Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Blood Pressure UPDATE

I cancelled my appt. because I convinced myself I'd be fine (denial). I got a scare when I had blurred vision and a bad headache (thought I might be having a stroke). So I went back and my bp is still a little high. The doctor explained to me that the dose of meds is very low, and if I do some weekly exercise, eventually I won't even need it anymore. So, I'm now taking the meds dutifully until further notice. Oh, the headache and blurred vision? Turns out I'm having MIGRAINES too!! There was a white spot in my right eye, you know how it is when you have a flash photo taken? Well I had that and blurriness around the edges of it. I was SO relieved it was only a migraine and not what I suspected.

Yikes, sending some pixie dust your way. My brother suffered from migraines through most of childhood so I know how bad they can be.

Thanks Margo! That's really sweet of you. Does your brother still get migraines? I'm hoping I won't get them too often.

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

He doesn't get them as often. They started when he was a year old, yes, 1 year old. By the time he was 9-10 they were so bad that they treated them as seizures and put him on Dilantin. The neurologist predicted they might lessen or disappear once he was through puberty and thankfully, they did.

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

Nancy, I have high blood pressure and migraines and it can be scary when I'm having symptoms that haven't quite declared themselves to be one or the other! Migraines can announce themselves in really strange ways and I'm still learning what some of my triggers and warning signs are, even though I've had them for 15 years. While I don't take medication for my bp, I do have to self-monitor and call the doctor if it gets to or over 150/100.

Good for you for going to the Dr and being diligent about your meds. I've been slipping and not monitoring as often as I should - I'm going to go take a reading right now!

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

Sending you ixie dust: as I (not often T.G.) suffer from them too. Mine are usually related to sinus problems but have in the past had elevated B/P & Blood Sugar readings. Thanks for your posting as it reminded me that I need to go have lab work done.... ACK!!! (was suppose to do this right after coming home from WDW)

Hopefully you will be med free soon.

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

Thanks Debe! I never even thought about what could possibly be triggering the migraines. I will have to do some detective work and see if I can figure this out.

I'm glad you got it checked out. Hopefully the migraines will go away when you get that blood pressure under control.

Thanks for sharing that Belle. My bp seems to be generally around 140/100 (sometimes the bottom number is 98 or 99). I've recently learned that it's preferred that bp be no higher than 130/85.

I have no idea what is causing the migraines. I don't have them very often, fortunately. You can bet I'll be on the lookout for triggers.

Donna, thanks for your support too. I really appreciate everyone's encouragement.

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

Hey Nancy, I just caught this post - it sounds as if you aren't taking this lightly and I'm glad to hear it. My maternal grandmother (who was in her 70s at the time) and a very close family friend in his early 50s both died from stroke due to high bp - both were supposed to be taking medication but didn't take it when they felt their bp was "normal".

I hope your bp (and migraine situation) stays in check and it sounds like with an increase in cardio for you that should do the trick. Best of luck and prayers headed your way.

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

Nancy, sending pixie dust your way! High BP can be so serious, it is amazing all the different functions of your body BP affects.

My grandmother has had high BP for years, and her doctor told her if she could lose 10 pounds, it would drop her BP 10 points. Now, I am not saying that you need to lose any weight, but I thought it was an interesting statement. Also, bananas are good for BP, and grapefruit juice. Good Luck!

Oh, no, Nancy. I just ready this. I'm so sorry to hear about that - high BP runs in my family. Mine hasn't been too bad so far, except for when I was pg.

Re: Blood Pressure UPDATE

Wow, thanks everyone for your good wishes!! I'm really touched! You've all lifted my spirits.

Steve, I've heard High blood pressure referred to as the silent killer. Thanks for your prayers.

Michelle, glad to hear about the grapefruit juice, I got some just this weekend! And you're right about dropping some pounds. LOL!

Tina, I had preeclampsia during my first pregnancy. My blood pressure was so high they induced labor and my baby was born a month early. (Just in case you don't know what it is): "Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. It is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure, swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision. Preeclampsia is a leading global cause of maternal and infant illness and death."

I've been told that sometimes, an illness that appears during pregnancy, reappears years later - such as gestational diabetes.
