Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/10 More of Day 2
They had a section of clothes and saw my mom’s closet there in many sizes and colors everything thing they had out she had bought already! ok Ma I think you have enough now! They had odd items around the outside and then they had a section of beauty products and a small rack of kitchen products. The biggest section was the jewelry section. It was in the back and full of different items. The coolest part was a table that had Diamonique rings on it (For those who don’t know what it is … its man made high quality imitation diamonds but they are set in sterling, 14K white or yellow gold, or sterling that is platinum clad) I was trying rings on and thinking to myself my mom has everyone guess I will just borrow hers Well here is where my cliff hanger comes in…
While looking at the rings a pair of ladies walked up to the table and they were looking at the rings and asked what Diamonique was how could they price it so reasonable. So just chatting as I was looking I told them how its man made and all that I just said above. I also was saying how my mom has most of if not all the rings on this table and she loves the quality. Well as I am just trying on a ring and saying that this Grumpy Lady walks up and tells me “I work here and I can explain what it is...you don’t” I looked at her like she was insane and went on to finish my thought well that just made her madder and she again spoke up “I work here I can HELP with any questions” well I put the ring back and the two ladies and I walked out. I was so mad. I called my mom and she was angry that they would act like that. She told me to complain to the manager and as I am talking Jana is standing there and looks scared like she did something. I hang up the phone, march back inside and ask for a manager. A nice lady named Val comes out and I calmly explain that I am out here on vacation my family (ok so just my mom) shops on QVC and know the level of service that is supposed to be given by their customer service representatives. I go on to explain that my mom owns most of the things they sell in the store and how neat it was to be there. I then mentioned that I was made to feel unwanted and hurt by how I was talked to and went on to explain that I was just chatting while looking at the rings like you would if you were in a clothing store and looking at a rack of clothes and being friendly. I explained that they had asked what Diamonique was and how could it be so reasonable. I explained that I wasn’t trying to steal a commission just being chatty. Val apologized explained that they are NOT on commission and that she would speak with the associate who I could describe down to the shoe what she wore as it all was sold on QVC and my mom owns most of what she had on! (yes my mom is a shopaholic) I didn’t raise my voice and I just stated how it made me feel and how if we didn’t really like the products that the service I received would have turned me away. She took the situation and turned it around just by listening and went on to hold an item I needed to get the next day for me. While she was putting the item on hold the associate that had been rather rude came over and asked if Val wanted her to take care of it of course Val said and I left once the order was all set.
I got outside and Jana asked what happened I told her and we shook our heads! As Stephanie on Full house says “How Rude” ! So done with QVC we walked around the 1st floor and stopped in a few stores. We walked by Rainforest and Troian was mesmerized by the fish and so knowing I had a Rainforest Card I could get a Priority Seating I asked Jana if that would be a good choice to have dinner at. We all decided to try it and off I went to put our names on the list. We got a PS for 5:45 and we went on to check out a few more stores. We made our way back to Rainforest as we approached the restaurant we heard my name and I went and checked in! Perfect Timing!
We were seated near the Gorillas and we attempted to get everyone seated. Troian was more content in her dad’s arms rather then the highchair and we officially hit the Terrible Two Tantrums. (Sorry Jana she is still cute even when throwing tantrums ) Jana was getting a wee bit stressed but we still chatted. We ordered our meals. I had that Burrito again it was just too good! Sprite again to drink and we ate in between chatting and trying to keep kids occupied. Jana can explain more about what happened with Troian and security.
We paid the bills and walked towards Lego where she sent the kids and Nate. Lisa bought a few things in the Rainforest Gift Shop and Jana also shopped a little and we met the kids and decided we were pooped and needed to get back to the hotel. Jana needed to get the kids in bed so we said our good byes and I called our shuttle for an early pick up.
Well we made a good decision because as we walked through Camp Snoopy The hordes of teenagers there for homecoming were rushing into the amusement park! to the mall workers We waited for our shuttle and waited as bus after bus of teenagers unloaded and Lisa and I wondered how they could ride rides in stilettos.
The shuttle arrived and took us back to the hotel and we again met at the pool for some relaxation in the hot tub and chatting about a brewing trip to WDW in October of 2006! After some pool time and hot tub time we made our way up to our rooms and said our goodnights planning our time to meet for Breakfast. I went to my room and packed all my souvenirs and clothes I didn’t need so I could see what I could buy the next day. A quick jump in the shower and off to bed I went.
The Best Thing Today…Meeting Passporters for lunch
The Worst Thing Today…Learning I don’t work for QVC.
The Funniest Thing Today … was buying eye shadows called Hottie and Desire!
The saddest thing…Saying Goodbye to Passporters and Jana and her Family!
The weather.. Sunny and 80’s
Up Next …You want a full-set? French?
