As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Can I ask a couple of questions? What kind of transfers do you use for your shirts? Mine never come out that good! And how do you make door magnets?
I used the dark t-shirt transfers. I got mine from Wilton (at Michael's) but I know Avery has some out there. I think there are also "stretchable" ones, which are better because mine are already starting to pucker. As for the magnets, I got magnet paper (glossy) from Staples.....I think it was $13 for 4 sheets (8.5x11). You can get it cheaper online, but I didn't have time for shipping. I got the graphics off the DIS boards, and then added our names and stuff in Microsoft Publisher. It was my first time working with Publisher, and it was pretty easy to use.
Great update Marnie! I am hoping to spend alot of time sipping wine on the verandah next week!!
Matt sounds alot like my husband when it comes to packing. I have started having him show me what he is bringing to make sure he brings the right stuff.
Day 5 – Sunday, August 23, 2009 – We make it to brunch, it’s hotter than Hades, and some fishing to boot!
Ok, I forgot some things from yesterday! When we entered our stateroom for the first time, we also had the Castaway Club gifts on the bed, although apparently I didn’t take a picture of them. It was a tote bag, a mesh backpack, 2 drinking cups with lids, a small notebook, and some things for the kids (colored pencils in a pencil case with some stencils, I think). I also forgot our pictures from Parrot Cay last night.
Ok, back to Sunday morning…………I was up around 6:30. I guess I’m just not destined to sleep late. We decided to go up to Topsiders for breakfast, since it was just right up the stairs. On our last cruise, we had always eaten breakfast at Triton’s, as that was right down the stairs from our stateroom, so this was a welcome change. I think I liked the fact better that I could pick and choose what I wanted to eat! I didn’t eat too much, since we had brunch at Palo’s at 10. DH seemed to miss that notice, and loaded up his plate to the gills! I don’t’ remember what we did after breakfast……I think the kids might have played with their LEGOs or we walked around the ship a bit. We then got the kids ready to go to the kids clubs, checked them in, and headed up to Palo.
We were first in line when they opened the doors. Our server was Andrea, who would end up being our server for all our meals at Palo! She took us on a tour of all the food (I’ve never seen so much food) and then it was our turn to grab a plate and fill it up! DH had a Mimosa, and I had a glass of champagne (complimentary). We didn’t want to drink too much since we had planned on going out to Key West after brunch.
My gosh. The food was just too much, and it was never ending! Delicious! I even tried caviar (BLECH)! At least I can say I’ve had it now! I’m so glad we got to experience brunch since we missed it on our last cruise! We rolled out of Palo, and got ready for Key West. The closer we got to Key West, the bluer the water got!
We had gone up to Pinocchios and Pluto’s to get the kids some lunch, and ate it back in the room. We docked at KW right around 12:30. Our really only plan for the day was to do the trolley tour and go to the Southernmost Point and get our picture taken. I had booked the trolley tour online before we left, which saved a few bucks. Once we got off the ship, I realized that I didn’t have my camera, for some reason. So I went all the way back up to the 8th deck (via the stairs) and then down again! Exhausted! Once back outside, we were hit with the UNBEARABLE humidity! Ugh! I’m not sure if it was because we had a cooler than normal summer (it had finally reached 90 a few days before we left for Florida) or what, but the heat was just insane! We walked over to Mallory Square and found the trolley!
We had just missed a trolley, so we walked around the square a bit, took a bathroom break, and tried to stay cool!
Finally a trolley came along (they run every 30 minutes) and we hopped on to the back. I just started snapping away at things, not really knowing what I was taking pictures of most of the time! Sorry in advance!

We got off at stop 10 (Southernmost point) and needed to get some water. I had brought water in the covered cups that we had got in the CC gift, but Colin wouldn’t drink it because he didn’t like the taste! Between the heat and just being tired, Colin almost fell asleep in the trolley. This wasn’t going to be good for his mood! There was a little shop near the trolley stop, so we stopped and got some bottled waters, and Matt got a coconut water.
We started our walk down to the point, which wasn’t that far. We came across a car with a license plate from ALASKA! And we passed this mailbox!
We had about a 10 or 15 minute wait to get our picture taken, which was long since it was HOT and the kids were melting. Finally it was our turn. See how cooperative Colin is being! NOT!
We had passed an cute ice cream shop on the walk down, so we had planned to stop at that, but we could see the next trolley had arrived at the stop, so we ran so we didn’t have to wait another 30 minutes for the next one. We made it onto the full trolley. The kids ended up sitting up front, which at least kept Colin more awake, although they said it was even hotter up there! We continued on with the tour and were soon back in Mallory Square.
Trolley tour done, it was time for another bathroom break. I’d highly recommend the trolley tour. We got to see the island and got some narration along with it. The guides were fantastic…..full of information and funny as well. Definitely worth the money! We then got some ice cream and slushies at a stand across from the Mallory Square trolley stop and next to the Pirate Museum. I had a key lime slush! We sat in the shade for a while and rested and cooled off! I never got my key lime pie on a stick. I was too hot, and too full from brunch, so that was a disappointment! L
Matt and Colin were going to go fishing (where, I don’t know, nor did I want to know since it was just off a dock somewhere), so Alexa and I headed back to the boat. We needed some airconditioning! I took more pictures along the way.
Alexa and I made it up to the room, and just after we had reached the room, Matt called. He forgot something (lures maybe?) so I had to bring those down to him. I was certainly getting my exercise. That was up and down 8 decks 3 times today (no elevator for us)! I think Alexa and I got some drinks on Deck 9, and maybe some fruit, before we got ready for dinner. Matt had called again, saying they caught 4 fish (small ones that they released). I have video of this…….I just need to figure out how to upload it to You Tube and then I’ll link it. Just as Alexa and I were heading out to dinner (Lumiere’s tonight) they boys arrived back in the room, so we waited for them to change, and then headed down to dinner.
Our tablemates didn’t show up for dinner tonight (we found out later they went to Palo) so we had it all to ourselves. Colin had his usual pizza. Ali was very good, he would always bring Colin’s meal out right away. Alexa decided she was old enough, so she would wait to eat with us. I think Alexa had the chicken strips or spaghetti and meatballs. I had the jumbo shrimp, an avocado-citrus salad, and beef tenderloin. Matt had the escargots (which Alexa tried), soup, and the sea bass (which I think both kids tried). I don’t remember what dessert was, probably crème brulee. I took pictures of the menu, and it’s different than the one on CastawayClub.com.
We headed back up to the room and rested. I wanted to go up to the top deck and take some pictures of the sunset, since we had started to leave the Port so now the verandah was on the wrong side of the ship. Everyone else stayed in the room.
It was a beautiful sunset! We decided to go to the show tonight. Actually, we didn’t give Colin a choice. It was the comedy of Ron Pearson (who Alexa and Matt had seen the night before) and he was fantastic! What a great show! I think that was it for the night. I watched some of the Red Sox/Yankees game, since it was on EPSN before going to bed. We had to turn the clocks back one hour, so we’d see how that would go with my getting up early.
The weather today was……..HOT and HUMID, low 90s
The best thing today was……Colin catching a fish.
The worst thing today was…….the heat and humidity.
Today we tried……..Key West
And the result was…….we need to spend more time here!
The most magical moment today was……watching the sunset over Key West!
What a great day - and perfect timing. I was only trying to decide this morning whether we should do the Trolley Tour of Key West this morning. My mind's made up now - we'll go for it.
Now were those the crowds at Mallory Square for the sunset? I'm guessing they were - in which case, I think I might book the sunset cruise I was thinking about this morning..

Yes, those were the sunset crowds! I wish the ship pulled out a little later so you could experience the whole thing!
Fabulous pictures Marnie!! At least with all that exercise there was no need to worry about what you were eating - you could have as much as you wanted .

What a wonderful day, depsite the heat. Loved all the picutures. The trolley tour definitely sounds like it is a worthwhile excursion. We have been looking at a cruise (a 4 day) for next year and I really love the idea of stopping at Key West so I really think I will be considering the 5 day with key West...it looks beautiful.
All your sunset pictures were amazing...I love this one, the lighting is just perfect.
