As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I had to share. Last night my 3 year old ds decided he wanted to watch VHS tapes. I pulled out the tape from my first trip to Disney in 1994 and said lets watch this. He's excited to be going to Disney in August, so he was willing. OMG!!!! Watching that tape, I realized we were "THAT" family. You know the one, where the parents have no control over the kids and they don't even try. That was my parents. When we went then, I was 15, my 2 dsis were 8 and 4 and my dbro was 6. My parents and grandparents were there and my grandfather was the man in charge of videotaping EVERYTHING. We did a character breakfast at the Grand Floridian and no lie, my brother was such a brat that he was getting in all the characters faces. This was our first full day there and the day before, when we had arrived we had gone to a BK and he got a kids meal and the toy was a snake in a can, but he just carried that darn snake everywhere, including to breakfast. He kept swinging it around and hit Goofy and Pluto with it. Goofy kinda swiped back at him. Almost like an instinct. All the while, my mom is just standing there, trying to take pictures, not saying a word to him. My dad was eating and paying no attention to anything. Then after the breakfast, Pooh was sitting on a bench and there was a line of kids to see him and my bro climbs up and starts hitting the back of his head. Ugh. (He was later diagnosed as having severe ADHD and I am happy to say that my bratty brother has turned into a fabulous 21 year old, he works 2 jobs and is great and I'm sure if he saw this, he would be soooooo embarassed)
The icing on the cake this day was in front of the MK. My parents lined up ds8, db, ds4, and dgm for a pic (I was 15, way too cool to be at Disney with these people). You can see the train station in the back and my dgf is taping of course and he's getting the full view, zooming in and out and all of a sudden, at the bottom of the screen, ds8 leans over and pulls down db's pants.
My mother of course to this day doesn't see why I was embarassed.
Oh, and one last thing.....my ds fell asleep during the Spaceship Earth ride that, of course, my dgf taped. That's my boy

That is too funny, well on my first visit, I was in 4th grade. It did not happen at Disney but the WELCOME TO FLORIDA sign we stopped and took pictures in front of it. Yes we are dorks. But the other day I was looking at those pictures and my DBro42 (now) was flipping the bird to the camera. He also threw my shoe out the window on the ride there(that's amother story) I pointed it out and my Dgma was like he is not he was scratching his leg...NO HE WAS NOT. I called him on it later that night and he just started laughing. Jerk!! Not really but he has always gotten away w/ anything, he is the only boy.
im sure we all have our old video moments. i remember when we first went to WDW in 95' as my dad used so many tapes while we were on holiday, and editing was still a thing of the future we had to stand in special places with a sign that read 'Walsh's on tour 95 End of part one!' and so on. we got a few interesting looks, and in front of the castle we even had people taking pictures of us looking stupid with this decorated paper sign.

Back in the mid 80's...romping around Epcot and MK in mother and daughter matching one piece short sets (remember those one piece jumpers that you stepped into and had to get completely uncovered when going to the bathroom?!!) The print was red and white stripes!!!! It wasn't me... it was my sister and my mom who wore the matching outfits...real cute, huh? We crack up laughing every time we reminisce about it. But we had one heck of a fantastic time that year...our first trip to the Poly.

Oh God. How awful. I would kill my mother if she tried that. One year she got me and my sisters matching dresses for Thanksgiving. Would've been ok if I wasn't 8 years older than one of them and 11 years older than the other.
It looks our trips are going to kind of overlap. Maybe we'll see each other. Will you and your family be dressed alike? LOL
