Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

DH wore his on our honeymoon. Found it a little tight when we got home so he took it off. We had it resized a while later and the same thing happened. His is in a drawer in the ring box and still looks new. To answer the question DH has worn his maybe 10 days in 28 years.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

DH never takes his off.
I, have not worn mine in years! I am afraid I will lose it, it was his Grandmother's and his mom gave it to me. She didn't give it to DH's 1st wife, his brother's wife, or sister for either of her 2 marraiges, so it is VERY special to me.
I do wear either a Ruby and diamond or an Emerald and diamond ring when I leave the house. Water, soap, and the chemicals in body oil are bad for the stones, so they come off as soon as I walk in the door.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

DF is a little concerned since he's never, ever worn a ring in his life. I imagine that it'll be no problem after a few weeks and I think he'll look awfully sexy in it! My brother has been married only 5 years and is on his FOURTH ring. I think he lost 2 and one he had to get cut off because his weight changed the second he turned 30.

DH had the same concern, except he did have a class ring in High School. He got used to it in a couple of weeks, and now it comes off very rarely. He has a majer depression left when he takes it off.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

You know, I can't really answer this for DH. Sometimes he wears it and other times he doesn't. He always wears it when he's on a business trip. I don't know if he wears it to work or not. I can't figure out how come it still fits -- he's gained 70 pounds since we were married!

I can't wear mine any longer. My fingers gained weight and I'm no longer a size 3 (ring). And like Dennis, it can't be resized due to the style.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

My DH doesn't wear a ring anymore...

He lost the first one while fishing (it's somewhere deep in the Atlantic), and was then wearing my father's wedding band. When my brother got engaged, we gave the ring to him (it just felt like the right thing to do), and he hasn't worn a ring since.

He just doesn't like to wear one - feels uncomfortable to him - and I don't really mind, so we never purchased another one. That's ok, I know where his heart is!

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

Well, for me, the only time I take it off is when I am in the kitchen making anything which requires mixing by hand (i.e. biscuits). So, for the past 33 years it has remained on. However I will be taking it off in the next few weeks and replacing it with a new band which we are getting.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

DH doesn't wear his because of the work he does. To be honest, I don't want him too. I shudder to think it getting caught in a piece of farm machinery.
I can't wear mine anymore. Have to get it re-sized!
To us, I guess wearing the ring doesn't matter. We know.
Almost 9 years now!!

DH wears his every day, but it comes off for bed and the shower. He gets that "naked" feeling without it, too!

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

DH doesn't wear his b/c he works at a power plant, and it's a safety issue. He does put it on for special occasions, but it doesn't quite fit the way it used to (it's only been two years )! Mine is on all the time. The diamond in my engagement ring was my grandmother's so it is extra special .

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

I don't wear my diamond anymore because the setting is loose and I decided that I am going to have the stones (2) reset in a piece of jewelry for DD's 16th birthday. I took my wedding band off for the end of my pregnancies because I knew that it was required to come off for the hospital (c-sections) and I didn't want to swell too much before it came off.

Dh takes his off when operating some types of equipment.

On the same subject, we had a truck driver here who climbed up on a ladder on the side of the dump trailer to check his load and when he jumped off her got his ring caught and it almost took all the skin off his finger. I was pregnant at the time and the blood made me so queasy, but I had to put pressure on his finger to stop the bleeding (he was about to pass out) and at the same time call for someone to take him to the ER. After that I never complained about DH taking his off when he thought he needed to.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

PS. I see a lot of farmers and truck drivers that come in here that are missing their ring finger from accidents that wouldn't have happened had they not been wearing a ring.

Re: A question for the dudes about wedding rings

DH rarely takes his ring off. Only when he's building something (and doesn't want to get it disgusting) or when I ask him for it so I can put it in the cleaner. I'm ashamed to say, I have mine off way more. With cleaning, making dinner, and bed time I generally have mine off. DH told me the other day that he saw it laying on the bathroom counter about a week before Christmas and thought about taking it and having some "friends" put with it. However, he reconsidered as he knew I'd be FREAKING out if I couldn't find it. Which incidently has happened with my diamond earrings. I couldn't find them a few days before Christmas, and thought DH was upgrading them as a surprise for the birth of DD#2 (with DD#1 I got a diamond necklace). So, I didn't think much of it. . .then along comes Christmas morning and no earrings! I was so upset! DH thought it was because I didn't like my gifts (we were on a small budget this year). I had to explain that I lost my earrings and thought he was possibly upgrading. I told him I'm not upset I didn't get new earrings--I'm upset I lost the pair he had gotten me about 5 years before! I still haven't found them. Our house has been a pit, and I figured it was God's way of telling me to get it cleaned. Well, it is on the pretty good side of clean and no earrings--needless to say, I was very upset this weekend. . .I hope they turn up! Yikes. . .boy, did I digress! Sorry!
