Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Happy 2009 (almost)!
So, here I am on New Years Eve-- can't believe its going to be 2009! Ahhh I am going to be TWENTY SIX-- that means my age is closer to thirty than twenty, officially. Bleh. Anyways, I hear 30 is the new 20 so maybe it won't be so bad, this whole aging thing! lol!

Anyways, hope all had a great holiday! We did over here! We got an awesome new DKNY shower curtain (it was on our registry) a bunch of gift cards, some video games (Wii Fit, Lego Indiana Jones, Fallout 3), and blu rays (Tinkerbell-- loved it!!, Prince Caspian, Stepbrothers, and Dark Knight) some clothes and books and other wishlist items! Here are a few pics I wanted to share.

This is me and my niece on Christmas morning!

Rob with my bro's dog (my bro is in orange in the background) Sheeba in her new hoodie (which matched Liam's..lol)

And of course, my pooch with his hoodie and Mickey Mouse ears on! lol!

We also got him some glow in the dark tennis balls. Well actually I saved them from his winnings from the Halloween Costume contest to give him for Christmas. By the way, speaking of that and all those groceries we'd won, when we signed up for our new cell phone plan we sent in like $150 worth of rebates from verizon and I just started to get them back and they are Visa prepaid debit cards so we lucked out with more free groceries (and I got some free bath and body works)! Sweet right? I still have one more $50 one on the way and we have some Target Gift Cards from xmas so that is a nice little way to save some money!

Anyways, we have definately gotten a lot of wedding stuff done and I don't feel completely overwhelmed (as I did for a few weeks in the fall). I am starting to really put the images of what I want (and Rob wants) our wedding to be together in my mind.

Here is the update of things we have completed:
Date
Ceremony Cite
Ceremony Officiant
Reception Hall
DJ
Photographer
Engagement Party
Save The Dates
Purchased Invitations
Purchased Wedding Dress
Purchased Bridesmaid dresses

Need to do:
Mail out rest of Save the Dates
Take Pre-Cana Course
Meet with Priest
Meet with Photographer
Meet with DJ
Meet with Baker/Florist from Reception Hall
Finish getting Bridal Party/Groomsmen gifts (and probably something for our parents too)
Purchase our Wedding bands
Pick ou tuxes
Get fitted for tuxes/alterations on dresses
Favors
And my mom is gong to do the bouquets and make the Flower Girl dress
And I am sure I left out all the little odds and ends that will come up!

As far as Money Honey...
We have those few main sections:
Honeymoon, Photographer, Church, and Wedding Bands

Honeymoons total cost will (including flights) be around $2500... of which we have put down our $500 deposit leaving $2000 left

Photography we havent paid any (not even my dad back for the deposit) so we still owe approximately $3700

Church we found out that the Pre-Cana courses are only $200 total of which we are going to use my prescription co-pay reimbursement check from 2008 to pay for it so that leaves us with the $400 fee for the ceremony site left

And I havent even began to look at wedding bands. Honestly, we both like the simply white gold and in a worst case scenario we could not get them engraved to save money. Im not worried.

So we have $6,100 left to pay AND have paid out only around $700 thus far. My plan is to be able to pay off the rest of the honeymoon with our tax returns. Save the photographer money, and depending on what our returns looks like either use taxes to pay for the Church or save that addtionally. That means we are looking at actually dishing out between $3700 and $4100. Heres hoping that all works out! lol!

Also, we sat down and made a list of all the places we would like to visit and a lot of the stuff we put down matched up! Here's what we came up with... in no particular order (kinda)...
1. California (both)
2. UK (both)
3. Japan (both)
4. France (Me)
5. Italy/Greece (Me)
6. Las Vegas

So I think we are going to go for California first with a little trip to the place where it all began! I am hoping to go over my Spring break in 2010. Since we have our upcoming wedding/honeymoon this summer, than Rob wants to go to Pittsburgh to see a Penguins game (and we will prob go for the weekend) in the Fall, and I have a few Broadway plays I want to check off my to-do list I think it would be both feasible and fun. I actually already ordered a copy of the Deluxe refill for Cali! LOL! I know, I am crazy!!!

Also, just cause I just remembered it-- for the Bridesmaids so far I have gotten each one a necklace (not for the wedding but for everyday wear since the dresses dont really need necklaces) and I think I might get them these for wedding day: http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.as...rep_delivery=1
My mom sells Avon and I ordered myself a pair to see how the packaging looks. I also want to get them these cosmetic mirrors: Glitter Galore Compact for your Bridesmaids - Exclusively Weddings
and some kind of little kit with shower gel and stuff in it. I thought I could give them the mirrors, bath stuff, and earrings at the rehearsal dinner and then the necklaces aftewards. I dunno. Not sure for the boys yet- I like the idea of cufflinks but feel like we would need to get something else as well. May have my mom make us all tshirts for the rehearsal dinner too... and I have found loads of cute flower girl and ring bearer stuff.

Okay anyways now I am rambling! Hope that was an update enough to keep you guys going for a few weeks! I will have table cards done probably by the next update as well as some of the other little odds and ends!

TTFN!
