As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

OK, so this is kinda related to the RSVP thread. We always send thank you notes, but with DD now in preschool, I find myself with a new dilemma. Preschool does not give out the addresses of their students (naturally). They allow invites to be sent to school and distributed as long as everyone receives one, so this is what we did for DD's party this past Saturday. Nine of the 12 kids from her class attended.
OK, so here's my problem. How do we handle thank you notes? Can't send them directly to the kids' houses because we don't have their addresses. I don't think we can send them to school because not all the kids attended. We *did* give the kids all goodie bags with a note inside that said, "thank you for attending my party," but, in my mind, this does not count as a thank you note.
Could your daughter write each one individually and take them and pass them out to her friends at school? Put them in their cubbies?
Now, before I say this, I'm a stickler for thank you notes. I write them for most anything, even gag gifts ("Thank you for the giant blow up policeman. He will help to keep me warm on these cold nights." ) My mother had me penning them as soon as I could write my name (and before that, she wrote them for me - i.e. "Thank you for the sit-and-spin! I enjoyed you being at my 2nd Birthday party." ). However, we had all the addresses for the kids, as they were all local and in the phone book. I think, in this case, the "thank you" in the bag might be just fine. Of course, if you the guilt will wake you up in the middle of the night, by all means, figure out a way to send that note!
We write Thank You's as well. But we get a list of her schoolmates that signed up to share their information. I'd have her take them to school, and hand them out or ask the teacher to put them in the kids bags maybe.

I'm also a big believer of thank you notes. However since you don't have the addresses of the kids that came, you could either have your DD write a note to each one and have her give them out or you could consider the note you put in the goodie bag as a thank you.
I'm leaning more towards the note in the bag as a thank you unless your sure that the note your DD writes will make it home to the kids parents.
The teachers will not mind you sending cards for the children who attended. The whole "they have to invite everyone" is so that kids don't get their feelings hurt by not being invited.
You'll be fine having her write a note and then delivering it to school. To help avoid conflict, you can do one of two things: 1) take the notes to the teacher yourself, and tell her/him what they are 2) she could send a note to all of the kids - with the ones for the kids that didn't come just saying "I'm so sorry you were not able to come"
Andrew has received a few thank you notes in school. The parents had our address because that's how they sent the invite. I think you'll be ok if you have the school give them to the kids.
I'm sure the "invite everyone" rule is so no one feels left out -- so I see nothing wrong with sending thank yous to school for the kids who actually came.
In the interest of full disclosure -- We're big on thank you notes in this house. When I was growing up, my mom's rule was esentially that I couldn't cash it, spend it, wear it or play with it until the thank you note was written. (Oversimplified, but you get the idea). One of our neighbors doesn't bother with thank yous because there were "too many kids at the party to thank them all" -- to which I say "you invited too many"
