Sparky's Gone to the World- A TR 9/13/11-9/20/11 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just jumped on board, and I'm all caught up! Your plans sound great so far, congrats on getting all of your ADRs too! Good luck with the surprise, I love the plans for the reveal with the breakfast plate I'm planning a surprise for my DDs with our November trip too, but it's getting harder and harder to keep the secret! Good luck with the rest of your planning!
Oh, and I love hearing your ideas on saving money for your trip. I follow Kristin on Couponing to Disney too, I love that site! I found her on Facebook not too long ago, she has really helped me save a lot of $$.

Great news on the $$$ front! What sites are you using?
Thanks! I have been so excited for the survey sites. I joined some of them at the end of Oct., others I joined in Dec. So I have been doing them for 8 months and that is what I made for 8 months...well slightly more, because some had rewards left over after I cashed in. But I think $560 is great!! It is somewhat time consuming, but I am a stay at home mom, so I have the free time. Here are the survey sites I use...in case you interested. I listed them in order of my faves, with my reward amount for each and a little note.
I am only listing the ones I have already cashed in for and received the rewards. In a few weeks when I cash in the others, if I receive all the rewards I will post them as well.
Toluna- $100 check, 16 days till receipt- This is my fave site. It has polls as well as surveys so you can make thousands of points per day. 60,000= $20.
Opinion Outpost- $95.50 VISA giftcard- 1 day till receipt, as you can choose a virtual giftcard to use online or on the phone. This site sends surveys through email. The only tip I have is cash in once you hit around $50, I got about 5 surveys a month once I hit $50. After I cashed in...I have been getting about 5 a day again. 1 point= $1 dollar
MyPoints- $25 VISA giftcard- 6 days till receipt- This site is cool bc you can do surveys, get points for reading emails and for shopping at various stores through their site. Like Kmart, Walmart...national stores. $25 girftcard= 4600 points
My View- $50 PayPal- 1 day till receipt, again I got a virtual giftcard. You can choose a physical gift card if you want as well (with all the sites)This site is cool bc they give you points even if you don't qualify for the survey itself. $50 giftcard= 66,500 points
Ispos Isay- $20 check 19 days till receipt- Receive a good amount of surveys per day through email. $10=1000 points
Epoll- $10 Paypal 23 days till receipt- This site sends surveys through email, but I don't get very many. Most of them are worth 500 points though and the surveys seem pretty short. $10= 6750 points
Survey Scout- $10 giftcard 10 days till receipt- This is one survey site I am giving up. I just didn't qualify for as many surveys. That doesn't mean it isnt good, someone else might qualify for more than I do.

Glad you have joined my PTR party! I am so excited for my ADR's, I can't believe I got all the ones I wanted in the first shot. I've been pretty lucky with that through the years.
I can't wait to use the plate for my DD, I am having such a hard time keeping this quiet!! So hard!! So I get that completely.
I love Kristin's site, I too follow her on FB. It was a post from her site that inspired my plate idea, actually. I wrote to Kristin about it and she ended up reposting the link with a pic of my plate and my idea. That was really cool! Parially bc I think she has probably heard a whole lot of surprise ideas, and she was thrilled about mine, one she hadn't heard before. Kristin has helped me in so many money saving ways and ideas, from survey sites, to the plate, to using coupons. I it!!
Thanks for posting the survey sites. I will be checking them out! I always thought they were shams...I love the change jar...but my DH, also...tends to raid it...grrr.....
Thanks for posting the survey sites, I've been wanting to check some of them out for a while but also thought they would be too time consuming or a scam.
Good luck with the change. I always save my change and usually end up with about $100.00 per year. It's like found money. Now my saving is a little slower because I give some to my son for his piggy bank and I've been saving quarters and pennies for the pressed penny machines.

back Shelly!
Yw! Yeah, I wondered about the survey site too as far as being shams. But decided to give it a go, like I said when Kristin on Couponing to Disney said she did them and they work. I am proof now as well that they do! I still can't believe it! Just keep in mind when you going to check out or do the surveys....
1.) Not everyone qualifies for all surveys, it all depends on what they are looking for...age, occupation, kids, where you live, etc. I have found some sites that I qualify for many more surveys than others. You kind of have to use my list (just bc I know they pay their rewards) and then see what happens....if one isn't worth your time...forget it and continue on with the ones that are.
When I started doing the surveys I started out joining about 20...I have whittled that number down to 12 and I plan on discountinuing a couple more soon. I would rather concentrate on the ones that seem to work better for me.
2.) They can be as time consuming or not as you want. I probably spend 30 min to 1.5 hours a day doing them at various times of the day. I might spend 30 minutes in the morning and then an hour at night. Or 10 minutes in the morning and 1.5 at night. You can always skip surveys that you don't like some questions for some reason or if you don't like what they are paying or you feel that survey is too long. It's all up to you!
3.) I still have a few sites to cash in for and I will let you know about those sites as well. I cashed in today from 2 sites for $75 PayPal. So in the next 2 weeks we shall see about those!
I am so happy for my change jar, so proud I should say. It's hard for me to save change (I usually end up using it) but I have been! I just put another $10.35 in it last night. Which means I am officially done with saving for Mousekeeping, DME, laundry, and mugs. I have started working on paying for CRT, which is $125, but I am down to $120!!

I know Shelly!! Believe me, once I actually got some savings into them and I saw my points/money accumilating....look out! Especially when I got a couple test products...crazy! LOL At one point, I stopped watching tv and was on here doing surveys instead. I barely watch tv anymore now with this computer....between Pogo, FB, PP and NOW SURVEYS, oh boy.
I am planning to pay for my trip alone next year to meet up with my PP girlies, hopefully , by those survey sites. We'll see, I'll keep you posted there will be a PTR and TR for that trip! I may be on to a title for the PTR...maybe subtitle..."Can I pay for WDW completely from doing Surveys online??" LMAO
I am finding out that I do not qualify for most. And I keep getting a variation of the same survey! I tweak my answers a bit and still do not qulaify! I can imagine this bieng very time consuming! But now that I am home for the summer, I do have a little extra time to waste and am also trying to get more money for a 2012 WDW trip!

I can understand that. Like I said, there are some I gave up bc it just was not worth the time with the amount of times I wasn't qualifying. These are what I was left with.
My View gives points even if you don't qualify and Toluna a try, with the sponsored (polls) under the explore tab you can rack up the points I have found. You just have to see what ones work for you.

Congratulations on the great pay out, I have done some survey sites and can't believe the points that add up, I think almost 90% of Christmas shopping was either paid for by the visas I earned or Amazon points
