As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I won't be picky if I'm able to score an ADR for BOG, but which mealtime do you prefer to eat there? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Is one experience better than the other? What entree do you recommend? *please feel free to send us ADR pixie dust*
The quality of food at breakfast and lunch can be really uneven. We've had pretty good lunches as well as not so great.
I honestly didn't think the quality or amount of food at breakfast met the price for adults. The pastries tasted like assembly line-made grocery store ones, definitely not the freshness or quality at other TS. People's experiences have been very mixed, either great food or cold. DH had ice cold food, as cold as if they'd pulled it out of the fridge!
Dinner is more fun since you can go into the Master's Study to meet Beast after your meal. The food on the whole is better but also can be somewhat uneven quality-wise. And, getting seated can take quite some time. Service was a bit slow when we did dinner.
Really, BOG itself is a character experience as stunning as the atmosphere is. The rooms are beautifully Imagineered with numerous touches that echo the movie.
So, I suggest looking over menus and picking the meal you think you'd enjoy most. You can wander about looking through all three rooms at breakfast and lunch. It's way too crowded at dinner unless you eat very early or late, and the Rose Gallery Room isn't open then (unless that's changed recently). But, you can meet Beast at dinner.
Tough decision, but you can always eat there again sometime. We sure have!

We have done dinner the last 3 trips and I would recommend it. I have had the French onion soup as an appetizer and the shrimp and scallops entree. I get the grey stuff for dessert. A lot of people complain about it that it is hard but I have never had an issue. My family members with food allergies get a steak, potato or fries, and veggies.
We have done all three mealtimes and I must say we prefer lunch. Breakfast seemed very overpriced and not that memorable. Dinner was nice but took lots of time to enjoy all the courses we wanted to try....meeting Beast was special but something we wouldn't do again for the price point of the meal (we pay OOP but with a TIW or AP discount). For lunch, we preorder our food making it a quicker and easier process. We like being able to chose our own room/table and can wander around to take photos. We prefer to have a late lunchtime when there are more tables available and we don't feel rushed. You still get the meal brought to you with real utensils and dishes. (you do get your own drinks, napkins and silverware)
I am fond of the potato leek soup and my husband prefers the French onion soup. We share one of the sandwiches and are pretty full. We have had the grey stuff....which is delicious......but we prefer to hold off on dessert so we can try something later on.

I have had breakfast and lunch and think Dot summed up breakfast. IMO it was a lot of mediocre food. You get fruit and pastries for the table but they are grocery store quality, nothing special. I also don't need a third of the food that is offered so you can either over eat or waste food.
Our lunch was very nice. We went at 1:30 and the place was beginning to clear and was empty by the time we left. I cannot stand noisy meals and once the crowds cleared lunch was pleasant. I thought the odd was much better than your average CS meal and the price was not much more.
Yes! Thank you all for your replies, sounds like dinner can be crowded and can take a while and breakfast is not too memorable, so sounds like a late lunch is the way to go, although you don't get a chance to meet Beast. Exactly all the information I was hoping to get -- it's always so great to come back to the forums and you all have such great (or not-so-great) experiences to share.
We have only done lunch, and while not everything is equally good, there are still some very nice items that seem to be pretty reliable, like the potato leek soup and the pork stew with green beans and mashed potatoes. Be sure to take advantage of online pre-ordering if you do lunch or breakfast. It will really save you some time when you arrive at the restaurant; you will have the option to add or change items if need be. Unless you are on a dining plan, breakfast seems pretty expensive to me. For $24, I'd just as soon eat breakfast at one of the MK resorts. But BOG is an experience everyone should have at least once.
Yay! An ADR for dinner popped up for our MK day! DH will think I'm a little bit crazy for accepting a 9:50 dinner time, and I'll keep checking for earlier in the day, but I didn't want to miss out on the experience altogether. So, we may take a break midday and then head back to the park for the evening. Otherwise, I could see one of my girls becoming particularly cranky.

DH will think I'm a little bit crazy for accepting a 9:50 dinner time, and I'll keep checking for earlier in the day, but I didn't want to miss out on the experience altogether. I have ate at BOG for all 3 meals and my first choice would try to get a lunch seating. My least favorite was breakfast and Dinner was very similar to lunch so either of the two would be fine according to the better seating time you could get.
The only time I have not ate at Be Our Guest is Lunch Time. I really enjoyed both the QS breakfast and the Dinner. Of course meeting the Beast after dinner was really special so I would say dinner was my fav.
