We're getting there.... we are in the process of replacing bulbs as they burn out, we do use reusable totes and I have my own "market basket". We also recycle and try and turn out the lights when not in a room and such. It's hard to teach that to a 4 year old who doesn't like the dark!! The big thing we did this year is get the kids enviro friendly lunch bags. They pack a lot and having little plasic containers to fill really saves on lunch trash. It also allows us to buy in bulk instead of the more expensive pre packaged selections.

We have CFL bulbs, use reusable bags, recycle, have our thermostat shift when we're not home, do most of the laundry in cold water, and try to combine errands to use less gas.

I am watching oprah right now, and wonder why people are throwing away things like couches, poohbears and clothes when they can be donated!!

We recycle everything we can. We compost too. Use reusable totes for grocery items. We use CFL bulbs. Turn our heat down during the day. And we have planted at least 8 trees in our yard since living here!

CF lights for the last 10 years, keep the house at 65 in the winter and 80 in the summer, and recycle as much as possible beyond the local mandatory recycle and green waste bins (Our town has one refuse company and they just announced the people of the town exceed the goal and 57% of our waste is recycle. )

CFLs, reduce/reuse/recycle to the max, reusable grocery tote bags (the store also gives me .05 back on each bag everytime I use them - they've way more than paid for themselves!!) , green lunches for the kids, cold water for the laundry, programmable thermostats and we have a compost pile. Thermostats are set for 65 when we're home in the winter/58 at night and away, 75 at home in the summer/80 at night and away.

We use CFL's, recycle like crazy and the coolest thing is that we joined Freecycle - so anything we don't need anymore can be given to someone who needs it - at no cost. We replaced our entertainment center and posted the old on Freecyle. Someone else needed it and it didn't go into the landfill. I highly recommend checking this out in your area. We have three different Freecycle groups in our area.

I started working for Stonyfield Yogurt a year ago, and since then have become very aware of all things "Green". We do as much as we can at home... recycling, re-useable bags, reducing electricity, composting etc and more importantly supporting companies that are "greener" than others... SF is really unbelievable in what they are trying to accomplish concerning enviromental responsiblilty and I'm really glad other companies are doing the same... We use CFL's, reuseable bags, cold water laundry detergent with cold water, we leave lights off and only turn them on when need be.

We recycle, and use the reusable bags. Also switched to the plant based cleaners and use only cold water in the wash.

In addition to the reusable totes, CFL bulbs, recycling, etc, we also drive a hybrid.

To further our effort of going green, and to save money, we are having solar installed in June. Since Colorado has 300 plus days of sunshine a year, we have decided to tap into that resource.

Like I have said before, I'm married to Mr Environment. I'm green whether I want to be or not . We use the CFL bulbs, compost, practice the 3 R's, have a dual flush toilet (6 L flush for big jobs, 3 L flush for smaller jobs ), use the reusable cloth bags for shopping, most days DH takes the bus to work or rides his bike rather than drive and takes his lunch in glass containers (rather than plastic), use a programmable thermostat that allows the temperature to get down to 57F at night in the house, installed a 97% efficiency furnace last year, re-insulated our attic, use a rain barrel when I have potted plants outside to water (haven't had them for a couple years though), have a low-water front loading washing machine and use phosphate-free detergent, use LED Christmas lights instead of the older incandescent lights, mulch the grass clippings so we don't have to water the lawn so much, and probably a hundred other things I just can't think of because they're second nature. We don't have the hybrid car... yet.

Confession: This winter I was allowed to be a little un-green because I used an electric spaceheater to try to keep warm during our unusually harsh cold winter.

ETA: Just remembered a couple more things! I buy clothes at a "thrift" store, not only to save money but also because it's greener. And we have low-flow shower heads in our showers. I'm home all day, but I usually leave the TV off most of the day. I only have 3 house plants, but they are "air cleaners", plants scientifically proven to clean pollutants out of the air and none of them require much water.

I think reasonably so. We recycle our paper, glass and garden waste and use energy efficient bulbs and always turn things off when we're not using them. We refuse carrier bags as often as we can and try to walk when it's just a short distance, instead of driving.
