As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). On our cruise in June (Back to back double dips), I want to "swim with the dolphins". We will be in Nassau on my 50th B'day and thought that it would be a perfect time to mark this off my bucket list.
If you have done this - which did you do? Atlantis or Blue Lagoon? Shallow (just a hug and kiss and hand/flipper shake) or Deep water (push through the water). The second kind of scares me a bit. I don't like my feet being restrained/held and I know that's how they push you (by the feet). But I wonder if I'll regret not doing it. Is it amazing?
Right now, I'm leaning toward the shallow excursion at Atlantis with the second part being the Explore Atlantis (you can go look at the aquarium, tour the hotel or go to the casino) just because we will be getting a lot of "beach time" (4 days at Castaway Cay)
Well, I did swim with dolphins but on my Western Caribbean cruise (Dolphinaris in Cozumel) so I'm not sure I'll be a lot of help. Our swim wasn't a "push" but an actual "ride" holding onto the flippers. It was a very thrilling experience! The kiss and flipper shake was fun, but the ride was the big thrill. If it were me, I think the "swim" is more of a bucket list kind of thing, kwim? In other words, if you've always wanted to do this, the kiss/hug and flipper shake might leave you feeling a bit let down.
What HollyH said. You do not get pushed by your feet(that is a pro move that only dolphin trainers do) you hold the flipper and get pulled along a bit. I would definitely splurge for that.
I have not done the specific dolphin excursions you are looking at but in the 3 that I have done (1 shallow, 2 deep/shallow mix) I have only been pulled along via holding the dorsal fin. My trainer for the day experience involved 2 rides and even those were done holding the dorsal fin (one ride had two dolphins pulling me - super fun but fast). I highly doubt that you would get pushed via your feet - way too advanced for a tourist excursion. I have seen smaller adults/teens pushed via the small of a back during trainer experience but that was the only time. I would not hesitate to do the deep one - so so much fun.
I have done the dolphin push when was I was in Cancun. Their nose will be in the base of your feel and it pushes you up out of the water some. I loved it and I don't like my feet touched.
Hello! I just got back from our first cruise-3 day on the Dream-to Bahamas. We chose to Swim with the Dolphins at Blue Lagoon. Each person is given a life jacket so you can easily float in the water. They take pictures and video tape the whole session that you can purchase after the session. You get to touch the dolphins as they swim by, kiss, hug, dance, feed the dolphins and touch their teeth. Then you get pushed in the water by the dolphins. You are taught to lay flat on the water with your toes pointed down and your hands up. Then 2 dolphins come and push each foot with their noses as you raise out of the water. It's quite exhilarating. Both my 13 year old daughter and I enjoyed this experience.
