As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Do you think a 3 year old boy would enjoy playing a round of golf at Winter Summerland or would it be too hard for a small child? If anyone has any experiences there with a young child, I would love to hear them.

We played Winter Summerland when we went in May2002.
Our boys were 5 1/2 and 2 1/2 years old and they had fun. It's just like any other putt-putt course.
sure, they can have a great time! Will they play like you? No, but they can have so much fun just picking up the ball and putting in the hole. As long as you don't have expectations of rules or capabilities, you'll have fun!
One side is easier than the other, I think...but I can't remember which one. I'm sure a CM would know. My boys loved it when we went. Just let other parties pass you if it's taking you guys a while to do the holes. We did this a few times and it worked out fine.

I totally agree. We just did a 9-hole course in Branson with our 3-year-old son. He loved it but since he couldn't really hit the ball that well he ended up rolling it or kicking it down the greens!
Also, at Winter Summerland it is not so much the experience of playing mini-golf, but the atmosphere. Who doesn't love Christmas? And they have really gone all out in designing and decorating each hole. It is definitely worth it. (TONS of photo ops, too!)
We took Emilie to Winter Summerland in Dec. '03 (played the Winter course), when she was just 3 months short of turning 3 and she LOVED it!!! We didn't have to pay for her and they even gave her a little plastic club to use instead of a reglar kid size club. She did get kind of bored after a couple of holes, but there is so much to look at in there, that she got over the boredom pretty quickly!!!
We also took her last October (when she was 3 1/2) to Fantasia Gardens. We DID pay for her that time and they gave her a regular kid size club there. She had a great time there as well . . . she even asked to play again!!! The only thing she didn't like was waiting. It was so crowded the night we went that they had to give us a tee time!!! We ended up having to wait 40 minutes from the time we got there until we could start playing!!! It was great thought because when we were on about hole #9, the second showing of Fantasmic started and we could hear the whole thing (well, MGM is right there by Fantasia Gardens! )
We have played both sides of Winter Summerland and they are both alot of fun. We played the winter side last October and alot of those holes go down hill like a drain so you get alot of holes in one which would be great for the little kids because they will do well and enjoy themselves. Definately do it!!!!!
We first played this course when our youngest was not quite 3. He loved it. There was so much to see that it was tough keeping him from going on to the next hole before we were all ready. With young ones we've always tried to go when it's the least crowded so that our kids don't bother anyone else and there is no one rushing you from behind.
Our experience has been that it's the least crowded soon after it opens (10am? I think ) It's really not crowded at all when Blizzard Beach is down for rehab, but that's been in the winter months.
I would definitely go! It's just like regular miniature golf, which kids LOVE. When I went to Lancaster last summer my little cousin, who was 3 at the time, LOVED the Dutch Wonderland mini-golf. It was her first time playing and they gave her a really small plastic club, which is what they do at Winter Summerland. Have fun!
I was thinking of playing at one of the miniature courses on my next trip and after reading all of the postings, I think Winter Summerland would be the best course to play
