As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Our 14 day Cruise on the Magic *Day 9 added*
Day 10, 8/29/05 Monday
We had another day at sea today. After breakfast at Topsider’s My Mom took the boy’s to family kite making at 10am & then took Ryan to the pool while Matt went to the Lab for animation with Ducky Williams. Tim & I went to a Disney behind the scenes presentation on the Expedition Everest rollercoaster at Animal Kingdom at 9:45am. Disney Imagineer Gary Landrum gave us a behind the scenes look at the development of the ride. It was so cool. I mean I always knew Disney did an amazing amount of research & work to make their rides authentic, but he showed us movies of the Imagineers on actual research trips to the villages around the real Everest & then what they came up with for the ride, & it was unbelievable. We also got a little glimpse of what the ride will be like, but said his boss wouldn’t let him give away too much.
After the presentation we met my Mom & the boys at the pool for swimming & some lunch.
The boys in the Goofy pool
Max was by the Goofy Pool & Matt got a picture
Ryan also played in the Mickey pool & Ian from England, a member of the cruise staff, joined him. Ian was so much fun. He was great with the kids & on more than one occasion joined them in the pool fully clothed.
Ryan & Ian in the Mickey pool
At about 3pm the boys went back to the room to stay with my Dad while Tim, my Mom & I went on a galley tour. You meet in Lumiere’s & a member of the kitchen staff takes you on a tour of the galley that connects Lumiere’s & Parrot Cay. It is really neat to see how they manage to prepare all that food everyday, & it is so clean & organized. We then headed to the room to get ready for dinner. On our way to dinner we stopped in the atrium & Matt got some pictures with the characters.

Matt, Chip, & Dale all dressed up for formal night
Dinner tonight was in Animator’s Palate & we had the “Prince & Princess” dining menu.
Ryan was really tired tonight
My desert. A white chocolate slipper filled with fruit flavored moose.
Tonight’s show was “Twice Charmed an Original Twist on the Cinderella Story. “ It was great. The basic story is Cinderella’s stepmother’s evil fairy godfather turns back time & fixes it so the Prince does not find Cinderella. She then tries again to get the Prince to marry one of her daughters. Of course this is a Disney show & there is a happy ending. The show was wonderful, but almost as exciting as the show Roy Disney himself sat 2 rows in front of us to watch it! He had boarded with his wife to transit the Canal with us. Call me crazy but I was in awe being so close to someone who was actually related to Walt!
After the show Tim, Ryan & I explored the ship & did some shopping while Matt retuned to the Lab for Stormin’ the Lab & Ghost stories. At 10:30pm Tim & I went to the Buena Vista Theatre to see Fever Pitch & Ryan stayed with my Mom. We got back to the room about the same time Matt returned from the Lab, & Ryan was sound asleep in my Mom's room.

Up Next: Curacao & No I guess you don’t have to get off the ship.

I love reading what your boys enjoyed on the ship, especially the little one who won't get his photo with the characters! That just made me laugh to see all the photos of your older son with them, like he's an only child! Glad to hear he's getting his cruising dollars worth of the Oceaneer Lab!

Re: Our 14 day Cruise on the Magic *Day 4 & 5 added*
I finally had a chance to catch up with your trip report, and I'm lovin' it! When we were on the Magic in June, we met the creators and some of the cast of Twice Charmed (in a hot tub actually. ) We absolutely fell in love with the show, and my son and I are constantly humming the songs from it. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

Re: Our 14 day Cruise on the Magic *Day 4 & 5 added*
Day 11, 8/30/05 Tuesday
We received a wake up call from Mickey at 6:30am & we could already see Curacao from the veranda. We went up to Topsider’s for breakfast. Our plan for the day was some shopping & sightseeing, so we studied the shopping guide given out by the ship while we ate. Matt was complaining about having to go shopping & wanted to know what was going on in the Lab. I agreed to let him stay on the ship while we got off, but he had to stay in the Lab. No checking out! My Dad was staying onboard also, so I wasn’t too worried, & letting him stay in the Lab was better than listening to him complain all day. So Matt headed to the Lab for fun in the Lab, make a mouse pad, shuffle board & stroll the promenade, lunch, & make an animation cell, while Tim, Ryan, my Mom & I disembarked.
We got off the ship & took a ferry across to the shopping district. You can normally walk across on the Queen Emma pontoon bridge, but it was closed for restoration, so they were providing free ferry service. Curacao is a very pretty island. We walked around & browsed through quite a few stores. We bought a couple water toys for the kids to play with in the pool, a t-shirt for Tim, & a bottle of blue Curacao liquor. They had an outdoor market right next to the pier where people were catching fish, cleaning them, & selling them. Talk about fresh! We walked around for a few hours & it was HOT! Ryan was also very anxious to get back in the Mickey pool, so we got back onboard around noon time.
Ryan & I in Curacao with the Magic in the background.
A street in Curacao
After we got back on board I went to the Lab to see if Matt wanted to go to lunch & the pool with us. Of course not, he rather stay in the Lab, which was fine with me, so the rest of us headed to deck 9 for lunch & swimming. Matt met us later & we spent the afternoon in the pool since it was so hot.
About 4pm we headed back to the room to get ready for dinner. Tonight was pirate night! We went to Studio Sea to learn to draw Mickey Mouse & Winnie the Pooh then on the way to dinner we stopped in the atrium & Matt got his picture with Stitch.
Pirate Matt & Pirate Stitch
We were back in Parrot Cay for dinner tonight & we had the “Pirates IN the Caribbean” dining menu.
Pirates Matt & Ryan ready for dinner.
After dinner Matt went back to the Lab for Mayan Aztec Mexican Youth Trials, ice cream sundae making, & Stormin’ the Lab. Tim, Ryan, my Mom, & I went to Studio Sea to learn Pirate line dancing, then to the Walt Disney Theatre for tonight’s show. The show tonight was Susan Egan, the original Belle of Broadway performing. She had a beautiful voice & sang lots of Broadway hits. I only got to see about half the show though because even though Ryan said she was good, she just sang too much. I guess all singing & no action doesn’t amuse a 4 year old!
We went up to deck 9 to stake out a spot for the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party that started at 9:45pm. It was so much fun. The party started with lots of music & dancing until Captain Hook arrived & took over. Of course Mickey took the party back & saved us all in the end. They had a fireworks display that was really nice, & of course a buffet.
Welcome to the party
Yes that is a watermelon
The party didn’t end until 11:30pm so after that we headed back to the room to wait for Matt to return from the Lab.
Tonight’s towel animal from Derrick
Up next: The Muppets & I had no idea the crew was so talented!
