We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Glad Selah enjoyed Star Tours! She's turning into quite the daredevil! Great pictures from your day! Glad Asher got to do Jedi Training Academy, and was part of the flash mob!
Thanks! She sure is! We were so glad that he was able to get into the Jedi Training. He had so much fun and flash mob was really .

The Jedi Academy was really cool! Maybe Alex will want to do it if he sees it a bunch. The hijacking was hilarious!

Thanks! It was all really awesome! I have never seen them do a flash mob so that was totally unexpected and really cool. TGMR story is one that we won't forget. So funny.

I wish I had a picture of the look on her face when we went into light speed. It was so cute. She had the biggest grin. I was so happy to find my sunglasses. I did not want to have to buy a pair there but I would have.

I am totally cracking up about Wanda thinking the gangster was too rude.
I'm glad that Selah enjoyed Star Tours. The new ride is really awesome and after several rides on it at both WDW and DLR, I finally saw the only scene I hadn't seen before (Coruscant) on our recent trip to DLR!
And I'm really glad Asher got into JTA! He sounds like a great big brother and I'm glad he got to do something he was really excited about. That is the same Jedi Master that led it when Peter and Jacob participated back in 2009. Even when we are at WDW without kids, we always stop to watch this show when we are in the area because it's fun to watch the kids, and I can tell you with certainty that this Jedi Master is the best one! He is great with the kids but also puts in these little zinger comments that are funny to the adults and fly right over the kids' heads.
Thanks! I accomplished my goal with the teasers.
The whole time the gangster was with us he was talking to Selah but he kept making comments to Wanda and I can't remember any of them but when we got our regular driver back Wanda said, "I'm so glad you are back! I do not like that other guy."
Awesome you got to see Coruscant! We didn't see that.
We really liked the Jedi Master he was really funny.

Selah's day did get much better! Asher had a great time at the Jedi Training and we were so glad he got in especially since he will probably feel too old to do it the next time we go. Or actually be too old. I think it is only to age 12. Our snacks were very delicious.

We did have a great time at DHS! Maybe the next time you go back you will make it there. Then you can check out the Jedi Training.

I bet the gangster thing can be a little scary if you've never done it before and don't know it's going to happen. Travis was a little freaked at first - of course he's only 11! LOL
We did have a great time! You are right about the gangster thing. Asher was freaked out the first time he saw it but he was only 2.

We were in the front row right next to the gangster and Caden (he was 7) kept telling him to get off the car and be a nice man. It was so funny! I can't wait to go on Star Tours. I haven't done it since the rehab either.
That is funny he kept telling him to get off the car! Too bad you didn't have video of that!

That's great that Stephanie likes Star Tours! I am really looking forward to following along with your TR on your trip this summer! No pressure.

Day 2 Hollywood Studios Part 3. A Parade, A Fire, An Elevator and Two Crazy Guys 1/30
Wanda gets back from shopping just as the flash mob is finishing up. She was sad that she missed it but I tell her, " you never know what is going to happen at Disney World". We all get settled in for the parade and the people are crowding in. We are doing pretty good at keeping people from being right on top of us. Then Jamie tells me there is a little girl behind him that he is going to let up there with us when the parade starts. He already told her mom and she was very grateful. He was waiting because he knew that as soon as he moved his body people were going to move in closer and he was trying to avoid that as much as possible. We hear the parade coming and he turns to the mom and little girl and tells her to come on up and she is now a little shy. I was trying to make more room up there so her mom could come too but there just wasn't any to be made. The mom was encouraging her to go up there and two girls who were standing close by, but could see fine where they were, pushed past Jamie and sat in the little girls spot! They were very much on top of me and pushing me into Selah's stroller. We were all so irritated. Jamie offered the mom and daughter his spot but she declined and said she could move over now and see better from where the two girls had moved from. We could just not believe those two girls. They were probably around 10 or 11 and I have no idea where their parents were. So frustrating. Fast forward to almost the end of the parade. On the other side of the stroller where Asher is sitting is a little girl standing behind him and beside Selah. She was probably 5 and her mom was right behind her. Asher had offered to let her sit beside him but she said she wanted to stand to see better. She seemed happy with her spot. Well, as I said, she is standing next to Selah, who is in her stroller and Selah reaches out and pushes her. The little girl was fine and she just stepped forward some when it happened but I felt so bad. The mom looked at me like, "what was that for?!" and I couldn't blame her for that. I would have too. I explained to her, while holding Selah's hands and feet that she has special needs and does not understand what she is doing. She was just trying to play with the girl. I guess she thought the girl must be her friend since she was standing so close. Selah had a very big smile on her face like she was happy to make a big friend but I don't think the mom was too happy with us. I was just glad the girl was fine. I was also very ready for that parade to be over.
After the parade we decide to go check out the times at Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror since we were right there by it. It was a long wait for both of them so we grabbed FP's for ToT and just hoped that we could get on RnRC later with shorter waits. Then we decided to go get another ride in on TSMM. Selah was in a great mood and we wanted her to experience it without first crying. We had a shorter wait this time and Selah was happy the whole time. She loved it when it would spin around. This time Asher was with Wanda and Jamie and I were with Selah.
I forgot to mention that we do not get lunch this day. We just snacked some instead. After having the big breakfast we just were not real hungry for lunch.
After TSMM Jamie saw there was a Lights Motors Action show starting soon. We made our way that way stopping at the Coke Can for a frozen coke along the way. That was very yummy. We were led into the stadium and to an elevator because we had the stroller. We had great seats up on the second level but not too far up. Selah was able to stay in her stroller and do stickers while the rest of us could enjoy the show. Jamie, Asher and I have seen the show but it was 5 years ago the last time. The last time we saw it Herbie was in it. We did not know they had changed it to Lightning McQueen. We all love Lightning McQueen but in the show his part is sure not action packed. I think I might like Herbie a little better as far as in that show. Asher loved it though. Selah did her stickers the whole time but she loved the show too! Anytime there was an explosion she was all smiles. She loved the loud cars and the fire too. Something happened during the show that we have never seen before. Jamie and I both thought it was just part of the show at first but quickly realized that was not planned. One of the black stunt cars caught on fire when the car was on the audience side of the water. The crew ran in and pulled the driver out and worked at getting the fire out. It was not a big fire or anything. We saw more smoke than anything but it took them about 10 minutes before they could get back to the show. They had to bring in a big forklift to pick up the car and take it out. It was very interesting to see how they handled it all.
After the show we headed over to the Backlot Tour. We have always liked this ride and Wanda had seen it in commercials so she really wanted to do it. Because it is such a long attraction I wasn't sure how Selah would do. We decide to just go ahead and give it a try. We made sure we had some snacks for her to hopefully help to keep her happy. We all enjoyed the ride. Selah didn't really pay attention to anything and we did have to break out those snacks but she did like Catastrophe Canyon. Anything that's wild and crazy for our wild and crazy girl.
After we finished the tour it was time for some supper. We like several of the CS places here but Pizza Planet is Asher's favorite, pretty much just because it is Pizza Planet from Toy Story. So Pizza Planet it is. We have not had pizza that week so it really sounded good to all of us. We got there just before the crowds hit. There was no one in line until we got in line then there were tons of people. That was ok though because we were first. Selah and I went and grabbed a table and I got her seat ready while Jamie, Wanda and Asher got the food. It was very yummy, nice, relaxing meal. We were on the bottom floor and no one else was sitting around us. We took our time and enjoyed it. When we finished it was time for our FP's at TSMM but Selah was ready to go back to the resort. Well, if you remember from the first night Wanda was not driving anywhere so Jamie had to take them back to the resort. We didn't think it would be very easy for her to deal with Selah on the bus so that's why we opted for that. While Jamie was gone Asher and I got in line for Phineas and Ferb! The line for them had been long all day and we knew that Selah was not going to make it through that line. I was really disappointed about that because she does know who they are. I thought she would enjoy them but we were not going to attempt it. When Asher and I got in line it was shorter than we had seen it all day long but it still took us 30-45 minutes to get through that line. While we were in line a family came up to the exit with 3 kids, one of which was in a wheelchair and he was obviously disabled developmentally and possibly physically. The CM brought the family in to see Phineas and Ferb through the exit so they would not have to wait in the line. I thought this was great that the family was able to do that but I wondered how. I know the GAC doesn't work on the character lines so I don't know. Maybe they just asked. Whatever the reason, this is just one more reason we love Disney.
Once it was Asher's turn to see them he had his and Selah's pillowcases while I was working the camera. He had so much fun with them. They wanted to sign them at the same time while he held both of them for him and they were just being crazy the whole time. Asher was so happy he waited in that line to see them.
When we finished we called Jamie to see where he was. He was just getting to the resort so we went over to see if they would let us use our FP's at TSMM. EMH had just started so our FP's were expired but we had wanted to ride with Jamie and were hopeful he was going to get back in time. They expired at 7 so I told Asher we would just have to ask but if they said no then we would wait for Jamie to get back and get in the standby line with him. When we got to the ride they never even questioned it they just sent us on through. Then I got a text from Jamie saying he was walking into the park right then and I told him to come over to TSMM. After Asher and I got off Jamie and Asher got on with the other two FP's. Again, no questions asked. After TSMM we headed over to ToT to see if we could use our FP's there. We got the same response and were in our elevator in no time. Now Asher starts getting nervous as we are walking through to the elevator. He talks about all the reason why we probably just shouldn't ride it. He is really getting himself worked up about it but he still gets on.
Up Next: What Does Asher Think of ToT? Will He Get On RnRC? How Does Our Night End?
Sometimes dealing with rude, pushy people at the parades (can't believe those two girls!) makes me just give up. Whenever I spend the time to stake out a special spot at the last minute some "entitled" group always shows up and squeezes me, steps on my scooter, wiggles in front of me. I do speak to them, but the arguments are not worth it to me. You are really having luck with all the rides today-- what a lot you're getting done!
Love the pictures of Selah at the Lights, Motor, Action show! She looks so happy!
And I just love how Asher is really into everything there. His enthusiasm really adds something special to your TR.

Parades and rude people, so irritating but we don't let them ruin our fun. We were doing great with the rides! Of course, having the GAC for Selah was the reason for that.

Thanks for joining in! I have been enjoying your PTR and WILL be looking for the TR.
The reveal was pretty awesome. The look on his face when he realized it was for real was priceless. We loved our room at POR too! It was our first time staying on property which will make picking a different resort next time tough. We loved it so much! Asher really enjoyed the murphy bed. That first moment when Selah saw Mickey and Minnie was awesome. It was like, "you're real, you're really real!" She was so excited. We won't forget that moment. The Jedi Academy and the flash mob were really cool. I have never seen them do a flash mob before. The cupcakes are definitely on our list for next time.

All caught up! Too bad about the rude People at the parade, it really does make the parade a little less magical. What a great rest of the day though. Hope Asher likes ToT.
Since we got our CD in I am going to post the pics that we have taken so far on the trip to get you all caught up.
Selah showing her chewelry to Belle. Chewelry is jewelry that can be chewed so they do not chew other things. Selah put 4 holes in a shirt in less than an hour one day.
