Adventures Down Under take on the World!!!!!!!!! A Pre Trip Report Jan 2008 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

If I had to choose 2, they would probably be Concourse Steakhouse and the new Tusker House. It'll be your last chance to eat at Concourse. I've heard mixed reviews and the most common complaint I've heard dealt with noise from Chef Mickey's, not the food. I would try the new Tusker House just because it's new and I heard wonderful things about it when it was counter service. Your plans look great so far! Not much longer now!
Wow...two more days of dining (how much better can it get )
I woudl recommend the Garden Grill - we loved it and while we were not going there for the food as much as for the atmosphere were found ourselves enjoying the meal so much...we were not fish eaters so they gave us the steak and turkey which were both great...
The bread was soooo good and the dessert was fun for the kids and a nice selection....
I would also probably try the Tusker House....I think it would be fun to try it...
Garden Grill is our favorite character meal! We've also experienced good meals at 50's PTC. I cannot comment on the others, as we've never been. Can't wait to hear what you decide
3rd January Chef Mickey's dinner
4th January CHefs de France dinner
5th January Akershus dinner
6Th January Kona Cafe dinner
7th january Le Cellier dinner
8th January Coral Reef dinner
9th January Tusker House dinner
10th January Boma dinner
11th January 1900 Park Fare breakfast our 4th wedding anniversary with alice!
12th January WCC breakfast
I decided to go with Akershus and Tusker House. I really want to get my princess photos so that is why i chose Akershus and i also love AK and i want to make sure i experience it at night time, thus choosing Tusker house.
In exactly 32 mins it is my 27th birthday . I am so excited because now it is only 75 days until we go to WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only down side is that i am a teacher and i go back to school tomorrow after 2 weeks holiday. Oh well and least i get to spend the day with my little chickens. we will have fun.
I saw all the family today so i got my pressies early. They all think i am insane for my disney obsession, but as i tell them, they all encourage it as each of them bought me something disney.
Murray (DH)- a goofy statue for my disney collection and a statue of mickey and pluto.
My sister- A 50th anniversary disneyland castle trinket box, it is beautiful
My parents a depertment 56 mickey mouse light up christmas house, they got in in San Fran last month, now i just have to get a power converter so i can use it with out blowing something up
My SIL- minnie mouse perfume form london
My MIL- $50US!!!!!...she is so cute, when she went to the bank in australia, she asked if she could please get $50 disney dollars. The man had know idea what she was talking about and laughed at her....so did i for that matter...i had told her about disney dollars and she thoght maybe a bank in AUSTRALIA might have them hahahaha
i will try to post photos of my pressies later...i am not to good at uploading the photos.
Happy birthday, Disney gifts are the best! Your Chip and Dale experience is so sad...I guess that will be all the more reason for me not to wander where I shouldn't be. If I saw Cinderella taking a swig of beer or something I think I would have a major meltdown.
We will be hotel buddies for one night...we are arriving at Pop on the 12th.

Sorry I didn't write back sooner to your questions on my PTR but your choices for ADRs are fab. I say the same thing to everyone- if you take the time to pick things out that particularly you will have a great time no matter what!
As far as DDP, we didn't spend much extra money. Used the TS for Dinner, QS for lunch and Rob bought a $6 per day breakfast platter while I used a snack and got a fruit bowl for bfast. So that would bring us to $6 a day. Remember now that tips are not included for dinner and that there aren't appetizers at dinners either. I am starting a diet that is hopefully to end at our May trip so my reward is going to be bfast, lunch, and dinner on deluxe ddp and robs favorite part of wdw is food so he welcomed the upgrade. You will def save on the overall with ddp.
Happy Birthday Jess!!! Seems you had a beautiful day with your family. Wishing you all the very best on your special day!!!!
Hugs and kisses from Isa & family!!!!

Hi Mel,'
thanks for all you advise so far i dont know what i would do without your help!!!
With the tips, do i ahve to pay cash? is that how it works? I am so new to this whole tips thing as we dont tip in Australia.

Universal and IOA over NYE---Help please!
1. I will be arriving at MCO at 6:30pm. I am planning on taking a taxi to our hotel Fairfield inn and suites (canada ave). How much will this be?
2. I will hopefully going to be in a park by around 8:30pm on the 30th of Dec. Which park would be best to go to crowd wise???
3. The 31st of December...New Years Eve. I plan to be at the parks before openiing. Am i bets to go to IOA and do the big rides first and then hop to Universal studios??
What will the crowds be like early in the morning????
4. New Years Day... IF i go to IOA before park opening willl i be ojkay of will there still be huge crowds????
We only have these 2 days to do the parks as we are then going to WDW and dont wont to have to go back to US or IOA.
DO you think it is possible?
Any help will be much appreciated
