Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Ice Hockey puts lots of miles on your car - COMPLETE!! 8/1

My dd has been up at National Development Camp in Rochester NY for almost a week now. Luckily for me she got a ride up with a teammate that was also going up. Being asked to attend National Development Camp is a big deal as it is run by the Women's Olympic Hockey program and is your first step to the olympic team. I was so proud of my dd when she was asked to attend and knew that she would have a fabulous time but she left last Thursday morning and I'm more than ready to be reunited with her now. Unfortunately I still have a bit to go before I can see her. I'm working today until 3:00 then my 5 1/2 hour car ride to Rochester begins. With the hour that I'm leaving I'm hoping the trip won't take more than 6 hours and that I'll be in Rochester by 9:00 pm. Unfortunately that isn't when the reunion will occur. I will then check into my hotel for the night and then I will get to see my dd Wednesday morning. I am very excited. We have been talking on the phone every day but it's not the same and we haven't been away from one another this long ever.
Our plan for Wednesday is for me to watch whatever is happening at camp until camp is over. I'm hoping that my dd will make the All Star game that is happening at 9:30 am but they aren't picking that team until tonight so I will have to wait until I arrive in NY to find out. Even if she doesn't make the All Star team it will still be fun watching the games the girls not in the AS game play. When all camp activities are over we have to head to a great hockey supply store to look for new skates and gloves. After that I will proceed to put more miles on my car by heading from Rochester NY to Milford MA. DD is in a hockey tournament this weekend and it made no sense to drive 5 1/2 hrs home on Wed only to get back in the car on Thursday and drive 5 1/2 hours to MA so from NY we are heading 6 hrs to MA where we will settle in for the weekend. Thursday will consist of doing all her camp laundry and swimming in the hotel pool. The first tournament game doesn't start until 8:10 am Friday morning.
I will update periodically during my trek. I will have to set my tripometer to see the total milage I put on my poor little car from today thru Sunday. Wish me luck. It will be my first 5 1/2 hour car ride by myself as my dd is usually with me.

I feel for you on the driving. My daughter plays travel basketball and we are gone a lot. I thought basketball season was just during a few months in the winter but I found out quickly it is a year round thing.

My middle son went to University of Rochester, so I did that drive many times, heading north on 495 instead of south. It is a long, rather boring drive with not much to see but highway. It also tended to snow a lot. Drive carefully and try to avoid Albany around rush hour. Have a safe trip!

Thanks for the tip but I don't go thru Albany I go thru Syracuse where I usually get snowed on any time from October thru April

I managed to have the easiest most uneventful ride up here I have ever had. I got here in 5 hours exactly with 2 very short stops. I thought I wouldn't get to see Kelsey until tomorrow morning but I got to go by the dorm and meet her in the lobby. Of course I was handed a bag of dirty laundry and prior to my arrival she had asked me to go thru the McDonalds drive thru and get her and a friend some McFlurry's. I was so happy to see her I would have brought her pretty much anything she asked for.

Well they picked the All Star teams for tomorrow's game and my daughter made the team. It is another big step toward her ultimate goal which is to play on the women's olympic hockey team. The next winter olympics is in 2014 in Russia. Oh my!!!!! I wonder where the 2018 olympics will be held hopefully closer to the USA.
Next up a game with the top 15 yr old players in the entire United States and my daughter is one of them!!!!!!!!!

Kris I tried to go online and look to see where your daughter is playing. May I ask where and what time on Saturday? Katie and I are only about 40-45 minutes away. I tried to sent you a p.m. but I couldn't get it to go...

Congratulations on your Dd making the team. How exciting and what a wonderful goal.

I was talking about the drive from Rochester to the Boston area, not PA. A few times we cut across Vermont to avoid Albany but usually decided to bite the bullet and head down to the Mass. Pike. On the way out, I usually stayed overnight in Syracuse so I could head out after work and not try to make it all the way to Rochester (7+ hours without snow). I do not miss that drive.

If you are coming in tonight, there should be one more hot day before the gorgeous weather comes so I hope you get to spend a little time outside and enjoy New England.

Well I got up on Wednesday morning and quickly showered and headed to the dorm to pick up the rest of my dd's stuff then I hit BK for breakfast. I then went to the rink to wait for the activities to begin. The girls that weren't in the All Star game were playing in a 3 on 3 round robin so I watched that until the All Star game started. The All Star game was very fun to watch. Regulation time ended with the game tied 2 - 2 after my dd scored to tie the game. Kelsey's team won in overtime. After the game Kelsey and I met with a few prep school coaches and then headed back to my hotel so she could shower before we got on the road. We hit McDonalds for lunch (again - I had McDonalds for dinner the night before since it was right next door to my hotel and Burger King for breakfast so I'm pretty sick of fast food) and then we hit a great hockey store called Perani's and Kelsey found the skates she wanted. After she was done spending $470 we got on the road. We had already put 350 miles on my car when we left for Massachusetts which was 6 hours away. The drive was very easy thank god. We left NY around 1:30 pm and got into MA after stopping twice for very short stops around 7:30 pm. We unloaded the car and went upstairs to get organized and eat our fresh baked cookies (yes we are staying in my favorite hotel chain Doubletree because they give you cookies at check in) we got all the dirty laundry together to do wash today and ordered room service since I didn't have it in me to get back in my car and find someplace for dinner. I had a french dip and salad and my dd had a bbq pulled turkey sandwich and a salad. They were both very yummy and then we watched tv and went to bed. Up on Thursday is laundry and rest before more hockey starts on Friday for Kelsey.
