As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I swear I\'m not PG, but sheesh...those baby shows!
I went in to flip channels and landed on the last part of Special Delivery or one of those. A woman gave birth to a boy and I was hit with an overwhelming sense of loss and actually started crying It's so *weird*, I've always wanted girls, I had 4 girls, I know that DH would *NOT* do well if we had a boy with the same issues that the girls have, I love my girls, so why do I almost *grieve* when someone (even a complete stranger) has a boy? and, no, unlike what every cashier has ever said to me for the last 7 years, I do *NOT* want to "try for a boy".

I also feel like something is missing since we never had a boy don't get me wrong I would never give up one of my girls for anything in the world but having a little boy would have been nice too especially for Jimmy. Unfortunately we are not in the financial position nor do we have room in our house to try again or adopt a little boy so I will just have to hope for grandsons someday!!

The baby shows have been making me cry for the longest time!
Now they've got that Bringing Home Baby show on right after A Baby Story, so they make you cry when you have one...and then think twice about actually bringing it home!
I've always hoped for a girl. I have far more girl names floating around my brain than boy names...always been that way. DH would be happy with either, as long as the kid was into baseball!

Re: I swear I\'m not PG, but sheesh...those baby shows!
They always make me cry but for me I always go hysterical when they show them with a woman having a natural delivery. I am probably the only one in this entire world who has ever gone into a depression just over having a c-section. Everyone keeps telling me that I should just be happy to have Joshua alive, but I can't help but feel robbed!
As far as boys, DH and I were both certain we were having a girl and that is all we wanted. Now that we have Joshua I am so so so greatful I didn't have a girl! I mean sure I hope to have on someday just so Todd can have his little princess, but boys are just the best!

I get that twinge every once in a while, and then I smack myself and say, "Snap out of it!"
I love babies, but I loved my toddlers, my preschoolers, my Kindergartners, etc. Every age they get to for me is just THE BEST AGE!

Re: I swear I\'m not PG, but sheesh...those baby shows!
I watched those when I was pg with my first one, haven't had time to watch much tv since. I have two girls and they are the sweetest little girls. I sometimes think we will have another, then I am not sure. I wish/pray for twins because I would really like to have 4 kids but I only want to be pg once more. I hope for a boy next but I will not care either way. I have tons of pretty little girl clothes.

Re: I swear I\'m not PG, but sheesh...those baby shows!
Valerie, lots of women feel depressed after a c-section. I wasn't depressed, the only thing I was unhappy about was not getting to hold my baby after delivery. I had two and the first one was the day after I found out I was having a c-section. I have big babies (I am 5 ft tall), 10lbs and 22 1/2in and 10lbs 11oz and 22in. No, there was nothing medically wrong with me, I just blame my dh. BTW-I was a weeble wobble I am 60in tall and I am 54in around (both times) when preggers. But I digress, I hope you do not feel depressed about it now. I had planned a natural childbirth with no medication and ended up with a spinal block and a morphine drip. Childbirth is unpredictable but in the end a healthy baby is all that matters. We grew them in our bellies into healthy little sweetie pies. You have a precious little boy and I have two precious little girls and we should be proud of ourselves no matter how they got here.

I can't watch those shows. Makes me sad because I don't think I am ever going to have kids.

Re: I swear I\'m not PG, but sheesh...those baby shows!
Dawn, I know what you mean about the "when are you going to try for a boy" routine. I do want to have another baby and everyone assumes that because I have 3 boys, it's because I want a girl. I really don't think I would make a good girl mom. I would love another boy. I love my boys. I wouldn't trade my boys for anything. (If I could guarantee a boy, I'd be there in a heartbeat!) I still have a few years to decide. God gave me these boys and I'm gonna do my best to raise them!
