Skyler's Last Weekend as a 2 Year Old in Dinosaur Land 6/25-6/27, 2010 PTR - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Skyler's Last Weekend as a 2 Year Old in Dinosaur Land 6/25-6/27, 2010 PTR
Hi everyone. Next weekend my DMil, DS, & I are off on a little weekend getaway.
Our cast of characters:
DMil-Laurie, a wonderful woman, Mil and Grandma to Skyler. This is her first trip to Dinosaur Land.
DS-Skyler. My wonderful little 2 year old (turns 3 a week after we get back) whom I can't get enough of. 1st Trip to Dinosaur Land.
Myself, Becki. I am a 27 year old mom to Skyler and love spending as much time with my little one as
possible. I also love spending time with my DMil Laurie,
who is just a true joy to be around. I also love Dinosaurs and loved studying about them in school. This is also my first time going to Dinosaur Land.
When we're traveling- Friday, June 25- Sunday, June 27, 2010. We are leaving around dinner
time and it is about an hour drive away from us.
Where we're traveling- Dinosaur Land Welcome to Dinosaur Land, located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley!.
I am still uncertain as to where we are staying, but probably somewhere either in Winchester, VA or Front Royal, VA, as thy're both very close to Dinosaur Land. Laurie hasn't told me where yet, but that part can always be added in once the TR actually starts. Oh the suspense!
DMil Laurie and DFil Miguel were planning to take Skyler this summer and DFil Miguel has to reforee Soccer Games that weekend, so he is unable to go with, so Laurie invited me to come along. It will be a lot of fun to see some gigantic dinosaurs up close!
I also am uncertain as to where we will be dining next weekend, since I didn't plan the weekend, but knowing a few of Laurie's & my favorite places to eat are a close drive away, I'm pretty sure Cracker Barrel, Waffle House, Sonic, and Denny's will be on the list (as there are none that are a quick hop, skip, &
a jump away from us). I will update that too in the TR, an will hopefully have some food porn to share too, even if it is simple meals. I know Cracer Barrel will be a must and Chicken and Dumplings with Fried Apples will be what Laurie & I wwill get as she got me hooked on them and craving them for a year now (I tried them on our weekend to Arona, PA for DSil's Bridal Shower and we had dinner at Cracker Barrel. They were delicious).
This will be Skyler's last weekend as a 2 year old and turns into a newly minted 3 year old. Boy do kids grow up fast and time surely flies by hen you
become a parent. Skyler will get to spend the weekend with his two favorite
Ladies (mommy & mimi), especially since Skyler is Laurie & Miguel's only
Grandchild.
Up Next: Can we see if I don't overpack for a weekend get away?

Great start - have fun - be safe and give us all the details when you return.
Happy Birthday to Skyler and hopefully you won't ge the terrible three's. For Evan it was like someone flipped a switch on his birthday and "demon" child showed up. Now that he is closer to 4 than 3 I'm hoping "Angel Boy" returns.

Thank you so much Heather & Holly. I will certainly tell all about our weekend away. Skyler's Birthday is July 3rd, which will be celebrated wirh his 2 Aunts & Uncles coming in for 4th of July Wweken Picnic Style at The DC Zoo. Erick has that day off and at some point that weekend we are seeing Toy Story 3.
Laurie got our hotel room booked for the weekend, and we know there is a pool. So we will also be doing some swimming this weekend. We are leaving around 4 or 5 pm and I'm still not packed yet. Good thing Erick is off Thursday night and Friday during the day to help me with Skyler while I pack us up. Our suitcase can fit Laurie's things in it too. I have been told that Dinosaur Land is a walk through place. But for a 2 year old it will be the right age for him.
Thanks Holly, I hope Skyler isn't even more of a handful when he's 3(my brother Matt skipped Terrible 2's and went straight to Terrible 3's). I'm sorry Evan has been a little deamon at 3 for you. Hopefully Angel Stage occurs sooner than later for you.
Tonight we're experiencing Skyler's First Allergic Reaction, which isn't fun and I am a scared mom as to what is making him have an Allergy to.
Thank you everyone. I'm not sure if it's food related, as he wasn't broken out in hives after lunch. I did give him a bath before we headed to Best Buy (and I've used the same Johnson's & Johnson's Head to Toe Wash on him since he's been born which is Hypo-Allergenic and dye free). Maybe it's the Laundry Detergent, Fabric Softner, or Dryer Sheet the wash cloth was washed with. Which means he probably needs to use the same detergent I have to use for
my clothes and no fabric softner or dryer sheet. We are having him allergy tested July 9th right after he has his 3 year old check up at our Family Doctor's Office (luckily their offices are right across the street from one another). He may not like Erick & I for 2 back to back Doctor Appointments, but I'd rather know what exactly he's allergic to than having to guess, and know how to help him with the things he's allergic to. Luckily one dose of Children's Benadryl, and a combination of putting Aveno Lotion and Gold Bond Lotion on him seemed to help with the itching. Erick thinks I'm crazy for practically putting together a portable pharmacy with for our weekend away and when we go to Florida, but knowing my luck, we may need them. Thank goodness we had the Children's Benadryl and Children's Zyrtec in the cabinet to give him right away when we got home. I know he ate the same things he usually does and we always have on hand for him and foods he likes (nothing out of the ordinary). Thanks everyone for the pixies for Skyler. It was certainly a scary moment for me when I've only personally had a rash/hives from wine (but knew to take Benadryl and never drink Chianti again), and Erick too knows how to control his own Allergies (even if it means I have to kill a bee for him or take a bee sting for him). We just haven't seen Skyler have any signs of Allergies until last night.
Thanks we're excited the room is booked. Can't wait to get away for the weekend, although that means we won't see Erick until Sunday night as he's working Saturday and Sunday full shifts.
