As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The Big Disney Birthday Bash Trip Report Updated 11/15 - The Birthday Bash trip finally begins.
Day 2, Part 2: Lots and Lots of Pixie Dust
When we got out to Fantasyland we put the kids on Cinderella’s Carousel.
Shannon on Cinderella's Carousel
Erin & Molly on Cinderella's Carousel
After she got off the carousel Shannon took her turn trying to pull that sword out of the stone.
Then Katie gave it a try
Jimmy left to go to the locker we had rented to get the clothes we had brought for the girls to change into but when he got back Katie & Molly refused to get changed and stayed in their dresses until we left MK later that afternoon. Erin took Shannon to the bathroom to change while my DFIL bought Katie & Shannon pink Mickey ears with their name on the back
and then the girls (with Erin) got in line for Dumbo while I waited on a bench (ahh one of the few joys of having a teenager no more Dumbo line )
My Mom & Dad caught up with us while the kids were waiting in line for Dumbo (has anyone else noticed that no matter how empty the park is the wait for Dumbo is always 40 minutes?, there was virtually no wait for anything else but Dumbo was a 40 minute wait ). After Dumbo, we headed over to Peter Pan (which was my favorite ride as a child) and there was a posted 5 minute wait, so my Mom got out of her wheelchair to stand in line (she hates to take advantage of the wheelchair lines when she doesn’t have to and she can stand for 5 minutes) the wait wasn’t even that long and we were off to Neverland. I had Molly with me and she waved and clapped through the whole thing and of course said “again” as soon as we got off! After Peter Pan Carol called and said that they were finished their breakfast so my Dad walked over to the castle to get them so they wouldn’t get lost again. We had been on our way to It’s a Small World but my Dad asked us to wait since that is his favorite ride at MK. Instead we walked over to The Adventures of Snow White and got on that in no time as well. The kids loved it, I don’t think we got on this one last time we were there because the wait was really long so this was a first for Shannon & Katie (and of course Molly). I love the Seven Dwarfs so this one is always a treat for me. Carol, Cathy & my Dad caught up with us just before we went into Snow White so after it was over we headed back to It’s a Small World. We got right on because we had to use the wheelchair entrance (Cathy has Down’s Syndrome and is unable to walk far at all. She can stand and walk far enough to transfer to a ride or get a pic with a character but that’s about it so we had two wheelchairs.) I didn’t realize until I saw it again how faded the colors had been before the refurbishment, it looks great now, the colors are so vibrant. This is an old favorite and such a nostalgic ride for us so we all really enjoyed it.
After IASW Shannon & Katie were hot so we decided to go on Splash Mountain to cool off. My DFIL said that he was tired so he left to go back to the room to relax and then my Dad said that his stomach was hurting so he went in search of some antacids (he has an ulcer and when he gets worried, which he was about Carol & Cathy getting into the Princess breakfast his ulcer acts up). So Jimmy, the girls & I, my Mom, DMIL & Carol & Cathy went to Splash Mountain. My Mom & DMIL decided they didn’t want to go on so they stayed with Molly while the rest of us rode. This was the first time Katie was tall enough to go on Splash Mountain so she was really excited. My Mom had kept a “front of the line” certificate from 1995 when Erin was too small for this ride but we didn’t use it because we had to use the wheelchair entrance with Cathy so we got on pretty quickly. This ride is so great, I always forget how much I love it until I get on it again. Katie loved it, I think it is now her favorite ride. We got just wet enough for it to be refreshing but not annoying.
Front Row: Shannon & Erin, 2nd Row: Me & Katie, 3rd Row: Carol & Cathy, 4th Row: Jimmy! Doesn't Shannon look terrified? She wasn't though she loves this ride!! You can't really see poor Katie because Erin had her arms up in the air !!
When we got off Splash Mountain Shannon & Katie said they were tired (so was I) so we started heading toward the exit. Outside the Diamond Horseshoe Revue we saw Woody and Jessie and got in line for autographs and pictures. Molly was fine until we got close and then she started screaming and crying so my Mom took her out of line and Erin, Shannon, Katie & Cathy all got their pictures.
As you can see Molly was NOT getting in this picture, apparently Princesses are fine but characters in costume are NOT!
Erin, Shannon & Katie (no Molly ) with Woody & Jessie
Cathy hugging Woody
Cathy & Carol with Woody & Jessie
We continued out onto Main Street where Carol & Cathy stopped for a PhotoPass picture in front of the castle. When got near City Hall we saw Mickey, Minnie & Pluto at a character greet in the center. Jimmy thought maybe Molly would be more receptive to Minnie Mouse so he got in her line with the kids while I went in search of the barber shop since Shannon & Katie (especially Shannon) desperately needed haircuts and I had run out of time to get it done at home. I couldn’t find the barber shop and finally had to ask a CM who pointed it out to me – duh I guess the huge barber shop pole in front of the store should have tipped me off . I got back to the character greet just in time to see Shannon & Katie get their picture taken while Molly cried in Erin's arms on the sidelines. No she didn't like Minnie either!
Shannon & Katie with Minnie (the sun was in their eyes)
Then we walked over to get Shannon & Katie’s haircut. They did a fabulous job on their hair, Shannon likes her hair so much she wants to go back every six weeks to get them to do it again – oh I only wish I could !! After they cut their hair, they put it up and gave them lots and lots of pixie dust. They gave Molly some too even though she didn’t get her hair cut.
Katie getting her haircut
Shannon getting her haircut!
Katie with her hair done
Katie with her pixie dust!
Shannon with her hair done and pixie dust (she was really tired and in a bad mood for some reason)
Molly with her pixie dust
At this point we were all exhausted and Shannon was really cranky and kept complaining that nobody was even noticing her because she wasn't wearing her dress anymore but they were making a big fuss over her sisters and that was annoying her and an annoyed Shannon isn't alot of fun so we left the park to go back to the POR for a nap before going to Extra Magic Hours at MGM that night.
While we were waiting for the bus Molly put the stickers that she got at the barber shop all over her face for some reason
When we got back to the room we found a cool towel animal and also found out that Cinderella can apparently read ! (Thanks everyone for the advice to give the Mousekeepers a tip every day instead of waiting until the end of the week, this was just the first of many things the Mousekeepers did for us).
Next: Day 2, Part 3: Will Shannon ride Tower of Terror? will Katie?, will Molly like Playhouse Disney or will she be afraid of Bear?, will Erin ever get any real ink in this trip report? Find out in the next episode of The Big Birthday Bash trip report !! Sorry guys I was watching a rerun of Soap last night !!
