As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

My Poor Kitty...
Morpheus, my sweet, precious, kitty, does not deal well with change or noise. That said...
Someone just bought a lot to build a house on down the street from us and started construction/excavation on Friday at 7 AM. They didn't stop the backhoe until 7 PM! And they didn't stop for Saturday or Sunday either. It snowed last night so there's no one working there today, but my cat is very upset from the last three days of noise. He jumps at every little noise now and his hair is coming out in clumps! I know it's just stress, but my poor kitty acts like he's losing his mind. It seems he's forgotten how to use the litter box now, too. And I don't relish having a bald cat. He's hiding under the laundry basket right now, shaking and jumping every time someone sneezes, scratches, or moves .
Any suggestions to help a suddenly neurotic cat relax?

Re: My Poor Kitty...
Ooooooooooh poor kitty! When I moved down here my cats were like that at first. We moved in June and DH had ceiling fans on all over the house. My boys were used to pedestal fans but had never seen the other type; also DH had two females that weren't too thrilled to share their abode! Poor Sullivan crouched and crept behind or under furniture. Gilbert got acclamated a bit quicker and staked some territory out but it was heart-wrenching to watch. I just tried to talk to quietly and when they let me, hold them, to reassure them. One of the females is now (two years later) their best buddy but unfortunately the other became outdoor cat refusing to enter the house. She's been missing for over two weeks now and I can't get over the guilt I feel that it's my fault for coming down and bringing Gilbert and Sullivan (my two boy cats) with me........
Just quietly reassure Morpheus that he's ok. Is he an indoor cat or both? He'll probably seek out a quiet hiding place....Let him....
Good luck, I know how devastating it is to watch an uncomfortable kitty lovey...

Re: My Poor Kitty...
I guess you could consider this a breaking-in period for the new baby??
Seriously, though, I can sympathize. We have three very pampered cats (all siblings, we got them from the same litter). Friends lived with us for 6 mos. when they moved to NJ...with their lab puppy. Our poor kitties lived in absolute terror; to this day they hate dogs and the sight of one sends them under the bed for hours(its the only thing they're more scared of than my 18 mos old neice!).

Re: My Poor Kitty...
Beaner, I hope your kitty will be doing better soon. Have you talked to a vet about getting some valium? I am sort of joking, but not really. Our cat freaks when it's time for a car ride (not that he goes anywhere all that often-just to the vet) Our vet has suggested giving him something to calm him down. Sometimes, I think these situations are more stressful on us than the animal since we see it freaking out and we stress out completely. I do hope he can get used to the noise relatively soon! Spetember..our cat is the same way when my nephew comes over. All he wants to do is hold the kitty and of course the kitty doesn't want to be held by a 2 year old.

Re: My Poor Kitty...
Chrissi,
I've gotten lots of good advice about my furbabies from people at this site:
www.greatpets.com
Go to the message board, Life With a Cat, Help! Problems and Solutions.
The fact that Morpheus is losing his fur in clumps isn't good. Poor boy. Poor you. Good luck!

Re: My Poor Kitty...
We've spoken to the vet before about kitty tranquilizers. Morpheus and his brother Cosmos are both nutcases in the car.
They are strictly indoor kitties due to the high population of predators in our neck of the woods.
Cosmos has developed a slightly different problem. Squirrels. They make him nuts! Our vet has suggested that it's probably just anxiety over the recent changes in our house. Lots of packing and parent-to-be activities are disrupting their schedule.
Morph hasn't lost anymore clumps today, but he is shedding profusely. The vet says to just give them both time and space to adjust, but I just can't stand the sight of my kitty shaking and cowering at every little sound . Maybe I'm the one who needs the valium!

Re: My Poor Kitty...
Long time vet tech. here(and owner of a slightly psychotic cat)-- go to the local health food store and buy a small bottle of Bach's Rescue Remedy. Give her 1-2 drops 3to4 times a day, depending on her size, and she will feel much better. It is a natural, homeopathic product that can, in no way harm her. I use it on all of my animals when needed, including my show dogs, which are worth more than the cars I have driven on the past!!!Oh, it also works great on humans, too!! Re: My Poor Kitty...
Beaner,
I too like wdwlovers (Denise) have a cat that is sooooo scared of car rides! She shakes and is miserable so the vet suggested something to calm her down....valium. Of course it's only given to her when she is going to the vet but it does help.
I hope your cat adjusts to the noise soon. Poor thing!

Re: My Poor Kitty...
Here's a bunch of ***Pixie Dust*** for Morpheus because that and lots of TLC are the only things that I can suggest to help right now.
I hope the noise stops soon
