As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Lost Child!
To start, DH was working night shift last night (11-7) & when he works nights I allow one kid to stay in my room with me ( usually on the floor.. they consider it a camp out) & I feel more secure with them in there with me ( I know I'm a big wimp )
Last night was DS #1 turn & the other 2 pitched a fit.. I didn't have the energy to argue as I had a splitting headache from the school Science Fair so I allowed the other 2 to come in the room as well.. DD was on the floor by DH side of the bed.
I must have fallen asleep before the kids for a few minutes (this was a horrid headache) & when I woke up with a start I immediately looked to check on the kids ( I NEVER fall asleep before my kids) Saw the boys & they were fine but Shebly was nowhere to be found on her side of the floor.. I figured she got into bed with me.. Nope, no Shelby, look where the boys are sleeping, No Shelby!!
Shelby is a chronic sleepwalker & we have gates & door alarms all over the house so I really didn't panic I figured she went in one of the other bedrooms.. Checked the boys room, No Shelby!, check her bedroom, No Shelby..
Hmmm.,... I figured she climbed over the gate in the hallwat ( we have a ranch house) & went into the living room.. No Shelby.. I am starting to worry but figure with all of the tight security I have in the house (due to her sleepwalking & me being paraniod) she couldn't go outside..
I check & make sure all of the doors are locked & the alarms are set.. they are!!
I check the bathroom, No Shelby!... She is no where at all in the upstairs.. I checked the playroom, the kitchen, dinig room etc..
I think Oh she went sleepwalking into Pappy's ( several times we found her sleepwalking trying to get into FIL's apartment) I go downstairs , past the laundry room, through the gameroom, No Shelby, into the garage, No Shelby, into FIL's apartment, it's dark & no Shelby!!
I am really panicked now & goofy thoughts are in my head..
I realize I have been looking for over 10 minutes & I think I'll wake up Jamie to have him help me...
Jamie gets up & we start looking & calling Shelby's name.. NO SHELBY!!!! We search in the closets, EVERYWHERE!! SHE IS NOT HERE!!!!!! MY heart was beating sooo hard at this point.. & I realize that she HAS to be gone either kidnapped or sleepwalked out of the house.. I grab the phone to call the police & at that minute I hear DS #2 start to stir & I go to check on him & find SHELBY laying right next to him under my cedar chest.. I must have missed her the other 2 times I checked by DS #2..
I send Jamie to bed & get into bed to try to calm myself but I'm shaking!!!
When she sleepwalks it's usually to a person so I really should have looked better near the boys.. Could you imagine if I HAD called the police.. they'd have thought I was nuts!!!
It's funny now, but I was genuinely terrified at the time..

Re: Lost Child!
Wow, scary stuff! I'm glad you ended up finding her safe and sound!
Something similar happened to me when DD was about 2. I was doing something, can't remember what but it was likely laundry , in the middle of the afternoon. DS, 3 at the time, was playing in the back yard (fenced) and DD was in the family room watching a video on tv. Suddenly, I realized that DD wasn't laughing or singing along with the movie like usual, so I ran to check on her. And she's not in front of the tv. I call for her and get no answer. I run outside and call for her. DS hasn't seen her. I yelled for her again, and the neighbour pops his head over the fence wondering what's wrong. I must have sounded terrified. He helped organize a search posse of all the neighbourhood parents and we start combing the neighbourhood. He asked me a couple of times, are you sure she's not in the house. Yep. Positive, I had looked for her quickly and called for her. Well, by this time it's 10 - 15 minutes after I noticed her missing and I'm really nervous. We lived on a cul de sac just off a couple of very busy streets with a small walkway connecting some other streets. He insisted that I go back inside to check for her one more time before we called the cops and start looking past the walkway. So I went back in and called for her one more time.... and she answered! She had been hiding on me and she thought it was funny. NOT! I was so relieved and felt like such a moron when I told the neighbours they could quit looking for her... But at the same time, it was good to know that everybody would pull together for us.
