Recruiting Fans for PassPorter Street Teams! - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Better late than never - I just found this post!
Of course I'd love to be part of spreading the Passporter word. In fact, whenever I talk to someone about a Disney trip, Passporter is the first thing I talk about! Just last night, I did some back research through the archives for the article on traveling to Disney with toddlers - had to share it with a newbie.
Now, if I could get about 20 older edition copies for my daughter's fourth grade classroom, I'd be the "cool" mom! Seriously, they have a Disney day and the teacher incorporates math by having them plan the cost of their trip! I think the Passporter "indoctrination" is definitely needed (then of course they can tell their parents about it )!
This is a fantastic marketing idea and I would thrive on the challenge! Bring it on!
Hi Ya'll! I have been spreading the word about you for years now, and have "sold" everyone a book that I have helped book a trip to the world! Everyone loves your books. I have received several calls about how cool they are this year. Consider letting me help you here in the beautiful South. Located near Asheville, NC.
Prior to our most recent trip to WDW, I discovered Passporter at a local bookstore. While I considered purchasing several tour guide books, Passporter stood out from all the rest! It already had all of the information that I accumulated by purusing numerous books from the library for hours and visiting endless internet sites. Passporter also saved me the time of organizing all of my essential WDW information that I consider critical to a successful trip. I advocate the purchase of Passporter to everyone who is considering a trip to WDW. If any of my relatives or friends are planning a trip to WDW, I am the person they seek out because I am a proud Disney fanatic. My dad always felt that I missed my calling to write for a travel guide since I have such a passion for traveling, writing , and organizing.
If I am fortunate to be selected to be part of the Passporter team, I will spread the word through schools. I am an elementary teacher with 34 years of experience and can reach numerous people through the classroom, parent organizations, booster clubs, and fundraisers. Your current volunteer promotion can begin to involve so many people to discover the benefits of volunteerism while opening the doors to a Disney experience. At every fundraising event, I would be able to add Disney promotional items to door prize give away bags that would reach over 350 people in one evening. I love to share information about Disney to those who have never experienced the magic!

Reason: I accidently posted this before I was finished.
I have been passionate about PassPorter since the 1st edition, which I happened upon in a Books-A-Million. Ever since that fateful day, I have not missed an edition and (im)patiently wait for the following year's book to arrive!
The main reason to spread the word about PassPorter is simple...it is by far the best guide to Disney! Going beyond its comprehensiveness, PassPorter gives fair assessments of rides, dining, resorts, tours, and just about everything else Disney has to offer. Jennifer and Dave give their honest opinions. If they love something, you know it! And if something doesn't quite live up to expectations, they will frankly tell why.
As for spreading the word, the best place to start is the local library. I cannot tell you how many times I encounter folks utilizing the library for travel books. If they take donations, take an earlier edition of PassPorter which may not be needed in the house any longer. (Heck, take a new edition! It's a library...donations are a wonderful thing!)
My PassPorters over the years have seen many hands of my friends around here, as they are always borrowing my books to help plan their vacations. And living so close to Disney (it's just over a 2 hour drive from Jacksonville), there are plenty of folks in these parts making plans to visit the Mouse!
Hopefully, I am not too late to be considered for a position on the Street Team to spread the passporter "magic". I have been a passionate member of Passporter for a few years now and will continue to do so. Every time someone I know travels to Disney, I give them an old copy of my passporter and show them the website. In addition, I work at the Disney Store and are always telling "Guests" about Passporter. I would love to pass out postcards and magnets to the "Guests".
No matter what, I want to thank you for creating such a welcome site for all of us to come and share our love of Disney!

I LOVE THE PASSPORTER! I purchased my first one last year when I was surprising my family with our 1st Disney Cruise. We are taking our children over Valentine's Day weekend for their 11th and 7th birthday. Being that I was raised and live in Central Florida, I have visited the Mouse's House over 100 times. I am a teacher and very active in my community. My husband is an Evangelist and in my off time when I'm not at Disney World, I am traveling around the country with him. I have NO doubt that spreading the word about The Passporter will be a success. Thank you for considering me for this AMAZING opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Have a blessed day
Hey there! I just noticed that you updated this stating that anyone that replys to this thread before midnight gets extra info. I hope I make it! I have already posted on this board but I wanted to make sure that I read it correctly and didn't miss my opportunity!
My best friend and I are both planning a trip to WDW next year and I will be turning her on to the PassPorter next week when we have breakfast together. We both come from a large family so there are plenty of people I can turn on to this planner. Not only family, but a bunch of friends with little kids that have yet to take them to WDW. Oh, and I used to work in a bookstore 10+ years ago. I am still friendly with my old boss and I am sure he wouldn,t mind me facing some books out.
I hope I make the deadline in time to become part of your "street team"!!!!!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sorry, I forgot to tell you where I live! I am in Marlton, New Jersey, which is a suburb of Philadelphia.

I would love to volunteer to be a part of the Official Passporter Street Team to pass along the help and advice that passporter has give me.
I just love how Jennefier and the Passporter team is supporting Disney as together we make 2010 about not what can we do or get for ourselves but how can we volunteer to help others and that Volunteerism can start by sharing passporter with others to help make that trip to Disney the most magical trip ever. So as Miss Piggy says "i am off to the World Premier " um i mean to Volunteer.
I live in a small town of Binghamton New York and when i was planing my Second trip to Disney Wold back in 2005 after going on my High School Senior Trip in 2001, I know one very important fact. I had to plan. That was not as easy a task as it sounded. As i started looking on-line i found tons of websites and information but i could not always do all my planing on-line so i knew i needed a book. I went to my local book store in search of a Passporter as that was the most recommend book that i noticed on-line. To my surprise they only had 1 copy and tons of those other Disney Guide books. I took a look and loved the Pull out maps and the pockets so much that they could not even compare to the other guide books on the shelf right next to them. I had hope to get the Deluxe guide book as i loved the idea of the binder i had seen on-line so i put the one and only sprial bound copy back facing out so others could find it and went home and ordered my first of what would soon be many passporters.
When you buy a passporter (deluxe) your getting more then just a guide book its a surviner, its your planing binder, its your everything. Its great to read and learn about every ride, park, hotel, restaurant, and more before you go and then use the Famous Passporter Pockets to write down notes in the park and keep extra fastpasses. I now have 5 Deluxe passporters one form each trip with my 6th on its way!
Working in a customer service environment i get to meet a lot of people and like and sampling of the population ant any giving time i find i can strike up a conversation with someone who is planing to go to disney world, has been to disney world, or wants to go to disney world. In every conversation i recommend they get a passporter guide book, because they can help them plan for an upcoming trip with advice and information they had no idea about, keep notes and make a keepsake book from a recent trip, or Get the next years edition to spark that bug to return!
I already recommend Passporter as the one and only book someone should buy, but i would love to be a part of the Offical Passporter team as i know that I will be spreading the word about Passporter even more as i plan my Aug 2010 Trip and help other co-workers, friends, and family plan for upcoming trips, as i show off my soon to be in my hands 2010 Passporter with so many great photos, reviews, and ideas yet to try.
Thank you so much Jennifer for taking the time to consider me as part of your First Official Passporter Team! Keep up the good work I look forward to many future editions of Passporter and as i plan my trip back to the mouse lots of reading of the wonderful guidebooks and e-books as well.
