As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Possible Familiar Question from DH
My DH asked me a question the other day that I wondered if others have heard before. He asked me why I liked Stitch so much. He said he knew I loved Disney and Stitch was a good movie, but he said "It's like you have some sort of connection to him." So I told him my answer was two fold. 1. I have a huge, atleast 25 pounds, cat that is my baby. I have had him since he was as small as my hand...and now he's of monsterous proportions. He loves to destroy things and play and run around and mess things up. Thus I was reminded of him when I saw Stitch. 2. Being a first grade teacher in a bad area of town I see many broken homes and upsetting situations. Very reminiscent of Lilo. So, that was my explaination.
My question is.... Do you have a character or movie that you relate to for reasons others may not understand....

Re: Possible Familiar Question from DH
Another reason to love Lilo and Stitch is that they are not perfect looking. There is so much pressure to look and act a certain way that I think everyone can identify with Lilo and Stitch on this level. It is refreshing to see characters that aren't all hearts and flowers and you can see some of the "dysfunction" that all families have.

Very well said! And also, I love the pic of Stitch and your son! Too cute. Where was that taken? It looks like the GF but Stitch never wandered around there last year when we there

I love Dopey because he is like the perfect man . . . he doesn't say much and nods his head and does what he's told to do!!! Just kidding (although that is a good thought!!!)
I love Dopey because he always seemed to be like the black sheep of the dwarves . . . none of the others appreciated him much and he was funny looking. Kind of reminds me of myself when I was younger!!!

Re: Possible Familiar Question from DH
Starting my sophomore year of college I became obsessed with this guy named Roar. Even though all my friends hated him, to me, he walked on water. It was disgusting. One day I found a Lion King pin which read "I'm Working On My Roar" and my fondness towards Simba grew from there, and into a hefty collection of items scattered across the house. These days I rarely think of Roar, and if I do, it's with disgust...but Simba is forever cute and loveable!

I love Ariel because she's mischievous, yet has a lot of faith in people!

I'm restless and "bouncy", and regularly break things being clumsy. Makes my wife think of Tigger.

You are very observant. It is indeed the GF. We always stay there and have breakfast at least twice at 1900 Park Fare. When we checked into breakfast, Stitch was there were Mary Poppins usually is. When we came out, Mary Poppins was there. One of the CM's told us that "Stitch isn't a scheduled character here, but they are using him a lot of places you never saw him before b/c of his new attraction.
So keep your eyes peeled, you never know where in the world he will turn up."
Looks like the palm tree is growing out of her head!!

Re: Possible Familiar Question from DH
I love Lilo because she's a little bit different and she's just so funny. I think I was definitely a lot like her when I was growing up. I joke to my fiance sometimes that if we ever had a daughter, I'd name her Lilo Boo ('cause I also think Boo from "Monsters Inc." is too cute!) but I'm just joking about naming a kid that.

Re: Possible Familiar Question from DH
Melissa, I just watched Lilo & Stitch for the first time last week. I know, I know, where have I been?? I was totally touched by it. They seem like they could be real, don't they!? I don't have a specific character I relate to, but I love characters that seem real to me. You've picked a good choice!

Re: Possible Familiar Question from DH
I am so glad that others relate I knew you would!
And as for the characters seeming real...I think I deep down wish Chewy (my monsterous size cat) could talk.... as much as I talk to him he should be able to respond. So watching Stitch talk and interact makes me think of things Chewy might say or do if he could. LOL I know, I'm crazy
Keep 'em coming guys...I wanna hear more of what you think of the different characters!!
Here is a quick pic of my fat Chewy baby

Hmmm . . . good question. I have a special place in my heart for Pooh and the gang . . . I don't publicize it really, but when I see them I get a warm fuzzy. When I was being carted off to the operating room for a c-section after a day of non-productive labor, I was tired and a little scared. The Kenny Loggins's song, Return to Pooh Corner, was playing and one of the doctors asked me if I knew what the song was about. I answered "Pooh" and he then asked me if I knew what TTFN stood for. That I didn't know, but I know now. So Pooh and the gang were there for me when I needed them.

Re: Possible Familiar Question from DH
In high school I was bouncy and always running around. My nickname was Tigger.... I also love Tink - since she has such an attitude that can change on a dime (just like me sometimes).
