone. Quite trivial, I am sure!

You are going to love this. She actually did a full belly laugh. I am not sure how we are going to portray this story in written words but I assure you it is hillarious!!

Oh that would be sooooo fun!!!!!! I think we should do something with funny, interactive characters.....Maybe Chef Mickeys or Breakfast at Cape May? Any other ideas?

I'm not going to lie. I did not count one weight watchers point while on vacation!! Not one! I was on vacation for 12 days and gained 4 pounds which I shed within a week and a half. It was worth it. I figured I can re-lose a few pounds, you can't re-do vacation. I ordered dessert with all meals that included it in meal plan. I made an effort to eat more fruit and veggies at buffets. And I did try to go lighter on carby type things like bread, rolls and pasteries. But I ate what I wanted and just dealt with the consequences when I got home.

Yes, they were light blue Cinderella panties. And he did have a baby blue purse......oh, there is some tactful planning on his part! His purse matched his panties! Trouble for nothing!?!?!?!? Oh you know him toooooo well!!!!

Congrats on enjoying your vacay and only gaining 4 lbs. Glad to see it come back off so easily. But that is part of the training that goes with the counting of points. I have also dropped several inches and 30 +/- lbs. Bouncing up and down about 1-1/2 lbs every week. Sorry to see that you have fallen prey to bad influences of PP friends. The cigs sure look real. Was glad to read the disclaimer.

whoot great TR--what was Sheri and the waiter doing? Having a moment or is she searching him for dalmations?
ha ha ha....good question. actually, i met cousin loukili several years ago on another trip with some pp friends. at that time, lou's wife was pregnant with their first child. (i am pretty sure some of you are going to remember this story). another trip a few months later, and some other pp friends were having dinner at prime time, had lou for their server and he quite suddenly disappeared after some frantic apologies....his wife had been in a car accident. omg...so we were all worried about his family (is this sounding familiar to anyone?). many of us here have had cousin lou for a server and he is quite hilarious. anyway, a short time after the accident, i was on one of my daytrips and went to dhs to seek out cousin lou and give him everyone's well wishes. he has remembered the kindness and wishes from all of us. anyway, i think it was one of my "till next time" hugs. searching for dalmations? well, dahlings....cruella may be my mother, but i would only want dalmations for playing and romping around with...puppy kisses are THE best! anyway, for any of you planning a meal at prime time, ask for cousin lou and give him our regards....liz, cindy, brent and myself left a lasting impression i am sure....
Look what came in the mail today! Never received anything like this. I think it was a nice gesture. Makes me want to go back! Hopefully another update in a few days. But I think Liz owes us a couple!
I really want to see a picture of the satchel, I can forgo a pic of the underoos though!
I'm quite certain that you made the day of certain travelers, I'm trying to picture Lily's reaction when I would have stopped pointed and whistled. . .
I wonder what Cinderella would say?
I have to say I was buying a tee shirt the other day for my trip. . .and they didn't have light blue in my size so, sorry, I tried, I had to get pink.

#1. I didn’t even know he did this til I looked at the pictures later:
#2. Then we went back Apartment hunting. After all it is in our plans once we get the kids grown and owe less on our house than what it’s worth to move down here. Liz can transfer her job and I can certainly get a job making sure noone gets out of line around my beloved Cinderella can’t I? Errrrr I mean, “drive the Disney bus” right Liz honey?
#3. Then it was back to Pop where I took some pictures of the construction on the new Art of Animation resort under construction. I think it’s looking pretty good!
#4. We were ushered right in to kind of secluded table near the buffet where the two rooms meet, and our Cinderella came up promptly greeted us by name! Hugs were exchanged and soon the Prince, Step mother and step sisters all came by to see us. It was a late dinner and the place had emptied out a great deal so they all came by several times. Cinderella herself kept coming back so often it was like we were having dinner with her.
#5. Then, the highlight of the evening. Cinderella and the prince came out for their waltz, as they do once a seating in this dinner, and Cinderella left her Charming and came running my way and said “Prince Brent, may I have this dance.” That was quite a moment. I, of course, said yes, and we danced. I was in heaven. I must say while I was dancing with her, I kept thinking how lucky of a man I was. Cinderella came and asked ME to dance, while my lovely wife was rooting me on and taking pictures. Dancing with Cinderella and realizing how lucky I was to have such a wonderful wife, who I managed to find and marry with the help of Cinderella was just too overwhelming and I teared up a bit.
#6. Foreshadowing: What do you think Princess Aurora is laughing about? Satchels Slippers, or ducks?
#1. I did! That is exactly why I snapped so many pics! LOL.. Brent looking all proud and Donald giving him a little "serving of humble".
#2. Yeah, its Brent's idea to wait until the kids grow up and the house is worth more than we owe. My thoughts were....one of the kids turns 18 in 2 months. I say we teach her how to be a responsible renter and move now! The rest of the kids....? I am sure there are schools down there. My job is transferable. Brent would surely find some Cinderella responsibilities to occupy his time. Preferably something that he would get paid for......lol. See.....I have it all figured out.
#3. I can't wait to see Animations fully operational. I have wanted it to be completed for years! I am most anxious to see the Lion King area. I love the Lion King story and the design for that area just looks so lush and welcoming. I really think I will be good lodging at POP and walking over for a visit tho. I am kind of hooked on POP.
#4. This was just the coolest experience. There is no way that was a chance seating. That was planned. They spend the majority of the meal at our table. I don't know what we did to deserve this kind of treatment but it was by far one of the most magical Disney experiences. I know people talk about the Disney special treatments and things such as fast passes and hotel upgrades. This was better than 10,000 fastpasses and an upgrade to the Grand Floridian from a value. You couldn't put together a package of simply monetary items to even begin to give us the magic we were given that night.
#5. The dance was also a big part of that magic. When Cinderella was introduced and she came out, she took a brief bow with Prince Charming and came right to Brent and said "Prince Brent, may I have this dance?". The look on his face was incredible. I was so happy for him that I teared up. I snapped as many pics as I could....it was my own private fairy tale and seemed like no one else was in the room but the two of them and me taking pics. I can't think of anything I would have rather had happen during that meal. "Magical" doesn't even begin to describe it.
#6. Soooo, I can't wait til we get to this Aurora story!!! I love it when you connect with the characters just enough to make them slip from 'character' to 'individual personality' for just that split second. It was really fun.
Oh, and I think it is valuable for me to take note, here and now, to how wonderful Brent was about recognizing my weight loss efforts. Sighhhh. As we were walking to the main building at POP I walked between the large "8" and "0" icons that are part of the "1980" saying near the main building entrance. They are quite close together. I'm not sure I could have done it in the previous years so I thought to myself....."well, I see other people doing it.....so I am" (insert confidence feeling here). Brent turns to me and says "well.....look at that!!!!" I smiled knowing he noticed. . Then he says "We didn't even have to grease you up this year". So I had to slap him up a bit and then it was all good! LOL. This is just the way we joke. Some of our friends don't understand it. We tend to live in the moment and joke about everything.......even stuff most people would not find humorous.
Anxiously awaiting the next update!!!! Its going to get sooooo funny!!!

Liz, I agree totally! Why wait? I'm a nurse as well (ER), and they need nurses! My DH (Chuck) would so totally sweep streets or whatever. But he has his real estate license, so I say he can get a job selling DVC. We have no excuse because our kids are grown and gone. The only thing is the housing market. We couldn't sell our place for what we owe either.

Congrats again! Chuck and I would joke like that! Maybe it's because we are all in medicine (Chuck is in Ortho) that our humor is warped. Or may because we are all from MI? But hey - you know you're doing good!

My DH, Jamie and I joke like that too and our close friends know we are joking and find it funny too but other people are totally shocked by it.
