We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler the TR! 9/24-9/30/2010 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

9/28:
We tried to make it for Park Opening, however made it a half hour late. It's ok though. After we took the Ferry Boat over to the MK, went through bag check, and the turnstilles, we took Skyler for his first Hair Cut at the Harmony Barbershop. Michal did a wonderful job on Skyler despite Skyler being difficult. We did learn that Michal's brother graduated from the same HS as my mom and all of her 5 sisters, as he's from the Chicago Suburbs too. Skyler's haircut was $15 and a $5 tip. Well worth it and well worth Skyler's tears.
After Skyler's haircut, we stopped for pix in front of the Castle. We headed into Fantasyland for FP for Peter Pan's Flight. Dumbo had a 25 minute wait, so that followed to get our one ride in. With our FP for PPF, also came FP for MPM. After Dumbo, we rode Pooh's Honey Pots, as that had a 5 minute wait. MPHM had no wait all day long. We tried to hand those FP to someone else, but they weren't needed (they'll go in our scrapbook). We then headed back to our 11:30 ADR at CP. Skyler made friends with the lady opening the door. She gave us maps for later for MNSSHP. Our server was Terri from none other than Virginia. She was super sweet and was quite efficient with our drinks. Mom got Skyler some Mac & Cheese, Chicken Fingers, & Broccoli. He was loving the Mac & Cheese at WDW I tell you. Mom loved it too. Mom then went up to get herself some food, and I followed after Eeyore & Pooh came to visit our table. I couldn't miss my most lovable, huggable Bear, especially since that's whom Skyler gets his love of Pooh from, his Mommy. Eeyore happily obliged to sign an autograph for DSil, and Pooh gave me lots of hugs too! Skyler didn't want to let Pooh go.
I got food after Pooh and Skyler was antsy to get out of his High Chair when he saw Tigger. He couldn't wait for Tigger to come visit our table. Piglet shortly arrived, and also happily obliged to sign an autograph for DMIL whom absolutely loves Piglet. I here had ordered a cake for the 3 of us for our Birthday's, however Terri, had mentioned we would have lots of leftovers if we still wanted the 6" cake, and said she could bring out 3 cupcakes instead, at no charge. We opted for that instead, as the cupcakes were plenty with all the other desserts. She did bring out the cupcakes, cards signed by the characters (oh yeah we had Mickey Confetti on our table too, however Skyler wanted to try to eat it, so it was quickly scooped up and placed in my backpack), and they sang "Happy Birthday". 2 TS Credits were used for this meal, and well worth it. Also a $15 tip was left for all 3 of us, and mom paid her portion OOP.
Following lunch at CP was meeting Aladdin & Princess Jasmine, whom I had to ask if Abu was up to mischeif, and Aladdin mentioned he was busy getting into trouble in the Market. Princess Jasmine loved Skyler's Tiger portion of our Skyler/Mommy Buddy System as it reminded her of Raja. We then headed to the Enchanted Tiki Room, which Skyler didn't care for too much and wanted to stay in his stroller, not sit on one of our laps through this. We then moved onto PotC, which had a 5 minute wait. Skyler loved this. Pirate Goofy was nearby, so we stopped to meet him. He loved Skyler's name of "Foof" for him, and even tickled Skyler too. We then saw Captain Jack Sparrow outside for the Pirates Tutorial. Mom needed a bathroom, so we went in search of one. We then made our way to Frontier Land and rode HM and went back to Fantsyland to ride PPF with our FP and then to MPHM, which were not long waits at all. After getting out of MPHM, we were exiting to a torrential downpour. We decided to wait it out in the Gift Shop, and then my legs needed a break. We ran across the way to PVH and found a table. Skyler & I shared a Kids Cheese Pizza Meal with Grapes & a cookie, & coke for me. I paid $5.45 OOP for this snack. It was still pouring, but then let down to a drizzle. We had asked a CM in PVH if one of us could run to City Hall with all of our MNSSHP tickets to get our bracelets and they told us yes. I trekked it up in the drizzle all the way to the front of the park, and then was told no. I did stop in LeChappeau for some Embroidered Traditional Ears for Skyler & I, as well as Jack Skellington Ears for MNSSHP, and I found my Bridal Minnie Ears (which mom thought I was crazy, but I did have to remind her I am married, so it's not like it's that outrageous).
Mom did call me to let me know Skyler was sleeping and since I was up front of the park, to go ahead and ride Space Mountain while I had the time to myself. I got in line although it said it was a 30 minute wait (15 minutes was more like it), and had an awesome time through space. I headed back toward mom & Sky, and he was still out. We made our way to SGE for our Bracelets & Trick or Treat Bags. Skyler didn't move a muscle. We also met 2 other CMs from Virginia in that area. We then headed over to Cosmic Rays just to sit for a little bit and relax. We watched Sonny Eclipse, had a few bio breaks (alternating waiting with Skyler), and got dinner. I got the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken Meal, with Mashed Potatoes, Greenbeans, a coke, and Carrot Cake, and the Kids Uncrustable PB & J Meal with grapes, & carrots, & water for Skyler when he woke up. I did ask for an extra plate so I could share my meal with Mom. It was plenty of food for the 2 of us, as I can only eat a 1/4 of chicken. Mom even tried a bite of Skyler's Uncrustable and thought they were pretty good. They were setting up for the Dance Party, and Skyler woke up right in time to eat some dinner, and dance a little bit with Stitch, Pluto & Goofy. He had a great time. Sorry not too many pictures were taken here as I couldn't get Skyler dancing with the characters. He didn't want to go.
We next headed to BRS which we had more fun shooting targets. I had the high score for us of 80,000 and mom with 40,000. Skyler had fun spinning us. We then headed over to the Peoplemover and enjoyed a nice leisure ride on here. We then headed to the Hub for spots on the curb for Boo To You. No Horseless Headman this night because of the weather, or the Villans show at the Castle. Skyler got fussy and needed a pull up change, and mom insisted I change him right there and then in the general public. We loved the parade, however we had a very obnoxious little girl next to us who wouldn't stop dancing in our way, and wouldn't move out of the road. Her mother was no better, and her hand showed up waiving to all the characters in almost each and every one of my pictures of the parade. We loved the parade and Skyler waived to the characters he knew.
We made our way to the area of the Partners Statue, however couldn't get our picture taken there. We were able to sit on that wall for the Fireworks (I have some pix turned into video using my new camera and new tripod which I hooked onto Skyler's Stroller handle). We ment a sweet couple from SC who were celebrating their Anniversary and chatted with them while we waited for the fireworks. Mom loved the parade and fireworks and thought the MNSSHP tickets were well worth the money just for those 2 things. My jaw dropped in amazement over the beautiful fireworks, which didn't scare Skyler one bit). We then headed back through Adventureland and saw Tarzan, Jane, & Terk out, and waited in line to have our picture and autographs with them. We then proceeded to meet Timon, tried to meet Geenie & Abu (only got pictures taken of them, not with them or autographs as their line was way too long), King Louie & Baloo. We then hit some candy stops, saw Captain Hook & Mr. Smee, however they needed to go to the Parade. We tried going through Frontier Land, but the parade had just started. My feet were killing me, so we went back through Adventureland for more candy, and tried to exit through Main Street , but the parade was still going. I did stop in the Emporium to look for the Dooney & Bourke purse I wanted. Found a large tote and purchased it. We had to wait a few minutes for the rest of the parade to pass on Main Street before we could exit the park. We headed back to the Ferry as everyone else were heading for busses or the Monorail. We made it back to mom's car at 11:50. We pretty much lasted til midnight. After getting back to our room, we were all ready to pass out.
