Can anyone please tell me what the double strollers are like at each of the 4 parks? (Not too picky, am I??? [img]images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/img] ) I am travelling with my 2 dd's, who are 5 yrs. and 19 mos. The baby will usually sleep easily in a stroller. Do the seats recline? I plan on bringing an umbrella stroller for the airport and Downtown Disney...is this a good idea? Any thoughts, info or ideas will be greatly appreciated! [img]graemlins/ears.gif[/img]

Bring your own. At least for the little one - the 5 year old may or may not use one and you can rent one at the park if you need to. You will need the stroller for getting around the airport, if you are flying, and for navigating your hotel, etc. Make sure it's one you can fold up easily to get on the busses if you're going to use them. I'm sure lot's of other Passporters will give some great hints for you. Good luck!

We have always brought our own double stroller with us. (My twins were 15 months and 30 months on our trips and will be 4 on our next trip.) The strollers you rent do not recline and are made out of a hard plastic. Most are a jogging style stroller. I hope this helps.

Hmmm...hard plastic [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img] even the back of the stroller that their head lies against? I know I will definetly need a double stroller, as my soon to be 5 yr. old (B-Day trip to WDW!) will complain that her legs are "too tired." Does anyone have any pictures of the strollers or know of any links to one online? Any more info would be greatly appreciated!!! [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

The strollers you rent do not recline and are made out of a hard plastic.

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Janice is right... they are completely molded from top to bottom... no cushions and no sun shade. They looked VERY uncomfortable [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img] We brought our collapsible double stroller from home for our 5 yr old and 3 yr old DDs... the 5 yr old rode in the front so she had more room.

The stroller was a big help with luggage at the airport and for carrying junk at the parks. Also one less expense!

Some of the stollers (the Animal Kingdom ones for sure) look a bit like jogging strollers, with canvas seats. -HiddenMickey

This past November we rented a double stroller for our 5 yr. old and our 33 month old. We also brought an umbrella for the airport and getting around the resort.

Each day that we hit the parks, we would take my youngest DD in her umbrella stroller on the monorail and up to the stroller rental counter. Then we put our gear - backpacks, camcorders, sweatshirts, etc. - in the umbrella and pushed that while the other parent pushed the girls in the rental. This worked out great! Then when my little DD got cranky on the way home from the parks, we just popped her back in the umbrella stroller. She sometimes slept in her stoller from the park, to the monorail, and all the way back to the hotel room where we could transfer her to the bed!

My oldest DD loved the convenience of hopping out or in the stroller on her own, and having a place to rest her legs.

(I'm actually ashamed that I didn't check Deb's site [img]graemlins/pout.gif[/img] ) For anyone else who is interested, it had pictures of each stroller at all 4 parks, and the rental locations too! Thanks a bunch, and I think I'll use the recommendation about the umbrella stroller too! We thought we would only rent a stroller at Epcot (kids are 5 and 7) but we ended up getting one every day, and it was the best thing we could have done! The kids could really last a lot longer without all the walking. The double was perfect for our situation; it was roomy enough for us and it also gave us a place to stash our water bottles and sweatshirts. We had no problem maneuvering them around, but we went in Nov. when the crowds were small; they might be a little more difficult when it's crowded. I would definitely bring something soft for your little one to lay back on in case she wants to nap. The strollers at MGM are the umbrella type and probably more comfortable, but the others are pretty hard. Enjoy! [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

2000 (used our own son was 5 weeks old and in infant carrier)
2001 x 2 (used umbrella stroller at airport and then rented at the parks)
2002 (September we rented a double stroller and a single stroller each day - had my nieces 4 and 6 and 2 year old son)
2002 (December we bought a jogging stroller)

I must say we thought the rental ones were great. I always carried a towel in my back pack for him to lay down on or to use when waiting for the parades. However they don't really have a great place to put your stuff such as diaper bags or camera bags.

In December when we used our jogging stroller we loved it. We figured we would have rented a stroller on 7 days and it's $7 a day for a single stroller so we almost paid for the jogging stroller. We also had it at the resort, at the airport, on the way into and out of the parks. It was great. Our jogging stroller folds up really easy. We also didn't have to wait in line to pick up or return the strollers. We just breezed right through the main gates and into the park.

The time we rented the double stroller we found it easy to get around with. Just my opinion on the matter.

We have always brought our own stroller from home. The first time when DS was 12 months we brought the whole travel system. This last time we brought a nice umbrella stroller that was very light weight, had a carrying strap, and folded up small. It was a breeze! We didn't have to wait in line to rent one, worry about someone accidentally taking our stroller (since each park's strollers look alike), or pay the $7-$10/day. I don't think we would ever rent one. I was worried about the same thing...comfort. I knew DS would have to have something that would recline, offer shade, and be comfy. And no way could we have done without it at the airport. We just checked it before we boarded each time so it was waiting for us when we got off the plane!

The whole stroller thing is really great. They prbobaly are not the most comfortable things in the world but my kids (all three) have taken turns using them. They are very manuverable and getting up and down curbs and such is very easy as the parks are handicap friendly. Also when parking them for the attractions it is rare that they are bothered but if they are you are not panicing that your personal stroller is missing and you just take a receipt to the front and you get another. Also that receipt is good for any other park you go that day. They are also great for the kids to sit in (or sleep as it may be) if you get a front row seat for a parade.
