How many Food Booths are there? A F&W Trip Report! 11/29 - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I like that sort of fate decision there - wherever the bus will take me.
Oh, those cranberry ladies! I had forgotten.... after running the Wine and Dine Half marathon and entering Epcot for the after-hours party, there were 2 ladies in the bog dancing and singing and having a grand ol' time! It was hilarious. And the bog just didn't seem the same after that!!!

More great photos from Epcot. Love the SE ones especially. Not easy to have them come out so well, while on a moving object and in the dark too. How did you do it? What camera setting did you use?

Having grown up in "cranberry country" it was odd seeing the little bog in the middle of Epcot! Every time I went by there was quite a crowd and it always seemed to be the same poor guy wading around in the berries.
We saw the same guy on several days--I kind of felt bad for him--trapped in that watery, berry mess!

I wish I had seen those two!

Nope probably not a good idea--cranberries have lots of fiber!

Indeed! Since you seem to have taken back my (our) house, I couldn't resist stealing the man!
I continued my solo afternoon with a walk around World Showcase. One of the things I knew I wanted to do was purchase some of the re-purposed park map jewelry in the Outpost. I looked for awhile and decided to come back when I wasn't in a shopping frenzy. I would make better decisions when I wasn't bent on spending money. I took some photos and had a glass of champagne--Moet Ice Champagne. I was surprised to see actual ice cubes floating in it as I'm pretty sure I've never seen that before. However, upon returning home, I discovered that it's exactly what was intended! Moet designed this bubbly as a summer treat with hints of lemon and mint. Think about taking it out on the porch on a summer afternoon or evening! (Just in case you are wondering you pronounce Moet with a hard T Mo Et --not Mo Eh--Moet Hennessy*Louis Vuitton is now one of the world's largest suppliers of luxury goods! They also make Dom!) Anyway--wine lesson over, I like Moet and all of it's products, but I'm partial when it comes to champagne to the Widow . . . that is Veuve Clicquot!
I'm not sure what I was looking at or for when I took those . . anyone?
I walked into the store in the UK after making a circuit and found my dear friends with no line!
Notice that my "jeans" are capris . . . When I held them up to myself in the store it looked like they came right past my ankle--guess what--not so much. They were on sale for all of $7 so I picked them right up--without trying them on. I almost never wear Capri length anything because they make me look shorter and rounder. I prefer the length that fall just below the knee if I'm going to wear "short pants." However, this particular pair ended up being so darn comfortable that I didn't care. I'm sure they'll be right back in the regular rotation once it gets warm again--and you may see them in the California photos as well, but I might try cuffing them.
From the UK I headed back into Future World because I still hadn't heard from Brandon and it was now late afternoon. I walked right on to an empty Journey into Imagination.
I miss the original ride so much!
Still no word from Brandon so I sent him a text and woke him up. He was going to get in the shower and come meet me--apparently he fell back asleep after that because I didn't hear from him again for an hour. I spent the hour walking around WS and finally making a purchase at the Outpost. I bought both a bracelet and a necklace and I wear them all the time.
Brandon texted me that he was at the bus stop. I went back to the UK, I think I used the bathroom, and grabbed a Strongbow Shandy and I had time to catch the last performance of the World Showcase Players and it was so funny that I forgot to take pictures--the girl they picked to be the evil hag had consumed a few adult beverages--and so couldn't follow directions very well, which added to the hilarity! It was starting to get cold and dark and still no Brandon.
I stopped at the Canada booth and got some Cheddar Cheese Soup, which was still tasting slightly of flour. I was still hungry so I went to the UK booth and got another helping of Fisherman's Pie and the cheese plate. The bread that comes with it has nuts in it, so I tossed that immediately. The Fisherman's Pie was still a little runny, but it was hot and I took that and my cheese plate back to Canada to watch the last set of Off Kilter. I'd never seen them before and I really, really enjoyed it! I also enjoyed the people watching! I managed to snag a seat, because I was a little early. However, there were a bunch of people, who had also clearly consumed several adult beverages, who were trying to take photos and dancing at the same time!
Brandon finally arrived at the end of the set. He waited about 30 minutes at the bus stop and then went back inside because not a single bus had come in the time he was there. I don't mean that a bus for Epcot hadn't come--no buses had come! He talked to someone at the front desk and they made a call and there apparently was an accident somewhere. He was told that a bus was on it's way. Well it showed up about 40 minutes later--so Brandon all told waited an hour and 30 minutes for a bus. Add the ride time from AK to EP and the time it takes to walk through the gates and to WS and it took him almost 2 whole hours to get to me. I immediately commandeered the LS shirt he had tied around his back as it was freezing! We were both hungry and headed to France for seconds of the chicken and escargot.
After we ate we were both freezing. I gave back the LS shirt and went to buy a sweatshirt. I'm wearing that 2011 hoodie in my freezing cold house right now! Maybe the best purchase I've ever made at WDW! We weren't sure where we wanted to watch Illuminations from--the bridge between France and the UK was already full--so we started walking in the other direction.
I got one of the recycled map necklaces, too, and love it! It's yellowy-tan, I think made from AK maps, so it's perfect for me! I've no idea what you were trying to capture in those two photos of the lagoon, but they do show what a pretty day it was! Glad you finally got to see Off-Kilter. Poor Brandon, waiting so long for the bus-- that's insane!
