As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Which restaurant in the World is the best for celebrating an adult birthday
Our April trip will be a celebration of three birthdays our arrival day actually falls on my mom's 54th birthday so I would like to celebrate at a great restaurant and surprise her with a cake. Anyone have any great experiences at specific restaurants that they could share? Or any general opinions?
Only restriction is that we will be on Basic Dining plan, so 1 credit meals only. Can be at any resort or park......

Well first I was going to suggest the Cali Grill during Wishes until I saw the 1 credit stipulation (I still might do Cali Grill and just give up another TS or pay OOP for another TS). Haven't been there yet, but it's at the very top of my Must Do list.
And that's also if you mean "fancy" when you say "great". But you might also want to think about "fun" places to celebrate a bday. We had an absolutely fabulous time at 50's PT and I am laughing now remembering our "Mom" (Mary Anne -she was the best!!) I'll bet that WCC at WL would do something fun for a bday. Best advice is pick some place she would really enjoy.
My choice for a fun birthday meal would be 50's Prime Time or Chefs de France. It's always such fun to eat at 50's ;Chefs is more subdued , so it depends on what atmosphere you're looking for I guess. If children are involved, then I'd say 50's!

I was also going to say California Grill but then saw the 1 credit dining limit. What about Artist's Point at the WL. I don't think that requires 2 dining credits. The food and atmosphere are great there.

Margaret and I got to see the Cubs play in October. They won!
If she wants a fun birthday I would say WCC at the WL or 50's PT at DHS......if you fancy without 2 credits I would say Chefs de France or GF Cafe or Maya Grill at Coronado Springs........BUT nothing beats Cali Grill for b'day with the fireworks.....cept maybe Narcoossee's with the fireworks.....
What we do if we want to go to a 2TS, is save 1TS, and eat CS, paying OOP depending on what time we arrive, if we arrive late and missed lunch, we just use our CS credit for dinner.
My fav 2TS is Narcoossees' in GF. Timed for Wishes.
Some fav 1 TS are LeCellier, Chefs de France, Tutto, Kona, Boma, Yak & Yeti, and GF Cafe.
We thought GF cafe was wonderful, great service, and great food. We both ordered different steaks, and both were very good. It's also more relaxed, you don't feel like your being rushed out. We had a window table, and it was very nice.
In Jan, we've booked GF Cafe for our lunch leaving day.
I celebrated my birthday at Tutto Italia. I got lots of attention and a special dessert with a candle in it. Then about 6 waiters came over and sang Happy Birthday to me in Italian! The food was delicious, the waiters were hot, and I was competely happy with my choice.
I'd love to celebrate a birthday at 'Ohana personally... so much wonderful food and great atmosphere. If you time it right you can see fireworks as well
Thanks for the input so far everyone! Whispering Canyon and Ohana have caught my attention so I'll be looking into those a bit more. We aren't the fancy food type, one of her favs is Sci-Fi if that offers any insight...not exactly easy to celebrate in a car sitting in the dark though, lol.

We celebrated dh's 40th bday at LeCellier in June. It was great! Kinda low key, but definitely a nice celebration! He got lots of Happy Birthday's, and his chocolate moose had Happy Birthday Jeff written in icing around the plate. Very neat! And he loved it!
If one of her faves is Sci Fi, definitely go to 50s Prime Time! We have such a great time for just a regular dinner, I couldn't imagine what the staff would do for a birthday!
There are places with better food and views but for a truly memorable EXPERIENCE, go get some meatloaf, drink a huge milkshake, and put your elbows on the table & don't eat all your veggies so you get "yelled" at!
