Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Cool Beware Disneyland: PassPorters Are on the Loose - *Updated 6/8/07*

Okay, I have been so negligent on starting this trip report. With less than seven days until I board my plane, I made the executive decision to procrastinate my work duties and begin. So…without further ado, here we go!

Cast of Characters

Me-Dawn
Tina (loobyoxlip)
Janine (FanofMickey)
Sarah (DopeyGirl) and Miss Emilie
Terri (DrDolphin)
Crystal (crystalloubear) and DH Doug (honorary bagman and skirt wearer )
Eileen (Caldercup)
Karen (zacksmom_1993)
Sharon (PrincessSharon)
Robin (RobinKay6573)
Cindy (Lumieregirl)
Liz (EmpressLizBunny)

Way back in March 2006, I see a post from about a possible girl’s only trip to DL. Having just come back from my very first trip out west to the original, who was I to say no to this opportunity. I didn’t even have to give it a second thought. I posted that I was definitely interested. Over the next couple of months, plans began to solidify. I bought my plane tickets at some insane early time but got a decent price through Northwest for non-stop flights both ways. I am arriving early on February 27th with Eileen and Karen picking me up at the airport and leave out mid-morning on March 4th, taking the shuttle back to LAX.

The time frame eludes me at the moment, but Tina and I were messaging back and forth one day and we both asked if we wanted to room together on this adventure. We agreed and decided that we would try for a theme park view room at the Grand Californian. Off I went to email and call my mom (my travel agent) to get prices for the group of us. In the meantime, Janine joined our party so now we were able to split the cost 3 ways. Mom gets back to me within a week and gives me the lowdown on the pricing. A few more messages go back and forth between us, and we decide we can swing the theme- park view room at GCH if it goes three ways. I had my mom call in the reservation, and we are set. Right after Christmas, I bought my 5-day Park Hopper under the deal of "Everyone Plays for the Kids Price" offer.

Over the next month or so, we had a couple of chats to nail down the places we wanted to eat so priority seatings could be made. We also decided that many of us wanted to do “Walk in Walt’s Footsteps” tour. Tina took care of the group reservations for us and Karen took care of the breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen that I’m joining her, Eileen, and Sharon for. to you both! I called Disney Planning and had them set up to schedule three places for Tina, Janine, and myself for the tour. At 30 days out, I get a voicemail stating that this has been completed. Everyone else going on the tour piped in on the boards stating they had gotten spots for the 9:00am tour on Wednesday, February 28th. If you hear reports on CNN that a tour guide went screaming from the parks on that day, pay no attention to it. It wasn’t our fault. Eileen designed a fantabulous t-shirt design for us on the tour. Still have to get that printed out and ironed on but should be done before the weekend.

So here’s the basic itinerary:

February 27th: Flight leaves Indy at 7:00AM and arrives at 8:44AM (Gotta love time zones!) –Dinner @ Tortilla Jo’s with the group.

February 28th: Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Tour @ 9:00AM; Dinner @ Blue Bayou with Robin and Cindy

March 1st: Breakfast @ Goofy’s Kitchen with Karen, Eileen, and Sharon; dinner at Napa Rose with the group.

March 2nd: Day open; Taping of “Two and a Half Men” with Crystal, Doug, Terri, Tina, and Janine.

March 3rd: Breakfast @ Storyteller’s Café with the group; Dinner @ Hook's Pointe (Thanks for the reminder Tina!!)

March 4th: Head to airport for 10:00AM flight and back to the Indy.

I’m sure there will be some spur of the moment meals in there and lots and lots of pictures. We definitely have some shutterbugs in this group so there will be tons of “proof” available. My must-dos are Remember, Block Party Bash, and Aladdin. I missed the latter two on my first trip and don’t want to this time around. Of course, all the big rides are calling my name as well. Hopefully, the FP Queen will be giving lessons on this trip. Still have some last minute items to pick up, start a packing list, load the iPod, check the camera gear, pack, and oh yeah, finish all those work projects that seem to continue to pile on my desk.

I do not want to leave the pre-trip portion of the TR without a shout out to my hubby. Chuck continually puts up with my trips without him. Trust me, he’s not a saint in all this as he already has plans for when I’m gone those six days. He’ll have all the time in the world to play PS2, watch ESPN 24/7, eat as much fast food that he wants, and gets the bed all to himself, minus the space Miss Ana takes. However, I’m lucky enough to say that he takes these trips with friends or family without him in stride. While I’m on this trip, he should be hearing about the job he interviewed for back in January. So girls, on top of celebrating the fact that we are all together, there might be some more celebrating to do if the news is what we think it’s going to be.

Well, I will bring this portion of the trip report to a close. Can’t wait to see all of you REAL soon, as I’m sure this will be a trip full of memories with only a few (HA!) hilarious moments.
