As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I've gotta tell you guys.... I'm having heartache over not having a cruise booked, nor any plans to go on a cruise until 2014. It's making me twitchy!!!
We are doing a trip to WDW in May (that the munchkins don't know about yet),
and we're doing Hawaii/Aulani in 2013...
So obviously I can't complain officially..... but a good chunk of my traveller heart belongs to DCL and it's driving me nuts!!!!!
I keep trying to figure out how to come up with a spare $5K and try to get on a Christmas cruise (so we don't burn hubby's vaca time all up)... but the money fairy is not sprinkling anything over our house that I can see!
Totally just whining....I knew you would understand.

I totally agree, except I don't even have anything lined up to look forward to. My 3 y/o granddaughter was joining me today in wanting the Mickey boat.

I hear ya! I find myself being more excited about upcoming cruises than trips to the World. Though, Aulani may bring on the same feeling for me!
It's the pampered feeling without a care in the world. . . along with a Navigator waiting for me to pick my events for the next day. If only "they" made a Navigator for real life!
I understand. That is why I told my husband we just had to book a cruise out of NY. Really, now, when will Disney be back??? And we live in PA, so we can drive! And then, this December is his big 40 birthday, so what better way to spend it then on the Fantasy! So, I booked that, too. Now, I didn't tell our kiddos yet, but I did say we really need to save money for a Disney vacation. So hopefully they'll understand why I am working so hard this year. I just had the itch and booked them. Sometimes a gal has got to do what she's got to do! Now I am happy!
I know exactely what you mean!!! Our last Disney cruise was in 2010 but we're FINALLY booked on another one next year. So that's 3 whole years with no DCL I know it's not the end of the world but a little whining's still allowed
Now I just have to figure out how to get the next year over with! LOL
Been there and it was only cured when we booked our next cruise for summer of 2013. And that is too far away. But, it has cured that twitchy feeling of not having one scheduled.
I completely understand.....I was bitten by the disney bug in 2009 on my first trip to WDW (at 30 yrs old!) We went back in 2011...We are booked for our first disney cruise 12-2013 and time is DRAGGING! To make it worse yet, this free dining they release for WDW this week is really killing me! I just want to click "accept reservation" but I know my hubby will kill me. I wish we afford to do something every year, maybe 2 or 3 times a year From what I am reading on here, DCL is really that good huh? I am a little worried I will miss WDW and the castle and be disappointed, and I keep thinking for the price of 1 cruise we could see the world twice.

yeah, I think the cruise is 'that' good. Well, as long as you have a Castaway Cay day on there! That's heaven on earth! I'll PM you with my blog and you can read all about our last cruise if you are so inclined. And what we have done is fly in two nights early, then that day before the cruise we spent at Magic Kingdom. Got us a little park time still!

Can you PM me your blog information also? We are taking our first Disney cruise next month. I have been hesitant up until now because I figured it would be too hard for me to miss out on WDW for a year. I've heard great things about the cruise, I just wish the money and vacation fairy would let us extend our trip with a week in WDW so I can get my fix!
I'm suffering, too! Loved our first Disney cruise on the Dream in December, but didn't plan on going back for another year. Now I find myself strangely drawn to the cruise reservations site, just to see what's available. One of these times I know I'm going to push that PURCHASE button by accident/on purpose.
It is so good to get the notices when there is another post on these boards. It is sooo nice to know that there are others that feel this way.
Yes, Alisha, the cruise really is that good. I thought I'd miss the parks too. But, the food, the ocean, the food, the moonlight on the ocean, the parties, the food, the shows, the food, and a drink of the day every now and then. The characters are there, the Disney touch is there. You can avoid it or revel in it, your choice.
infinity&beyond, I know how you feel about accidentally on purpose hitting the purchase button. That's why I'm glad we scheduled a cruise, otherwise, my twitchyness of not having one scheduled might have led to the result of hitting the purchase button without thinking.
