As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Disney Princess and Family\'s Most Magical Trip Ever .. Day 8
It's Saturday the official day before we leave. How sad! But really I know you can't stop time, but my goodness how it flys when you are on vacation!
Today we planned on FOR THE FIRST TIME ALL WEEK sleeping in! Yep -- no wake up calls just waking up when we "woke" up! Then if was pool day for the parents and "shopping" day for me, Bob and the kids! Of course Bob really didn't want to go, but I persuaded him that we wouldn't be gone all day -- just for a while and so he reluctantly agreed to go (that is as long as we didn't drag along the big double stroller and that we just rented one).
The children just loved playing in the fountains while daddy supervised them and while mommy shopped her heart away! I bought these two throw blankets from the "Disney At Home" store that were regular $55 and were on sale for $27.99! I scooped right up on that and noticed I wasn't the only one taking advantage of that sale -- there was a woman with 7 of them on the register while I was still shopping around! (Must have been Christmas presents I'm sure!)
Then I bought Bob some shirts for work (collared polo type shirts) and he was very happy! Then I bought some lego's for Zachary (as if he really needed "anything" else!) And I bought a sweatshirt for myself and a few other things.
Later that afternoon we decided that we should really get a start on packing as we had to leave very early the next day to head off to the airport. Of course there was hardly room in our luggage to bring home everything we bought so we ended up buying a piece of luggage in the gift shop. (And here I couldn't believe people buying luggage at Disney and paying probably close to double what you'd pay at home .. now I know "why" they were in there buying luggage!)
After all the packing was done we decided to take a "road trip" to visit the Wilderness Lodge. Bob and I had visited there before in 1995 and just fell in love with the place. (Might stay there one day if I get a good CM rate if I stay at the Disney Store permanently!). We caught the busses to Downtown Disney and from there transferred to a bus to the Transportation and Ticket Center and from there caught "Boone" to get directly to the WL -- boy did we not figure it taking us as long as it did to make this little adventure or we'd have skipped the whole thing! But I just really wanted my parents to see the Wilderness Lodge because it's so beautiful!
After visiting there and taking some pictures in the lobby and walking around a bit, we headed back to Downtown Disney where we caught a late night dinner at McDonalds and then headed for the last time on the busses -- back to the hotel.
I just couldn't help as I stared out the windows to realize how at the very beginning of the trip how I tried so hard to look at every tree, and every piece of scenery and just drink it all in as much as I could and hold onto that moment as long as I could! How fast it had all slipped by and how happy I felt to have experienced all this but how sad I was to see it coming to an end. Is it any wonder why I get misty eyed when I hear the music from the MSEP or when I see the Castle? Is it any wonder while watching the shows like Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast that I have to fight back the tears of emotion? It's such a magical place and to have the opportunity to not only visit there, but to stay there for any length of time, especially "on property" and especially with your children and your parents and sister too -- why that's just such a great gift from God I just can't exactly put that into words how blessed I felt and how I will cherish these memories for a lifetime! And how I will immediately start planning another trip upon my return home! (Will that be the only thing that keeps me sane?)
Tomorrow we leave to return home and although it seemed like "just yesterday" that we were so happy to have just arrived at the All Star Movies and noticed "others" leaving sadly and thinking -- that won't be us for a LONG time -- well -- that time had now come and it was our turn to say goodbye and to wish others a happy week upon their arrival at the most magical place on earth -- Disney World.
Thanks folks for letting me share everything! I really hope you enjoyed my reports! I'm always willing to help in anyway I can with anyone's questions about Disney or any of the resorts I have experienced! Just ask away anytime!

Hi Denise,
I have been thinking about applying to the Disney store here. Is there anything I should know to help get a job there?

Denise,
A GREAT REPORT!! It sounds like your family had a wonderful trip. It makes sense to me to go with the flow....of the people, weather, and kids while you are at WDW instead of trying to keep to the schedule I made at home in my dining room.
What wonderful memories you all made.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Re: The Disney Princess and Family\'s Most Magical Trip Ever .. Day 8
You are all very welcome! I love sharing all about my disney experiences!
And Wondacat -- I really don't know about any tips for getting a job at disney (other than being really happy and really bubbly and really into DISNEY) -- just hope that they are hiring and I think now is a good time to inquire as they are hiring for seasonal help only (which I have just gotten a job for seasonal so I'm so excited!) -- but the deal is that after Christmas sometime people leave and that means you get first crack to be offered to stay on board as a permanent employee whether it be part-time or full-time! So I'm hoping to get to stay on for a permanent part time basis after Christmas -- have to keep you all posted!
