We Can Fly, We Can Fly, We Can Fly......We Flew Trip Report - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After Nemo, it took some convincing but I finally got Abby and Lenny to agree and try EE. I promised them after riding it, I wouldn’t ask them to go on it again if they didn’t like it. Neither one was convinced they’d like it or even do well on it but they agreed. We went on it, we all survived (barely according to Lenny ) and I have the picture to prove it on our Photopass. And while waiting in line to get the photo, someone said my name. It was Beth (Hstrygrl) and we talked while waiting in line to get our photos. The conversation just flows well - mostly Disney - but it’s always like seeing an old friend whenever I’ve met fellow PPer’s. While talking with her, she told me that we wouldn’t be seeing her at GG Thursday night. They would be having dinner with her Uncle that they hadn’t seen in years instead of eating in Epcot. Even though it wasn’t when we had planned on, I was happy that we still got to meet anyway. It’s always great to put a face to a screen name.
After we went our separate ways, we went to Kali River Rapids. Abby was finally ready to ride it. When we got to the part where the wheelchairs go, the CM asked Lenny if he’d be able to walk on a moving platform and he said yes. Since he hasn’t gone from that point (where wheelchairs turn) to the platform (like Abby and I have), I spoke up for him and told the CM he can walk on it, but he wouldn’t be able to walk to if from where we were. She then let us down the wheelchair ramp to wait. This time, even in the shade it was hot and uncomfortable so it was kind of hard to wait our turn but wait we had to.
We finally boarded with another family and one of the other family members actually asked the CM "if no one is waiting when we came back can we stay on for a second ride?" We all kind of looked at the CM and he answered "if no one is here, I’d be okay with that happening." We went off on the ride and Lenny, Abby and I are the ones the went down the ramp first. That water felt so good that day. The other family didn’t get as wet and I felt kind of bad for them. They did get hit with some of the other water, but not like us.
When we got back to the platform, a different CM came up to us and said since no one was waiting, if we wanted we could go a second time. We were all happy about that and said yes. The second time the same thing happened. Lenny, Abby and I got soaked again but it still felt really good to be cool. Going back, we joked with the other family that maybe we could go a third time so they could get soaked. They hoped so but when we got to the platform the second time, there were people waiting so we had to get off. We were happy with the two rides we had (who wouldn’t be happy with getting wet twice?) and had no problems getting off. It was actually good timing too if you ask me because by the time we crossed the bridge over the river, we heard it thundering.
It was mid afternoon by this time and even though we didn’t want lunch, we were kind of hungry so I stopped and got us some Mickey Pretzels and sodas. After eating those we headed to Camp Minnie Mickey for FOLK and on the way there, it finally started to rain . We didn’t have to wait too long in it before the doors opened for the show. Every time we’ve seen this show, we’ve been in the Elephant section but not this time, we finally were seated in the Giraffe section - not that it really matters where you sit. I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house. I still prefer Nemo over this show but it was good to be out of the heat, humidity and rain.
When the show ended and we left, the rain had stopped and because the character greeting trails were closed, most everyone left the area.
We didn’t only because Lenny and Abby needed the bathrooms. By the time they came out thought, the character greeting trails were opening. We were second in line for Donald because Abby wanted to get his autograph. After Donald, I asked Abby about Chip and Dale and she said she didn’t want to get in line as she would see them the next night at GG. I was okay with that then Lenny pointed out the very obvious "Abby, if you get in line with them, you’ll get them both in one pictures instead of by themselves." Oh yeah. I didn’t give Abby any choice at all, I told her we had to get in line for them. Maybe because she liked what her dad said (both together) or maybe because since no one was in the area, the line was extremely short (maybe 3 or 4 families in front of us) but whatever the reason, Abby couldn’t wait to get in line for them. They are so funny - we had really good interaction with them and when the handler mentioned they didn’t have hats, I took mine off and said they could borrow mine. Dale took Lenny’s from him and proceeded to put it on his nose instead of his head. With some help (from Abby I believe) the hats got put in the right places and we got a picture with them like that as well.
After Chip and Dale, I stopped to see who was in the third trail and it was King Louie and Baloo from Jungle Book but Abby’s never seen the movie and I personally have no interest in those characters so we walked past and left Camp Minnie Mickey. By the time we got to the entrance to the land, it had started to rain again and it was coming down pretty good . It was also lightning out too as at least one CM asked us to be careful with the umbrellas while it was lightning out . Abby didn’t let the rain bother her for a change and told us she wanted to do ITTBAB. I still don’t like this show but I’ll do it for Lenny and Abby. Especially since it was an indoor attraction and it would get us out of the rain for a few minutes. Like in the past for us, there was no line and we could walk right in for it. It was still pouring out when we came out of the show and Abby decided she wanted to leave even though it was only 5 pm and go to dinner.
