As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Traveling with a few PICKY EATERS (children) on the DDP and was wanting advice on TS meals in all 4 parks. One is too old to eat off the childrens menu but was wanting to still get our moneys worth if possible. What are YOUR favorite restaurants???

Liberty Tree Tavern is family style, but pretty standard fare -- turkey, stuffing, etc. That said, my picky eater won't eat stuffing or mashed potatoes, so we skip LTT ....
I think the best approach for a picky eater is to eat at a buffet. The picky kids can get all the mac and cheese and chicken fingers their little hearts desire, and the grown ups can try all kinds of yummy things without choosing just one entree. That approach has worked well for us, as our group often includes not only my ultra picky DD, but my vegetarian brother and my niece who only eats chicken.
Buffets in the parks may be a bit trickier. Crystal Palace is quite nice. It's not a tough jump to 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's either.
We aren't thrilled with dining options in AKL. But we love Boma.
Biergarten is often rated highly by (and for families with) children, though we've never eaten there.
I agree, buffets are the way to go. We loved the Tusker House breakfast at AK, never tried lunch or dinner. Crystal Palace was good. Most places will accommodate a picky eater. My son had mac and cheese several places when it wasn't on the menu (Ohana). We just asked and usually they had something for him.

Buffets allow kids to eat adult food and adults to eat kid food.

Talk to your server as sometimes you can get kids food for adults but in a larger portion. Staff often can arrange to meet the needs of guests especially the kids who are 10 to 15 which put them on the adult menu. 10 to 15 year old kids can prefer kid food or small portions so chefs adjust to those needs.
Not everything is on the menu such as allergen free, kid items, and low carb.

We love Tusker House in AK, Crystal Palace & Columbia Harbour House in MK, Rose & Crown and the English Fish & Chip shop in Epcot & Hollywood & Vine in HS.
We also never miss Chef Mickeys at the Contempory resort.
We ate at Biergarten last year and my son, who has autism and eats a very limited diet, did not go hungry. The food is basic German home-style cooking (according to my husband, who lived in Germany as a child): roast chicken, salmon, salads (the wurst "salad" is so much fun!), roast potatoes, pretzel rolls, apple struedel, etc. They have mac and cheese and mini-hot dogs for kids, plus a nice vanilla pudding with chocolate chips that worked as a dessert for our guy who doesn't eat fruit. Most kids would probably also eat the meat patties (like small hamburgers) and the spaetzle, which are like lumpy noodles, served buttered.
We also like Boma at AKL (an easy five minutes from AK) very much; chicken nuggets and mac and cheese for resistant eaters, and yummy familiar yet somewhat exotic foods for the rest of us. The soups were outstanding!
We eat CS for most meals in the parks, so that's about all the TS I have recent experience with. I ate at Crystal Palace, Liberty Tavern, and Le Cellier so long ago that I know they have changed a great deal. But LT is a possibility if your kids want stuff that looks like what they would eat at home served family-style: turkey, ham, roast beef, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. This is the dinner menu though; I think lunch offers more things like sandwiches now.

My son is very picky and he usually enjoys Garden Grill in Epcot. He will eat from the kids menu and adult menu. I was very surprise when he tried the fish and liked it!
