The Mighty Morphing Birthday Trip - Thread 1 - COMPLETE (last update 7/30) - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Excellent nerdy notes. I too am very impressed. And as a nerdy planner myself I am now breaking out in a cold sweat at the thought of my idea to 'take things easy and go with the flow'. Aaargh. I'm going all cold turkey just thinking about it.

that's it... I'm totally feeling bad about myself now My planning skills seem so novice! I'm going to staples today to get some notecards...lots and lots of notecards
I think it's the teacher in me that loves my notecards. I think all teachers should own some stock in post-it notes (of all sizes) and index cards (of all sizes and color)
Just read your Pre-trip report from the beginning and loved every bit of it! You and Andy are going to have such a magical time staying at the WL. It's my favorite deluxe to stay at and I think you'll find it very romantic. The notecards are a great idea - one that I plan on using for my Dec. trip thanks to you! All your ADR's look yummy. Can't wait to hear about your trip when you return.

I am definitely doing the notecards. I left the passporter in the room one day and was lost as to which counter service I had wanted to try!!! From then on I had to carry the Passporter into the parks with me. I certainly could have used notecards.
I the notecard idea! I too am working off a large spreadsheet that I was initially using to track my DDP credits and has now gotten a little out of control! Thanks for sharing your "nerdiness" with the rest of us.
I'm thoroughly enjoying your pre-trip report. Can't wait to hear about the surprises you and Andy have in store for one another!
I made note cards for our second trip, and one night saw Grumpy looking at them over and over again. After about his fifth time through them, I asked what he was looking for. His response was "I'm trying to find the time you penciled me in to go to the bathroom". !
Nala, on our 2 party trip, my friends husband asked me "Hey, I know you wrote in some nap times on the schedule. How come I haven't gotten to take a nap yet?" Hmm, maybe cause you started the day 2 hours behind???
Melissa, I love the note cards! I do daily plans on a spreadsheet, then cut each days plans out and laminate them for easy travelling!

Well, the time is almost here....and I've decided that this is probably going to be the LONGEST week ever. Andy actually said I should take the logo for the VH1 show "Best Week Ever" and change it to "Longest Week Ever" I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved our honeymoon and I really looked forward to it, and I've looked forward to every trip we've taken, but for some reason, I am REALLY looking forward to this one. Perhaps it's because of the amount of nerdiness that went into the planning, or all the changes that have occured along the way, or perhaps it's the few surprises we have for each other tucked in the trip.... whatever the case may be, I can't friggin' wait!
So here are some final preparations to bore you with.
First off, here are my mousekeeping envelopes I made. I use the template somebody provided and then made my own graphics. I made some like this for our AKL trip 2 years ago, had leftovers for last trip, so I made a few new ones for this one...
Do you think they'll be able to tell who my favorite character is???
I made a fax to send to the WL. It has a few little things that we'd like to have, but I'm still debating on sending it. I don't want to limit ourselves. I keep thinking, what if we're one of the lucky ones who check in early and get upgraded b/c they need to make space??? And what if my fax keeps that from happening?? And then I think, if I don't fax it we might get a ground level room which I really don't like anywhere....and we might be looking at a rooftop somewhere... I don't know what to do I'm posting my fax...I was trying to be as vague as possible What do you think I should do???
I went and got my hair trimmed up today. Andy said it was looking scraggly...well it should buddy... I ain't had a haircut since flippin' December That's what long hair has done for me...made me forget I need to get a haircut So I'm all ready in that dept.
I need to take a dress to the cleaners so I can wear it out on Saturday night to La Nouba. I plan on doing that tomorrow. I already cashed my supplement check (God bless the timing of the supplement checks...June and Nov.) And I cashed in all our change. The State Educator's Credit Union now has a change machine and they don't charge members to use it. The lady said it'll be worn out soon, you can always tell the teachers who come in the summer and cash in all their change. My DMIL gave me about $30 more in change over the weekend so I need to cash it in as well.
So a few more little things to do, wash every piece of clothing we own, well not every piece, I mean we don't wanna walk around naked scaring the cats and the neighbors But you know what I mean
Wednesday we are going to my DH's aunt and uncle's (The ones I LOVE and have adopted as my in-laws) for the 4th. And then Thursday is packing day. And the Friday.... Glorious Friday... we'll be on our way
Thanks for reading about my crazy nerdy plans and I hope you were entertained. If last year's bday trip is any indicator of how this year's trip could go, I can only imagine the fun you'll have when we get back
Aaaah . . . I hope the rest of the week flies for you (well, for me too )! I simply cannot wait to read all about your trip!
Your mousekeeping envelopes are the coolest and I love the room request fax too! I would go ahead and send that baby - - if there was an upgrade in the offering, I'm sure they would ask you no matter what!
