left with 2 good ones came back with one-trip report-forgot something 5/8 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow, Amy! Haven't seen you post on here in years! Welcome back.
Hi, Nancy! It has been a while! I didn't figure anyone would remember me it's been so long. I've kept in touch with a several of my old PP buds over the years through other avenues. When we were doing our DVC research earlier this year I used a lot of the info in the Owning the Magic forum to make our decisions. As soon as I had 2 WDW trips booked this year, I ran out and got a shiny new 2010 PassPorter (STILL the absolute best guidebook!) and thought I'd pop in over here and start reading some TRs to get me in the mood. It's nice to see so many familiar faces still enjoying the magic.

I've just found your gem of a TR and I have to say you've had me nearly spitting out my pop on several occasions! My DH has fond memories of marching down Main Street w/ his high school band *cough* 18*cough* years ago- it is so cool your boys got to do that! And Miss Shelby is downright delightful!! Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures.
Thanks!, Great to see you Amy!! how are your sons? getting bigger every day I bet?
Shelby just reminded me of something that happened at Typhoon Lagoon that I didn't mention. (She's home from school sick with a cold)
Shelby & Jim had gone on Humunga Kowabunga & she said as the 'ride' started to get steep for some reason she put her arms & legs out to stop herself.. scraping them on the tube in the process.. photos later in the TR
Thanks!, Great to see you Amy!! how are your sons? getting bigger every day I bet?
Thanks, Ann! The kiddos are doing great- and yes, growing like weeds. Xander is about to turn 4 at the end of June, finishing up his first year of preschool. Matthew was 2 last November and is doing his best to catch up with his big brother. Life is really, really good here. I can't get over how big your kids are- but you know, 6 years will do that!
Wanted to share some of the photos Brendan & his girlfriend, Megan took..
Bren & his GF, Megan
Brendan & his friend Nikki
Bren & Megan
more Bren & Megan.
My absolute FAVORITE pic of Brendan & Megan... Their friend Kelly took this photo & they didn't realize until after that just at the moment she snapped the picture the fireworks went off behind the castle.. How
Since I shared Brens photos ( & Shelby's throught the TR) I figured I'd better share some of Jamie.. he didn't take any pics so these are his friend, Kevin's
Jamie, Ashley & Kevin @ T-Rex
DTD part of the group who had dinner at T-Rex.. I think there were 15 in all who went.
Jamie & Kevin said they wanted this..(see them in the reflection) ya right at $25000.00 no way!
Room hijinks with one of his roomates Josh.. they wrestled to see who would get the bed or the floor .. Jamie won
Kevin also has a ton of Jamie with hidden mickeys .. Finding hidden mickeys was part of an assignment one of their teachers gave them instead of actual homework.. Of course Jamie didn't tell ME about it until we were IN WDW.. I could have given him my Hidden Mickeys book.. the kids said they had a better time trying to find them on their own,... I'l have to get a couple of the hidden mickeys photos.. they were really cool
love this pic.. it looked like an old disney postcard but actually it's the kids band director & his daughter ..
Day 6 coming up.. just getting all of my photos in order...

They make a very nice couple! And yes, that is a very cool picture. The one you posted before that is IMO a bit mroe frame-worthy, though ... the overall composition (and lighting/color values) is superior.
Jamie & Kevin said they wanted this..(see them in the reflection) ya right at $25000.00 no way!
Our friend Jeremy literally did a double-take, and CHOKED, when we showed him this .. and then the pricetag. I mean, cartoon-style double-take-and-choke. I've wished ever since, that I'd had my camera ready ...

OH. MY. GOD!
That is an incredibly awesome and AMAZING picture!!!
You know, I think very much, if I were him, that I'd be sending that in to Disney. I bet they'd love to use it in an advertising campaign, and comping the guy and his daughter a super-VIP-day at MK would be chump change for Disney.
Seriously, picture one of the ACTUAL old Disney posters (with date), and then THIS picture (with date), and the motto/whatever: "The best things in life are timeless".
It was cool every plane seat had a WM Titan cover on the back.. (I think Jamie brought 40 of them home)
de-planeing ( is that even a word?)
You've heard throught this report me mention my Friend Donna whose daughter, Lauren is good friends with Jamie.. they took the boys to the school for disney.
Well, they didn't get any pictures together I did find this one of Lauren & their friend Natalie.. lauren is in the yellow
We had 8:15am ADR's for Kona Cafe. While making my ADR's for this trip I debated where to go for our additional breakfast. I wanted CP but it wasn't available.. plus I wanted to try a lot of places I hasn't been before so I couldn't make up my mind between Grand Floridian cafe to try to Lobster Eggs Benedict or Kona Cafe to try the Tonga Toast.. Well, Tonga Toast won as the reviews on that were out of this world! And Jim loves Pressed pot of coffee.
We took the bus to MK & then the monorail over to Poly.. it was too cold to try go on the boats .
We were seated fairly quickly & got our juice & our pressed pot. I was surprised that Kona Cafe looked so much like a cafeteria.. ( DUH! didn't the 'cafe' in the name give it away, Ann?) Jim ordered the Big Kahuna, I ordered the tonga toast & Shelby got pancakes.
When my food came WOW! thats a lot of bread I loved it.. If I had one complaint it's that it be smaller & the sweetness be tempered with eggs or oatmeal or something else. yes, I know I got sausage with the meal but I think eggs or oatmeal with it would have cut the sweet taste in my mouth.. It was very filling & I wouldn't hesitate to order it again.
After Kona Cafe we went to get on the monorail & the CM stationed at the door said all resort monorails were temporarily suspended as they had a large crowd of people at TTC. He told us the boats were running so we went down to get the boat & that line was about 60 people deep. I realized that the Easter crowd had arrived.
Got in line & after about 10 minutes the same CM came down & said the monorail was running if anyone wanted to go on there. One man got so angry & said "You sent us down here, now you want us to go back, this is ridiculous" The CM replied "I just thought you would want to know so as to not stand in this line.." & then jokingly (in a funny pouty way) he said "And I ran all the way down here to tell you" THe grumpy guy didn't laugh but I thought it was funny & walked back with him.. he said he was sorry we had to walk twice. WE told him we didn't mind & thanked him for running down to get us..
When we got on the monorail it was PACKED.. people were so squished. the lines at TTC were outrageous! No way was I going to attempt to go to MK today..I hadn't planned on it anyway.. we were going to Blizzard Beach today
It was only 9:30 so we planned on going back to POFQ to get our suits & relax for a little while.
WEnt to the buses & saw there was a POFQ bus sitting there. We went to get on & he told us that the POFQ buses don't run until 11am.. He told us to go on POR bus to get back to FQ.
We walked across & get in the POR bus line where of course, there was no bus waiting. Another lady joins us & she too is FQ. About 15 minutes later the bus comes & I tell him we are going to FQ & he tells me I have to go to the FQ stop, I explain what the FQ bus driver told us & he gets angry & said "HOLD ON! I've never heard of this, let me go see whats going on.." I was taken aback at his attitude.. did he think we were making this up?? He goes out & gets the bus coordinator CM ( don't know what his title is. .the guy with the clipboard who organized the buses at MK) the bus driver is screaming at him asking why he has to take us to FQ, the coordinator is telling him why but I couldn't hear him. Bus driver huffs & puffs at him for about 10 minutes. At this point I'm angry myself.. we have now waited way too long..& more importantly.. get a grip buddy.. they're so close by, it's not out of your way.
He gets back on the bus & says to us "I guess I have to take you to FQ" then proceeds to drive like a crazy person.. he had to be exceeding the speed limit & was taking turns like crazy..
Jim kept saying "this is why I hate the buses"
Got back to our room in one piece ( no thanks to the driver) & got ready for Blizzard beach
