For those of you out there who are golfers or have a member of the family who loves to golf, my DH went golfing at Disney on our recent trip and here is some info for those who are interested:

1). Be prepared - Disney golf is NOT cheap!!! Even with our AP discount, the cost of the golf was $60 for 18 holes (this included a golf cart, but not clubs). If you need to rent clubs, be prepared to shell out another $40-$55 depending on if you want standard clubs or deluxe clubs.

2). DH played at Osprey Ridge, which is located very close to the entrance to Fort Wilderness. He said it was a nice course, but not OVERLY impressive. The dress code includes no denim, no sleeveless shirts, and no metal-spike golf shoes.

3). The Disney golf carts are equipped with GPS systems that allow you to see how far it is to the pin from anywhere on the course! Neat feature

4). My DH likes to collect golf shirts from all the different courses he plays at. Normally, you could expect to spend around $45 for a golf shirt (sometimes less if you find any on sale or clearance). A golf shirt from Disney was almost $75!!!

5). The one thing that impressed DH the most was the customer service he received at Osprey Ridge. After playing the first 9 holes of the course, DH realized that the GPS system on his golf cart was not working properly and was not giving him accurate readings of how far it was to the pin. He drove the cart back to the clubhouse to tell them about it. They immediately gave him a new cart and also offered him a rain check for a free round of 18 holes to be used in the future!!! DH didn't feel right accepting a free 18 holes when he had already played 9 holes, so they ended up giving him a rain check for 9 holes. That was very impressive and something they definitely didn't have to do.

6). DH enjoyed his day golfing at Disney but due to the expense, this will not be something he will be doing on every trip. It was worth it for him because he loves to golf, but even he was surprised at how expensive it was.

Hope this helps if any of you are thinking of trying a day of golf at Disney.

Glad your husband had a good time Sharon! That is expensive for golf, but how cool to try out those GPS equipped carts!

Thanks for the tips! I know I about died when I saw the green fees and everything but I know on our next trip we are going to at least play 18!

DH just played last week, and as long as his tee time was 10:00 or later, the cost was $40, plus he saved another 10% by paying with Disney Visa. He arrived and was ready early, and they actually let him tee off at about 9:30. He played Eagle Pines, and found it to be a great course. We thought the rates were great, even $60 isn't too bad. Golf here must be more expensive than where you're from! He had wanted to play during our November trip, but fees then were over $100!

DH's tee time was 1:20pm (the hottest part of the day) and even with the AP discount his golf fee was still $60. That price wouldn't be too bad for 18 holes if it included the club rental but then he had to fork out another $55 for clubs! That was what made it so expensive.

$60 isn't too bad of a rate, considering the courses are host to a PGA Tour event. I typically spend 40-60 for a regular course here in the Philly suburbs.

The greens fees for Harbour Town in Hilton Head, home of the Heritage Classic PGA Tour event in March, were $200 for morning or $165 for 12pm or later tee times when I was there last week.

I agree with Rob,$60 isn't bad for greens fees. I know my husband was given numbers in the $100 range, but I think that was for a 7:30 am tee time. He is planning to golf twice on our trip next June, so thanks for the info!!!!!

The Slice the Price rates were actually cheaper than the AP discount. When we called to make a tee time, the CM told us about it. Then we saw it on the website, too.

I played in mid Decemember 2004, and the total cost of two people at the Magnolia course (green fees, cart and club rentals) came out to around $350! Because it was DH's first time to WDW, he absolutely needed to play golf and wanted to play where the pros play each year for the Funai Classic.

The course was beautiful, and of course I ended up in the Mickey Mouse bunker, which was okay since it was Mickey. Having never seen a gator before, we saw a couple of them at the edge of the water. The two older gentlemen I was playing with made sure I stayed far, far way from the creature. Tee hee!

Back to the cost of golf...to make an even more painful dent in the budget, DH wanted a golf shirt from the Magnolia (just like Sharon's husband where you gotta get a shirt from every course.) That shirt set me back another $65! It was most definitely the most expensive 5 hours spent in WDW!

We've played Osprey and Magnolia. I really enjoyed the courses(really beautiful)and it was just fun playing golf on Disney courses. Also, Disney gave us a voucher for our taxi so we didn't have to pay to get there.
