I think the new rooms (while very clean) look stark, almost institutional.
Anyone else feel this is a down grade to the resort rooms?

I am at Pop right now, and I have tried twice to see what's being done. It's near impossible, as a resort guest, to get a look at an actual room, except one that is gutted.

It appears that the entire 80s section, both buildings, is currently shut down and under construction, as well as some of the 90s. There are some guests in 90s, and the Computer Pool is open, but it is loud over there during the day. Disney should be paying guests to occupy that area right now!

As for the OP comment, I can't say that I love the new look. We are very happy in our old-style room. If the plan is for Pop to completely convert to these rooms, we'll probably stick with the All-Stars for future trips. Although we are totally fine and have no complaints, I do find myself missing the All-Stars. There are just a number of things about that complex that I really like...lots of pool options, beachy vibe at Sports, serene environment at Music, fun movie atmosphere at Movies...all just feel like home to me.

I am glad we are in the original style Pop room.

Pop doesn't interest me on a good day so doing that to the rooms isn't doing anything to help.

Any hotel without carpet seems cold to me.
I completely understand that carpet captures all germs from every guest.
But, laminate flooring feels less comfortable.

It seems like a lot of hotel renovations around WDW are becoming more neutral and less fun.

Interesting about no carpet. I can see the reasoning behind it if it is to keep things more clean but not sure I would like that.

I do understand the reason for flooring verses carpet, but it looks just like a hospital room. I'm not sure we would want to stay on our vacation in a room like that. They just need to shampoo the carpets often.

I'm kind of excited by laminate floor. I have a bionic nose and the odors the carpets hold are horrible.

It's not laminate from what I've heard. It's vinyl plank. IMO it's nicer than laminate. We recently replaced our basement rec room laminate floor with this.

I've never stayed at Allstars because I prefer Pop layout & dedicated bus.

There are some aspects of new room I like, most Important is a coffee maker & larger fridge and TV. Queen bed. But I can't say I like the decor. It looks like a dorm room to me. A little colour would help. I like the splash of turquoise in the bathroom, it would be nice to see it carried thru to the room on a wall.

Not a big fan of the room color or in this case lack of color, totally agree it looks institutional. Hopefully when all the accessories are added it won’t look so stark.

I like the addition of the queen-sized with the full size pull down beds, sliding privacy (bathroom) door, all the additional accessible power and usb charging outlets, and hopefully the coffee makers. I have this type of laminate flooring in my laundry room, and love it, easy to clean and maintain.

Can't wait to see more photos and read comments of what guests think when they finally become available to stay in.

Not a fan of the new room decor. Nearly everything about it is bad imo.
No carpet to cut down noises. (Those rooms are going to reverberate the noise you make with very little soft goods in the room).
A 'dresser' that looks like a kitchen counter.
The new murphy bed instead of the second bed. It also means no table when the bed is down and no bed when you use the table.

Institutional looking....not a cozy warm place to end and start your day on vacation.

I agree with others that it looks pretty sterile. Are they adding color? Pictures? Decorations? Not sure this will be my first choice of resort anymore if they don't. Would go back to the All Stars.

I love the new look! I've stayed in hotels with laminate and it felt more clean. We stayed at the All Stars last fall and hated it. I'd book a room here.

Well, yesterday evening I got a good look at the refurb rooms, one king and one queen/full combo. I just don't like them. It's a lot of brown and white. There is no art, at least none yet, on the walls. The only part visible through the windows that I thought was attractive was the sink area, which I thought was nice.

We also prefer two real beds, so we won't book these rooms. We'll either go back to the All-Stars, where we have had very good experiences, or we'll maybe try AoA standard rooms.

I like the new rooms and I hope I get to stay in them while they're still new and fresh. I'm reserving judgement on the "lack of color" until I see a room in person. Pictures (especially through a window) don't really give me a true feel for the room -- I need to actually be in the space to take it all in. I suspect I'll like the amount of color in the rooms. Keep in mind that the curtains at the front of the room are orange; if there is a connecting door in the room, it's orange (half of the rooms at Pop are connecting rooms); and I wouldn't be surprised if the inside of the the exterior door is also orange. The vanity area seems to have a few nice pops of color.

We're still deciding whether to get a suite at AoA again or get 2 rooms at Pop Century for our trip next year. Pop was our "home away from home" for a few trips before AoA opened. Part of me *really* wants to go back to Pop just to try out the new rooms...but it will probably depend on whether there's room for an air mattress in the new rooms as none of the 4 "kids" (teens/twenties) likes to share a bed.
