As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have read a few posts on a few message boards that are bothering me..I have no idea why there is so much debate and negativity over D23. Its no surprise that EVERYTHING in Disney is overpriced, the food, hotels and souvies and not really worth 1/2 of what we pay. I am sure we could find somewhere a lot cheaper to vacation. Noone is making us take vacations to Disney, I do it because I love how my family and I feel during the vacation and the care that Disney takes of us while we are there. All the extra touches. You know?
I personally think the magazine is something I am interested in, so I purchased it. Is it worth 65 bucks? Hmm... 4 issues of d23 Magazine full of info and pictures of things Disney... in my opinion. Yes, I do think its worth it... I paid the extra 10 bucks for membership because I wanted to, I had to have the free gift...woot woot! in addition to all the extras being a member gives..I think its fantastic.
My sister has a mag subscription to People Magazine and pays $100. I think thats insane! But hey, its something she enjoys, so what the hay...
The bottom line, is if you want to join D23, join...If not Don't... Obviously everyone has a right to their opinion, I respect that. I am just confused at what all the hoopla is about...
Just my .02
I have gotten comments made to me over the past couple of days about "I can't believe you'd spend your money on something like 'that'."
The way I look at it is, it is my money. And I can afford it.
I would have purchased the magazines anyway (since the only way to get it is by being a member or buying them each separately) . . . at $16 each plus tax, I would be spending $75 on them by the end of the year anyway. Also, I wanted the free Archive gift . . . and really liked a couple of the members only shirts and the pins. PLUS . . . there is lots more in the way of merchandise to come, so I would like to see that and be able to buy it.
Thank for speaking up on that. When on vacation you gota spend to really get what there to offer and Disney go out of there way to educate with entertanment from animal, history, culters from different countries, and amagination. take you from the present time to other times, let you see different ideas of what other thinks through their anamation. I also like the fact they are not forgetting the man who created it all by telling the next generation about him and his past. So to me going to Disney is worth the money, well they gota make a living too.
I had no complaints about the product itself and of course subsciptions to some magazines are more costly for an annual subscription, and of course it's a choice at the end of the day. I just think it a shame that Disney closed The Disney Club all those years ago and the perks that went along with being a member of that club with the annual subscription were also great and if I remember rightly even with inflation that annual subscription was a lot lower than d23?
My beef with d23 is that maybe the price (which is considered by some as high) is high in order to pay for the major advertising campaign that it provoked? Personally I was expecting something a little more A-MAZING from the campaign so I don't feel Disney managed my expectations ... yes I am aware that it was my own imagination that conjured up all the wonderful things 23 could have meant to me but that was the whole purpose around the campaign right? To make us guess what it could be? If I'm the only that felt that way then so be it but I just felt deflated and let down when it was finally (leaked) announced LOL
I was surpsied to see such a mixed bag of responses myself, I was leaning towards not signing up, but I am going to do it now. Like people have said, the magazine alone just about pays for it, and I think you get a free pin or some other gift along with the other benefits.
I don't think i'll use a chat room if they have one, but it's good to see them make a magazine again.
I'm just hoping they bring a UK-based subscription out as on disneyshopping.com it says that it includes postage to the US, but to have it sent to the UK is really expensive!

I was thinking the same thing. I was leaning towards "no" at first because right now $75 seems alot for ME (and I can only speak for me, obviously ). Then I read more about it and exactly how Sarah put it - who am I kidding - I'll probably end up paying more than that buying the mags seperately anyways . . . .

We just cant afford it at this point. Car repairs and Life ins. just ate up our tax refund and Disney money. I can ,and will if I can find it, purchase the magazine individually. Its easier for me to find $16.
I would love to join, and probably would have if it was somewhere in the $25 range. But right now (and much to my disappointment ) $75 needs to be spent elsewhere - or rather saved for a future character meal!! I'm very happy for those who did join and hope it's everything they hope it can be!!

Well, I'm personally not going to join, but if others want to, I say go for it. As long as we keep the discussions on a civilized level, I think it's fine to voice your opinion on D23 - good or bad. That's what message boards are for - to sound off.
I'm just hoping they bring a UK subscription out as on disneyshopping.com it says that it includes postage to the US, but doesn't mention anything for those of us outside of it!
You can ship Internationally. Im in Canada and I became a member. I had to pay more for shipping but I think you can still get the membership in the UK.
