As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We stopped in Las Vegas for an overnight break on our way to southern California. This restaurant has long been one of my favorites but it is not always easy to pull off a linen napkin place with a nearly 2 year old and an almost 4 year old. We decided to try it with the knowledge that might need to cut and run at a moments notice. We did an early dinner and sat down at about 5pm. Just as we got our youngest in the highchair a waiter walked by with a tray and dropped a water glass, the thick bottom part came flying up and landed right next to our son. Shards were flying all over but lucky enough he was fine and believe me we checked him over very carefully. The maitre d was over in a flash and helped cleaned it up and got us all set.
I decided to splurge and get the filet mignon and stone crab. My husband got an appetizer plate with crab and shrimp, a salad with blue cheese and planned to nibble on my steak as well. We ordered the hashbrown potatoes and creamed corn as sides for all to split and grilled chicken breast for the boys. Our dinners, mine in particular, were amazing! I have only had one other steak in my whole life and even came close to being this good. The Crab was sweet and tender with the always delicious dipping sauce. The boys ate lots and behaved so well. My older son was fascinated by my crab claws. I gave him a few of the claw tips and he played with them so happily for most of the meal.
We were just finishing up our super yummy meal and the waiter brought us two desserts that we were offered free of charge for the glass mess at the beginning. We were very grateful and both desserts, key lime pie and havana dream pie, were so good! just as we finished my husband gave the waiter our credit card and asked to pay the bill so when the boys were done nibbling we could just go. It took him quite a while to bring us the bill and I was starting to wonder what was going on. He came back with the manager saying that we were not to pay for our meal. The manager apologized for the glass issue and stated how upset she was about it as they all have kids of their own and that is not how they usually do business. They were so sweet and we were in shock. It was not necessary and it was not a cheap meal to just comp like that. We insisted on leaving a very nice tip for the waiter as the service was excellent and everyone was so great with our boys.
Just before we got up to leave the older couple at the table next to us walked past to leave and the woman stopped to tell me how sweet and well behaved my boys were. I seriously almost cried. I know everyone dining in the front dining room rolled their eyes when they saw a family with small children and it meant soooo much to me to know that someone noticed how good they were.
I could not have asked for a better meal. Such good food, great service, all for free and then people telling me how good my boys are!!! Just heaven I tell you.
I know how many of my fellow PPers are looking for good food and family friendly service so I thought I would share.
I've eaten at that restaurant before (as well as the Joe's Stone Crab in Chicago) and I agree the food is exceptional (but pricey). I am so glad your service was excellent. I have a good friend who takes her kids out to nice restaurants regularly and they all know how to behave. I think it's great that you're teaching them young.

I'm so glad to hear your DS was alright ad that Jie's Stone Crab Manager was so kind to you and your family. That's what makes me love going back to them. My parents used to take my sister and I to the one in Miami as children and once as a teenager that I do remember and love their food and could never complain over lack of service. They do go way above and beyond and make the experience enjoyable for everyone. I'm so glad your family had a wonderful experience there even with small children and were even taken care of so generously by their Management. Congratulations on all the compliments on your children too.
