As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Great day! The breakfast buffet at Captain's Grill looked yummy. I love the little mini frittatas, they looked like egg "cupcakes". I'm glad you all had fun at BB!
The breakfast buffet at Captains Grill looks really yummy! I've never been to BB but it sounds like fun. Good for you for even trying one of the big slides! The grilled cheese/tomato bisque combo is what I always get at Beaches & Cream. I could go for one right now! Really sounds like a wonderful day, topped off with a visit to Epcot. I like that you're taking advantage of the BCV location with two visits to B&C (so far, that is!) and ending the day at Epcot.

What a great day! I'll be trying the waterparks on my trip next summer and that has me quite nervous. I don't like slides or deep water, but I'm taking one for the team as my kids have been begging me for years to go.

I thought it was interesting that you walked outside of BC and walked past the pool area to get to your Captains Grille ADR at YC. We would have probably walked through the resorts to get there. The pool looked so tranquil at that time of day though, so probably a very nice way to go. I've had a great dinner at Captains Grille. Breakfast looks good too. Too bad we never do breakfast on vacation at WDW.
I've noticed that the water parks do seem to have a lot of foriegn language speakers when we've been there too. I wonder whether these types of parks aren't found in their countries so are a big draw here (?).
Okay all caught up. From the sounds of it you had some really great days despite foot pain. And that guy you met on your way into EPCOT on day one must be something special as you let him keep tagging along with you and in so many pictures but I would recommend you don't let Jeff see him kissing you so much might be a bit awkward
Loved the description of BB we are planning to go there at least once next month Weather permitting and Lucille can't swim so only the tamer stuff for her

I wanted to try lots of TS in and around BC, so it was a good one to add to our list. And turned out to be a great choice!

Beaches and Cream was definitely one of the "pros" for staying at BC! Although, thinking about it now, there really weren't any "cons"!

To tell you the truth, we really never explored another way to get there. We just always walked along the beach, or outside along the building. I didn't know we could get to Yacht Club through the inside of the resorts! Might be a good reason to go back, as it sounds like there is some unexplored territory!

Our plans for the afternoon were to go to Epcot and use our FPs, but since the rain was not letting up, we decided to just hang out in the room. We decided it was a good time to do a load of laundry, and I went on a wild goose chase looking for the laundry room. The guest guide in the room said it was near the quiet pool, so there I was wondering around the DVC quiet pool with my bag full of laundry (in the rain) looking for a laundry room. No laundry! I finally walked to the DVC desk and found out it was on the 4th floor. She said that yes, there is a laundry near the other quiet pool, but that one is coin operated. Too bad there is not a guest guide that is exclusive to the DVC Villas. Once I found the laundry on the 4th floor, I had a hard time figuring out if the front loading machine was working right. I don’t have a front loader and I was confused because it would fill for a bit, and then tumble for a bit, and then fill, and then tumble. Is that how front loaders work? Finally, convinced that it was actually washing the clothes, I went back to the room. I think Jeff must have thought I’d gone missing!
By the time the laundry was finished, it had stopped raining and we were on our way to Epcot. We decided to walk around WS until it was time for our ADRs at Rose and Crown. From the International gateway, we headed toward the front of WS and then on to Mexico, Norway (where we rode Maelstrom) and then China.
Finally got a picture of ToT in the background of the Morocco Pavilion:
We didn’t have a lot of time but I wanted to browse a bit for a Chinese blouse. I tried on a few and found just what I was looking for. Jeff got a tie as well and we checked out and had the items sent to the resort. Unfortunately, they do not give the AP discount in China, but no matter.
Then we headed around the rest of WS taking photos along the way. It started sprinkling, but not enough to get out the umbrella or ponchos.
We checked in for R&C at 7:30 and requested a patio table. The CM said they no longer take special requests for seating, but if we were seated inside, they would take us to the special viewing area for illuminations. We waited on a bench for our buzzer to go off.
After about 15 minutes we were called, and taken to an indoor table.

Our server was Abbie, from Glasgow. We chatted a bit about Scotland. We have never been there, but Jeff's Great Grandfather came from Scotland, so someday he would like to make a visit. Jeff had the cottage pie with a Bumblebee (Guinness and Boddingtons). And I had fish and chips and a glass of Riesling. Both meals were very delicious! And filling! We had no room for dessert! And I was so looking forward to the Gooey Toffee Cake!
We settled the bill and Abbie came and escorted us down to the viewing area. It was a great spot! It was a little crowded at first, but one family in front of us snuck into the lower seating area of R&C which was practically empty, so we moved into their spot and had a great view.
After Illuminations, We headed to the International Gateway and decided to take a walk around the Boardwalk. We were hoping to see street performers, but there were none! I was a little disappointed, as I thought this was the norm.
So, we headed back to the Beach Club and stopped at the Marketplace to get a movie. We looked through their binder of Disney movies and ended up choosing an old comedy from 1968: Blackbeard's Ghost starring Peter Ustinov, Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette. The young CM, who had been encouraging us with “oh, yeah, that’s a good one!” when I’d come across one that he recognized, was taken aback when we made our choice and said, “1968?” I’m sure it seemed like ancient history to him! Once we got to the room we decided we’d save the movie for another day since we were both pretty tired.

The weather today was hot with rain in the afternoon
The best thing today were our meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner all at tableservice restaurants!
The worst thing today was rain in the afternoon and missing out on our fast passes for Epcot
The funniest thing today was trying to avoid the cold water dumping on us in the lazy river
Today we tried Blizzard Beach
And the result was lots of fun!
Most magical moment today was our great viewing spot for illuminations
