As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Do your kids....................
ever forget stuff?!?! Oh my gosh, you guys!! Today may be a record for me as I was at school 4 times!! The morning started out pretty uneventful! I dropped off Chris and Mike after, I swear, asking repeatedly if they had everything that they needed since I won't be home this afternoon!! They assured me that they had and so fine-then I come home to find Katie still in the shower and due to catch her bus in 5 minutes!! I quick run her to the bus stop putting her socks and sneaks on in the car!! Then I get home and Chris calls and says that he needs a note to run X-country this afternoon because he missed parctice yesterday because he had to work! Then Katie calls and says that her sports physical permission slip is due today, could I please bring it up?!?! It clearly states on the form that this is due tomorrow!! Then Mike calls and says he forgot his lunch money!! Oh my gosh!! I am scared every new time the phone rings now!!

Re: Do your kids....................
Oh my gosh Tara! That could be my house (except with not so many kids! ) Monday, DS left the house 2 minutes late to get to the bus stop because I had forgotten to make him a lunch and had to do it really quickly. He missed the bus and had to walk 15 minutes back home for a ride to school. Yesterday, DS was still in the shower at the exact time he had to leave the house to make it to the bus stop on time, so I drove him to the stop. Today DS left the house on time, but without the lunch that I had made him so I had to run down the street in my pajamas after him. When I got back in the house I noticed a form that DD was supposed to hand into her homeroom teacher today. I didn't get a phone call about that though, so I hope it's ok if she hands it in tomorrow.

Re: Do your kids....................
My son forgets to change his shoes. Sounds dumb I know, but drives me NUTS!
He has a ratty, and I do mean RATTY pair of sneakers that have holes in them, are just filfthy, etc. He wears them to play and to clean up the backyard, mow, ride the gocart, etc. These shoes should never been seen off our property.
My son has 3 pairs of brand new shoes lined up in the garage(we dont wear shoes in the house) just waiting by the car for him to slip on when we go into town.
Do you know how many times I have forgotten to inspect him before we leave, look down at the mall or walmart or even the dr's office and see the shoes from Hell on his feet????????
Im fairly sure people must think we lock him in the attic, never buying him food or clothing!LOL!!

Re: Do your kids....................
You were living my life this morning! Woke up and remembered we are OUT OF COFFEE! Drive up to the grocery store at 6:45 and the hours have changed to 7-11! UGH! Drive home. Rush the younger two to the bus stop barely making it as the bus pulls up. Then head to the store for coffee. Rush the slowest moving child ever to the middle school bus stop and in my haste to get him there - he forgets his lunch! My wife is running late to get to preschool on time, so I'll run the lunch up to school. Get halfway there - forgot the stupid lunch! Turn around and come home to get the lunch and then head back up to the school.
CRAZY!

Re: Do your kids....................
My kids are still young enough that I load their backpacks each day. Only once in a while do things get left out. It is much more likely that they'll leave things at school that they'll need at home (math book, spelling words, empty lunch box, agenda<homework assignments are written in it>, jacket, etc...). -HiddenMickey

Re: Do your kids....................
I dont think they ever grow out of it. My husband forget his lunch, the checkbook, whatever, almost every day.. I think if his head was not firmly attached, then that would end up left someplace too!LOL!!

Re: Do your kids....................
Oh Yeah!!
Let's see - in my van, I have 4, yes 4, Sarah coats that have been forgotten in the classroom - we've only been in school for 7 days! Mornings are chilly here - so a jacket of some sort is a must - but by recess time - it's forgotten - usually on the playground!! Luckily I work at school!
Yesterday - Jennie wanted a cold lunch, which her Mommy nicely packed. They left, then I get myself out the door, since I don't start till 8, officially. There on the counter sits the lovely lunch I made! Brought that in.
Today - Jennie wants hot lunch - leaves the check on the counter! Amanda, who is up at the high school, can't carry any more stuff - she's got a 40 lb backpack of books/homework, field hockey stick bag, sports bag with all the shin guards, mouthguards, etc, and her clarinet case - she doesn't fit on the bus! Today she has to drive down to Concord for a TSA meeting with her advisor, so she needs her official TSA blazer, and dress slacks, shoes, etc. Of course - it was also school picture day - can't be caught wearing geek clothes, so this all gets piled into Mom's car. I had to stay a few minutes late at the elementary - so I arrived at the high school just after they were dismissed (They go 15 minutes longer than the little guys!). She was walking down the sidewalk waiting for me, with her permission slip in hand - couldn't go without the signatures! She grabbed her stuff - and MONEY - since she hadn't brought any for their dinner stop, ran into Mr. Ross' van - and just got home now at 10 pm!! This high school stuff is for the birds!
YIKES!
