Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Vegas Shows

Dh and I are probably going to Las Vegas in June. What are your favorite shows and why? I am possibly considering Cirque du Soleil (although not sure which one - KA or Mystere) and Wayne Brady (I think he's hilarious). I would love your opinions. . . The last time we went was only for about 2 days, so we really didn't get to do anything but sightsee, so I'm completely clueless about shows!!

Amanda - I've seen 3 of the 5 Cirque shows on Las Vegas - O, Mystere and Love. Mystere is my personal favorite. I the feeling of the show. It is most classic Cirque show of the 3 I've seen. O is technically brilliant. If you're into amazing ttechnology - I'd go there. Love is wonderful as well. It has a definite Cirque flavor and if you're a fan of the Beatle's it would be hard to beat. I haven't seen Ka yet - but want to.

Some other's I've enjoyed - Danny Gans at the Mirage - great impressions and you could take any one with you. He appeals to all ages. Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo. Great magician. Very folksy. His slight of hand tricks are wonderful! I'd to see Bette or Elton John, but the price tag is pretty high. Maybe if I win big some day.

Others I've seen and enjoyed - Rita Rudner, Seoncd City, Clint Holmes (although I don't think he's there now).

There are so many. Enjoy!

We saw Ka, O and Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil on our last visit and we felt O was the best of the bunch by miles. We just adored that show, it was stunning. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Cirque shows though - we love them all.

I have been to Vegas quite a few times so I am very excited for you!!! My favorite Cirque du Soliel show is "O" - is just like the water theme. Also, loved Danny Gans, Carrot Top, and Mamma Mia. This past October I went with my husband and parents and we saw The Producers and The Rat Pack is Back. Both these shows were excellent. I am in my 40's and can honestly say that the Rat Pack show was one of the best I've ever seen.

Another less expensive option is the American Superstars(I think that is the name - it is the one at the Imperial Palace). It is an impersonation show (Not female impersonators) and always a lot of fun!!!

Have a great time.

Beth

I am taking my mom to vegas in may. I have tickets to danny gans, rita rudner and the improv. She likes the Improv because you get to see three comics and the price is lower than other shows. And have decided to get tickets to see one of the cirque shows too, probably mystere I have heard such good reviews on it. Have fun in June!

I HIGHLY recommend Stomp Out Loud at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. High energy, amazing music made from ordinary everyday objects (ie: rubber hoses, kitchen sinks, brooms, sticks, car keys and even cigarette lighters) paired with awesome dance moves. It is family friendly and a must see!!! See link:

The only show I've seen that's also playing in Vegas is Blue Man Group (I think it's the same everywhere). We didn't care for it, though. Just not the type of entertainment we like, I guess. We thought there was no "story line" or anything. I don't know. But others have liked the show so you really gotta see for yourself. On the other hand, there are very few people who don't like Cirque, so maybe that says something also.

You know, you'd think living in Vegas, I would've seen more shows. I've seen 4.

If you are looking for showgirls (old Vegas) go to Bally's Jubilee. Depending on your tastes, they have clothed (expect to see kids) shows and topless (18+). A very good show. We were offered drinks and if I remember right, the waitress keep coming around.

Zumanity is another favorite of mine. Playing at NY NY and brought to you by Cirque. People either like it or hate it. It is all about sex. As soon as you walk in, performers are walking around in barely nothing. Hubby and I liked it, but if you go, try to get center seating. We sat along the side in loveseats. Great concept except that from the side, you miss a lot of what is happening on stage. Audience participation in this show. They do serve food. It is in a box, like you might get on an airplane, but better. Salads, sushi, etc. Drinks too, but not a full service bar. They have a select few and if you don't like them fruity, you're out of luck.

Amazing Jonathon (Sahara-was at the Riviera when we saw him). Amazing on TV. On stage... He was a hubby favorite. Not anymore. Audience participation (mainly to be made fun of.)

The last was isn't playing anymore, so that tells you how bad it was.

Oh, Thunder from Down Under (Excalibur). I know, you're with your hubby, but I want to say it was a good show, though the show room sucked. You know, women are mean when it comes to beefcakes. The line was long . No assigned seating, so there was a mad rush to get in the front. The seating was odd. Set up like banquet tables. If you were on the second level, there was no audience participation at all. The bar was hard to get too as the lines were horrible and the drinks watered down.
