As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Thanks Papa Mouse, I already have a good list of recommended restaurants (seafood and other.) We'll be staying in the Back Bay area, but I'm not limiting restaurants since we'll be doing a lot of touring over the entire city. I just need to decide which ones we will visit .
Fenway is such a small park, there really isn't a bad seat in the place (unless you are behind a pole - those aren't good, but they would put obstructed view on your ticket). We are moved to the bleachers for the playoffs and have had an amazing time; even when we were in the 'nosebleed section' in 2007.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll enjoy the experience even with sitting at an angle! Don't even give it a second thought! You are going to have a fabulous time! You're just going in prepared. If you use Twitter, you might want to sign up to have the Red Sox tweets go to your phone during the game. (Be prepared with your seat information in a tweet ready to send to the Red Sox twitter page..."Tweet your seat"). They sometimes give free seat upgrades. We've been there when people have been upgraded to Green Monster seats. Both my nephew and my son have won prize bags by doing random tasks. It's a lot of fun!

We've been back from our vacation for a couple weeks now and I thought I'd pop in and let everyone know where we decided to eat and what we thought of it.
On our day of arrival we headed straight over to Fenway to take the tour, on the way we stopped in at Boston Burger Co. where we actually didn't get a burger, but we shared a very delicious chicken pesto panini and some sweet potatoe fries. If I'd have had more time in Boston I may have gone back for a burger, we really enjoyed what we had there. After our tour (which I highly recommend to anyone visiting Boston who has the slightest interest in baseball or Fenway Park,) we went for a drink at The Bleacher Bar. We didn't stay long, but thought it was a very cool place and I'm glad that a friend recommended it to me. For dinner we walked over to The Island Creek Oyster Bar. We had a great meal there, but it was pricey and we thought that the menu was very limited. I would probably not return. After dinnner we went to the Red Sox vs. Yankees game where the Sox unfortunately lost. It was fun anyway! Thanks again to Dyan for all her great advice!!
On our second day we did the HOHO trolley and walked the Freedom Trail. For lunch we ended up grabbing a hot dog from a street vendor, we were starving and didn't see any where to eat in the near vicinity of where we were at the time. If we had walked around the corner we would have been at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, so I wish we'd have waited just a moment longer (or looked better at my map.) . Later that afternoon we stopped at Cheers for a drink and got some nachos which were not very good, but there was no place to sit at the bar and you have to order food if you sit at a table. It was fun to stop in there, but I don't recommend the nachos. For dinner we went to Atlantic Fish. We went late and did not have a reservation, which I didn't think to make. We decided to wait for a table outside and we probably waited 45 minutes or so. This restaurant was pricey too, but it was outstanding food and we liked the menu selections much better than where we were the previous night. I would definitely go back here (I'd be sure to make a ressie next time!)
On day three we had a very good lunch at the Granary Tavern which was near one of the trolley stops near where you get on the harbor cruise. For dinner we made our way to the North End and ate at La Famiglia Giorgio. We loved this place! The atmosphere was so quaint, the service wonderful and the food delicious. One piece of advice I'd give, is don't order a salad or appetizer because your dinner could feed an entire family!
One thing I didn't mention was that we stopped at Mike's Pastry and each got a cannoli. I had the chocolate chip and my DH got the strawberry. OMG, this was quite possibly the most delicious treat that has ever crossed my lips!! I almost didn't go because we are not big on pastries, but I'm so glad I listened to all the recommendations and tried it. There were only a few people in front of us when we went, so we didn't even have to wait in line more than maybe 2 minutes.
No mention of breakfast, because we skipped breakfast and had early lunch while we were there.
Day four we checked out of our hotel and headed to the cruise terminal where we boarded our ship around noon. We saved our appetites for the ship since food is included in the cruise fare .

Sounds like you had a very nice and very yummy visit! Thanks so much for the feedback. Too bad the Sox lost, but this year there was a pretty good chance that that would happen.
