As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I've been during december and the daily temperatures had a great range. I´d
reforce the need of dressing in layers. In the morning and evening it will be probably chilly, while during mid-day (specially in a sunny day) a simple T shirt will be fine. Besides the actual temperature (60, 70,..) the "feeling" is also important. If it is sunny and you are out there it will feel warmer than in cloud and rainy days.
Try to follow weather forecast during december and early january in order to plan alternative suitcases. Worst case scenario: a drive to the nearest outlet or the disney shopp will help you adequate the clothes you´ve choosen!
If you've got room, I'd throw in thin long underwear just in case--the silky kind that dries overnight. Of the 12 days I spent at Disney last winter, one was hot, one was rainy, the rest were frigid with some record-breaking lows.
We went last year in January and the weather ended up perfect. It was an average of 70 every day. The weather forcasts were right on and so we went by that. I brought a variety of clothes. At night our baby, then a few months old, got chilly, but we had blankets. Our very first day I dressed the kids too warm with long sleeves and they complained...then I started bringing light jackets but I was the only one that wore mine. My DH and kids were so "busy" they stayed warm. We swam in this weather and it was perfect too...............I LOVED THIS TIME OF YEAR! ALSO NO CROWDS!!!

I think it all depends on what you're used to. The last time I visited in January, I went from 8 degrees at home to 65 degrees in Orlando. It felt hot to me. I usually wore a t-shirt with a light sweater over it. Most of the time, the sweater had to go. I think for my upcoming January trip, I'm going to check the 10 day forecast and pack accordingly.
Excellent I'll start finding gloves and scarves for DD...good thing I work at a kids clothing store.
Also how about hand warmers? Costco has a box of them right now and I though of picking one up, nice to slip into the shoes, gloves, and hats. They were always a life saver when I was in marching band and had those cool weather competitions and parades.
We will be coming from Idaho where it'll be anywhere from 20-40. DH checked a weather website which was predicting warmer/dryer weather thanks to La Nina.

Hand warmers are a great idea! We took a few with us when we went in 2008 (also the first time we had to wear gloves), but we didn't have to use them until our last day. They're small enough to pack in a diaper bag or back pack, so it's definitely a good buy.

Yup. Layering as others have said is definitely key. We went end of Dec last year and while the first few days were fine (jeans, long-sleeve shirts, fleece hoodies to take on/off as needed), the last 2 days though were definitely hat and glove weather. By our last day (12/29) it dipped down to the mid-30's by the time we were waiting to watch the fireworks at MK. We even wound up buying two blankets from a vendor to wrap around us and place under us while we were waiting. I saw some poor kids out there in shorts that were freezing! Oh, those fleece vests work really good too if you can pick up a few of those. They're not too heavy like a jacket would be, but do the job.
I would throw in a few wintry layers just in case.
The weather reports for our stay right after New Year's were for the typical mid-70's daytime highs with nights in the low to mid-50's.
Except the weatherfolk forgot to mention what they'd predicted to the Arctic front that dipped down past Orlando the day after we arrived, bringing windchills in the lower 20's and below freezing lows more than one night.
We were there for New Years as well; my advice is - don't trust the weather forecast!
I wore a t-shirt and capris in 75-degree weather the first day of our trip, and by the last night (during the record-breaking lows) I had layered my only pair of jeans over those capris, had a jacket and long-sleeve shirt over that tee, borrowed the warm hat my son bought in Norway, AND wore the dollar-store gloves my family laughed over.
