As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Luckily, I don't have a holiday birthday . . . but my birthday DOES always fall on payday (Oct. 15). It also happens to be designated as National Grouch Day . . . which DH says is "about right".
DD was born on March 9, which in 2011 will be Ash Wednesday.
DS was born on October 9 which is (the little known or observed) Leif Erikson Day.
DH's birthday is Feb. 18th, so his birthday falls on Presidents Day every few years.
My dad's birthday is September 11th and while it isn't a holiday, my dad has said that he will never be able to forget what day his birthday is on ever again since he spent his entire 48th birthday watching TV and feeling sad.

I have an uncle born on Leap Day. He's about 80 now and has really only had 20 birthdays. His daughter was born on April Fool's Day.
I have a niece born on April Fool's Day, whose mother (SIL) was born on St. Patrick's Day.
My son was born on December 27th. We try to have his kid party in early January after school is back in. I was born on May 1st (May Day) and my grandmother (born in Poland) never forgave my mother for having me on Communist Day. Like she had a choice in the matter!! lol

My birthday is in early April, so it sometimes falls on Easter weekend.
I used to tease my mom that I only had bunny cakes as a kid, but I know that isn't true.
My brother's birthday is October 30 (he just turned 40) and EVERY year my mother makes him the same jack o'lantern cake. The really funny part is that he has never ever eaten a bite of it.
My birthday is the day after Cinco de Mayo. Here in TX its widely celebrated so it was a lot of fun in my early 20's to early 30's. The clubs and bars were always celebrating and there were usually discounted drinks to boot!
A minor down side I had to it being in early May was that in college I ALWAYS had a final on my birthday, even when it fell on a Saturday!
The only other downside was that my birthday falls really close to Mother's Day some years. My DMom's birthday is in late May so she was always celebrating twice in May. But that all changed once I had my DD. I now get to celebrate twice and sometimes for the whole weekend if my birthday is close to Mother's Day like it will be next year.
We don't really have any holiday birthday's in our family.....
My ds b-day is Aug 6 and school here starts first week of August, so his bday has been first day of school a few times and is always the first week of school. I always have to rush to find out the teachers bday policy on sending in treats and passing out invites. We invite the whole class- so sometimes he is inviting kids that he just met and that is not always ideal.......

My bff's bday is 10/10.
Her hubby's is 8/8.
Their oldest bday is 11/11.
Their dd bday is 12/12.
Their youngest son was almost 5/5- but came a few days early and broke the cycle
I was born a week before Halloween on United Nations Day. I am a mutt with ancestors from many nations including Mexico, Azores, Great Britain, Sweden and other parts of Europe. The holiday fits me to a tee.

My birthday is December 29th. While not ON a holiday it is between holidays. Everyone is holidayed out and most people forget, that always bums me out! As a kid, school break, most people are out of town, hard to arrange a party of any type. But still thankful for it each and every year!!
Exactly!!!!!! Mine is Dec 30 so I understand what you are saying. I am the Eve of New Years Eve. Everyone forgets and they are getting ready for New Years Eve so they don't want to do anything or family is visiting. I find it difficult to get into the Birthday spirit being when it is. I always feel abit down. So, instead of waiting for someone to buy me a cake or get me gifts, I go out and buy my own and that way, I feel that atleast I have something. A very difficult time for me actually but I too am thankful for it and atleast I get to hold onto my that yr for as long as I can.
UUggghh I have the same prob as you I am either cooking all day or somewhere nI dont want to be! Mine is Nov 26th. One time my mom even forgot my bday when I was younger! She put a candle in the pumpkin pie! My poor son will have a similar prob as his is exactly 1 week before Christmas.
OH, I feel your pain. My mom forgot my birthday one year, too. She called my brother all happy and singing - he had to tell her "you got the wrong kid, Ma"

My mil actually got her sons birthday wrong for yrs until he got his birth certificate and showed otherwise. Then, lately, she has been getting my hubbies birthday wrong too. Yes, she has abit of dementia now but this was before all this started happening.
I have accepted that people just don't remember my birthday with it being so busy. Kinda sad, but oh well.
