Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

Ok after reading the various weather reports for December..I was wondering about FEB we have it planned to be there FEB 1-9th and then transfering over to a offsite hotel for 10th-14th to do IOA,SEA and US.

Son picked out hotel for Disney we are staying right onsite at CBR. I figured would need this closeness healthwise. I had a gastric bypass 10 months ago (used to be a size 30 and weighed 300 lbs and now a size 12 and weigh 162)but the extra weight turned my left hip forward so makes walking painful after awhile...bringing my cane and will resort to wheelchair if nec. but have the convience to go back and rest at hotel. Plus son has behavioral & learning disabilities,ADHD and is mild MR.He is 10 but more like 5-6. Patience level is non-existing soo have line games to play plus plan on utilizing fastpass by when timeframe comes up on first go get ticket for next then do that ride. Feb less people though..How are the lines realistically?

2-(14)year old girls that I have custody of 1 lives 3/4 w/me and 1/4 with her grandparents(my aunt)her mom and stepdad not nice long story then.I have had this one since she was a little girl of 11 years old.I have another one total opposites but get along fine.This one started drugs when parents favored older sibling attitude parents couldnt handle..I got..Both girls 1 week apart in age. Last one has a fiery temper at strangers but hardly have problems with either. The one I had the longest (ASH)she did meal planning with vouchers other helped a little but not much.

Then my hubby and I are both 28 ..he has no major health issues or probs...other then not a big ride guy (I hope the disney bug bites him hard.

I have Disney Meal Vouchers ...How do these work Well? for others that have had them? I have Q&C's ...Prem Breakfast and Lunch Vouchers.

Rest Choices As follows:
lunch-Old Port Royale (since not sure exactly what time getting in still looking for great airfare sitting at 266 now OUCH)
Supper-Beaches & Cream

Day 2 -AK
Breakfast in Room (I am mailing a box of snacks like I have on other trips with cereal and such plus we get the fridge cuz of meds for free)
Lunch -Rainforest Cafe
Supper-Pizzafari

Day 3-MK
B= Chef Mickeys
L= Cosmic Rays
S=Pepper Market

Day 4-Waterpark (whatever is open if both prob blizzard)
B=Kona Cafe
L=Lottawatta Lodge
D= UNKNOWN (we read that one either beaches & Cream or Pepper was right outside of epcot but??)

Day 5-EPCOT
B=In Room
L= UNKNOWN (maybe Le Cellier)
D= Liberty Inn

Day 6-MGM
B=UNKNOWN (contacted Disney since I only eat about a cups worth of food..they will let me in for kids price but cant use voucher must be cash..with buffets son can get in for childs voucher even thogh he is 10 and tickets say 3-9 since that is how pricing works..rest are just reg vouchers. so looking for a nice buffet up our alley)
Lunch= 50's Primetime? (hubby kind of likes Sci-Fi by descrip.)
D=Unknown

Day 7-MK
B=In Room
L=Grand Floridian ?
D=Sassagoula ?

Day 8- AK (son loves animals so hoping will be enough to do x 2 days)
B=Boma
L=Wilderness Lodge
D=Flametree

Day 9- Last Hoorah 1/2 day
B=UNKNOWN
L=UNKNOWN

Ok how are these restaurant? Are there better then vouchers cover. No strange Foods though (I thought Morroco but got vetoed out)NO Cajun I would die literally (We avoided all those right?) Hubby not city driver so relying on Disney Trans plan realistic? The one thing he likes is architecture and history so girls thought going to dif. hotels might intrigue him to want to pick another for a dif. visit Tricky arent they). ANy offsite hotels close to IOA & SEA that offer trans to those that are good? I have all my park tickets except 3 disney since thinking of AP plus. Hubby and I thought maybe Cirque but not sure? Also one night out just us no kids for pleasure Island and I am sure we will have to squeeze tix in for that. Earl of Sandwich open? We kind of liked that one but heard mixed if even running.

Also should we move the time back some like late Feb early March so can save more $$ up to do more. Have to use meal vouchers by 05/29/05. Also have a wedding in MAY 21,2005 well a renewal after first one is disaster so AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH lets say fire and police dont work at weddings well. But hubby and I are paying and the last one though riot filled was small and not what we wanted so we are doing right from the beginning in other words big$$. So dont want to run into that and have the 2 major stresses togehter, SO HELP

Re: GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

February is my absolute favorite time to go! We have never really waited more than 5-10 minutes for anything. We are going to WDW February 5-12 and then to Universal from Febraury 12-15.

Re: GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

Early February is typically a fairly slow time of year - although the crowds pick up significantly around President's Weekend. You should be all set for the 1-10th. The weather is typically cool for Florida - you may want shorts, but definitely bring a jacket and long pants - especially for evenings.

Also - just to clarify things - Disney counts children from 3-9 for ticket purposes, but for Dining - you are a kid from 3-11, you don't pay adult prices until you hit 12 - so your son is fine there!

As far as your restaurant choices - for AK - you may want to switch your lunch/dinner choices on the 1st day - since AK closes at 5 pm, but Rainforest Cafe will stay open later, you could watch the parade, then go to RFC for a sit-down dinner.

For your MGM day, there are not any in-park breakfast buffets - you could hit Starring Rolls for counter service, or try the Cape May Character breakfast at the Beach Club.

On day 8 - your 2nd AK day - you will again want to switch your lunch and dinner plans - Flametree will close by 5 pm along with the park, and the Whispering Canyon Cafe is in the Wilderness Lodge, which is about as far from AK as you can get - it is on the other side of the Magic Kingdom area.

The only other thing to think about is an alternative plan for your waterpark day, since February is an iffy month weatherwise. We've didn't have much rain when we went in early Feb - but it was pretty chilly many days. You may have waterpark weather, but you may not.

Re: GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

Thanks fo rthe tips we will have to go back to ground zero or go to Epcot on the AK days for supper since the reason I picked those restauraunts is because they are part of the Lunch Vouchers...I would love to do RFC at night but not sure how long lunch time is exceptable for late lunch like even 4ish would that mean I had to be done eating by end of lunch or just get in by that time...

Re: GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

Hi, fever4disney!

I noticed that you have 5 people in your party and are staying at CBR. Are you reserving two rooms? I believe CBR has a 4 person limit per room. If you are only reserving one room, you can request a roll-away bed for an extra $15 per night. However, I'm not sure they will let 5 people in the room.

As for meals, I like the suggestions CRCrazy gave. After TL you may even consider the CBR food court. The CBR Food Court has a lot of great choices with huge portions.

Sorry, Typhoon Lagoon. But now that I have learned how to read I see that you are leaning towards Blizzard Beach.

Re: GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

No prob...lol

Does anyone know the basic park hours for each park in Feb 1-9th 2005 and waterparks and also any parades or shows in each park need to see.

Hubby was actually looking forward to seeing Wilderness Lodge so any ideas were best to fit that in for a lunch on schedule?

Now I am worried about weather maybe April 28-March 6th would be better?

I know girls really wanted to do a waterpark and course coming from Maine we just think Florida warm weather.

Re: GOING IN FEB PLEASE HELP WEATHER?TIPS?

Congrats on your upcoming trip. We have been to Disney several times in February, and I think its a great time to go. I really wouldn't consider any other time. We never wait more than 5 or 10 minutes for most things and others that have a little more line we usually get fast passes. The only exception I can think of is the speedway in MK. That line always seems to be around a half hour (and there are no fast passes). As far as weather goes...I have seen anything from weather in the 90's to weather in the 40's. One year it was pretty cold and windy and rainy. It was a little miserable for a couple of days, but then the weather improved and the last half of the week was beautiful. I would much rather be a little on the cool side than miserably hot. Besides what seems "cold" by Florida standards will be pretty nice weather if you were back at home in Feb. Just be sure to take enough of both kinds of clothes (cool and warm) and you'll be fine. Our son was 5 the first time we went as a family and his patience was not great. The lack of crowds and the cooler temps were a definite plus. As far as swimming, we usually swim some while we are there. The pools are heated and it's not usually too bad. Some days are better than others. If you really want to do a water park, my advice is to go on the first day that is suitable, because the weather can change pretty drastically. I wish you the best and have a great time!!!!
