As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Look out Cinderella and Tink, Brent and Liz are coming to Celebrate their 2nd Anniversary!
I’ve really been getting excited the past couple days for our trip to Disney world at the end of January so I thought it was probably time I sat down and started our Pre Trip report. My lovely wife Liz and I are going from Jan 26th through Jan 31, 2011 to celebrate our 2nd anniversary and we are staying at Pop Century. For those of you who don’t know us , a little background: I am Brent; Disney fanatic and Cinderella lover.
Cinderella is obviously my favorite Disney character. I will quickly share a few of those reasons. Reason #1 She is blond and beautiful. Ok, really that’s got nothing to do with it, but Liz and I met through Disney (met on Passporter actually!) Liz was very ummm independent and had absolutely no use at all for some mousey little blond girl sitting around waiting for NO man to come around. (Forgive me, Liz!) What Liz saw in me that made her give me a chance with her I’ll never know, but she did. We vacationed together and spent weekends together and over time her hard attitude toward men (well at least, me!) softened and we became more than friends, and eventually married. It seemed Cinderella was there for every single one of the major milestones in our relationship and she even helped me propose. I still can’t watch Cinderella the movie without crying and I’ve seen it a gazillion times. We even saw Middle School age kids put on a play of the Cinderella story and I got all misty eyed on that too. Guess I have to give up a few punches on my man card for all this but I don’t care. I just love Cinderella and her story and I get butterflies in my stomach on each of our trips when I see her. Which is why we must go and see her several times during each of our trips! I also make T-shirts of my past meetings with Cinderella and the other Princesses and wear them in the parks. They certainly seem to get me a lot of attention. Last trip my affection for Cinderella just seemed to pop up everywhere! That’s a little bit about me, now for Liz. What’s there to say? I’ll let her give you good people her own introduction because she usually chimes in here with her ‘version’ of what happened after I post an installment of my trip report. She loves Tinkerbell almost as much as I love Cinderella.
I certainly don’t seem to have that much luck with Tinkerbell. She gives me a pretty good smack down on each trip.
I’ve referred to our past trips a couple times. For those of you who are new to us, here’s a couple links to our last few trip reports if you want some more background:

As I mentioned, these last couple days I’ve really been getting excited about our trip. I bought a couple things for our trip today and actually framed the pillowcase I had all the Princesses sign last January:
I bought the iron on transfers for our shirts and a new package of socks today. I always buy a new pack of socks to wear to Disney. Guess I’m just funny that way. Anyone else have any eccentricities like that? So anyway here we go!
On the evening of Tuesday, January 25th we will travel to a nice hotel with a pool right by the airport. We are booked on a park n fly package because we have an early flight and it’s easier to stay the night there, plus with them letting us park our car there, we save on parking and it actually comes out about even. Plus the hotel has an indoor pool and it just seems like you get to start your vacation a little sooner. Our flight on Delta Airlines leaves at 8:00 am on Wednesday Jan 26th. If all goes well with the unpredictable Winter weather we will arrive in Sunny and hopefully warm Orlando around 11:00. After we get the rental car, drive to Pop and check in it should be around noon. We will then head to the Hollywood Studios. Hopefully the crowds won’t be too severe and we’ll have time to hit our favorites at that park: Tower of Terror. Rock n Roller Coaster. Voyage of the Little Mermaid. (This one makes me teary eyed as well). Would also like to see The Beauty and the Beast show, I saw it for the first time in it’s entirety on our last trip and I was blown away. It was awesome! Also want to hit the Movie Ride and walk through Walt’s one Man’s dream attraction. I’m thinking that’s probably all we’ll have time for before they close but I think we’re hitting the best this park has to offer. We’re off to Chef Mickeys from here. Almost wish we were eating at 50’s Prime Time again on the off chance we would get my favorite waitress, Sarah. I was her favorite at our table last trip and I enjoyed her so much I had to have a picture:
So that’s our arrival day! Stay tuned for details about our second day: Magic Kingdom and my first meeting with Cinderella, hopefully!! (And to a lesser extent, Tink)
Stay Tuned!
Brent
