Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What a great report! It's making me want to go right now, today! And it's not too much description, even for this DL veteran! Emilie is so cute with the maps! Jack and I've been known to spend an afternoon pouring over our old park maps!

Sarah, that was quite a day! I have to say there doesn't seem to be much for little ones to do at DCA, though. I really hope you post another installment of your excellent TR before my trip!

Re: DopeyGirl goes to Disneyland!!! THREAD 2 --- Day 4 Part 2 -- UPDATED 8/6!!!

Great update Sarah. Your trip by the pictures and your decriptions sounds like you were having a wonderful time.

As for your no habla ingles line cutters, I can tell you that I am at least 99% certain they spoke perfect english. We had this same thing happen to us at the Main Street station. We had been in line for awhile with some others in front of us. There was a family group on the opposite side of the loading area they were speaking english the whole time we were waiting. As soon as the train pulled up they tried to cut in line between us and the people right in front of us. A CM caught them doing this and told them they had to go to the end of the line. They replied no habla ingles. The guy in front of us called them a &*^&^%*& liars and told the CM that they spoke perfect english. It amazes me how dishonest people are.

Re: DopeyGirl goes to Disneyland!!! THREAD 2 --- Day 4 Part 2 -- UPDATED 8/6!!!

Ok now I am caught up and whoa am I tired!! That was a full couple days!
#1 - you are nicer than me - I would have thudded the dude with the stroller
#2 - you are again nicer than me, I would have gotten into a major confrontation with the "no habla englese" people. I used to supervise a bunch of guys that would try that "no speak english" crap - I would calmly say "Then you won't know that I just told you that I'm docking your pay today" All of a sudden they knew english - funny how that works.
Anyway, can't wait for more trip! Ice cream for dinner - that's the good part, right??

Re: DopeyGirl goes to Disneyland!!! THREAD 2 --- Day 5 Part 1 -- UPDATED 8/12!!!

DAY 5 PART 1 – June 26, 2005 – How much is that witchy in the window?

Up and around again at 7:30 . . . I am not sure WHY I automatically wake up around that time while I am on vacation but I have trouble getting up anywhere NEAR that at home . . .

We headed up to the breakfast terrace and grabbed some stuff to munch on. I was happy with toast . . . they had some chocolate chip muffins, but they were just NASTY!!! I thought about a bagel, but I only eat them with peanut butter and they wanted to CHARGE ME $.75 for PB. No thanks!!! Toast with grape jelly will do just fine for me, thanks! I think mom and dad choked down some bad donuts and coffee and Emilie had half of an apple and half of a banana and some apple juice.

We went back to the room to grab the stroller and our backpacks then headed across the street. The plan for the day was to finish seeing everything in DL Park that we hadn’t had a chance to do the day before, revisit things we wanted to do again. We thought we might get back over to DCA to try and get on Soarin’ Over California, but we never did make it.

Since I didn’t post it for the previous day . . . here’s Disneyland’s guidemap!!!

Since we didn’t get to Toontown (on time) the day before, once we were inside the turnstiles (just after 9:30am), we headed into the train station and hopped on the next train around to Toontown!

Waiting at the New Orleans Square train station for more guests to board . . .

Welcome to Mickey’s Toontown!!!

Our first stop was Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. It showed a 5 minute wait, but it was actually a walk on . . . last time I was there, it was an hour (plus) wait at least, but then, it was 11 years ago and pretty new in the park!!! Emilie started whining in line that she might be scared . . . she was “fake” crying once we started to get in our cab, so one of the CM’s offered her a flashlight to take along in the ride. She stopped whining and made it through the ride just fine!!!

Our next stop was the Toontown Post Office. We must have stood in there and turned the knobs on Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Roger Rabbit, Jessica Rabbit and Goofy’s mail boxes for 5-10 minutes. Goofy’s mailbox was upside down . . . and they all said some funny stuff!!!

As we came walking out of the post office, we spotted Pluto coming our way so we lined up . . . or rather “crowded” up . . . to get a picture and autograph!

Then we noticed Goofy coming out as well . . .

After we’d visited with both of the dogs (and dad and I had the conversation about why Pluto doesn’t talk and walks on 4 legs, but Goofy DOES talk and walks on 2 legs . . . ), we headed further into Toontown . . . we stopped at the “service station” and Emilie hopped in the car for a photo. It was just about her size!!!

We noticed Minnie standing on the porch of her house, so we queued up to see her. It was only about a 3 minute wait and Emilie was telling Minnie her life story (you think I’m joking, don’t you? : ). This was our first time having a DL photographer take her photo and I was kind of depressed that they are still doing the old “take this slip of paper to the photo place” thing. I guess I am just spoiled by WDW’s PhotoPass!!! The only way out was to go on through Minnie’s house, so in we went! Emilie took a moment to try out Minnie’s bed and we both played with her answering machine and in her kitchen. Mom and dad had opted to wait outside for us to go through the line . . . they must have been wondering what was taking so long while we were in the house!

Minnie’s house

Next it was on next door to Mickey’s house and back to meet him in his movie barn We wandered through his house then headed “out back” and into the queue in his movie barn. We waited about 10 minutes and our group was taken in. They were only taking 4 families in at a time, regardless of group size. The 3 other groups with us were only 3 or 4 each, so that was nice, although we did feel a little rushed to get in and done . . . but it’s Mickey and it was a MUST that we stop in and say hello!

Mickey’s house --- under the Toontown sign

Hmmmmmm . . . doesn’t look like this doggie door did it’s job!!!

Toontown was starting to get a little crowded and Emilie didn’t really want to ride Gadget’s Go Coaster (even though I promised her it was JUST like Goofy’s “Barnstormer” . . .) so we headed back up to the Toontown train station and took the train all the way back around to New Orleans Square. We hadn’t ridden a complete circuit on the train (and we promised Emilie we’d ride all the way around) so, we thought this was a good time!

The best shot I could get from the Primeval World diorama along the railroad route!

Once at N.O. Square, we headed back into Critter Country to ride Pooh again. There was a 10 minute wait (and not-so-friendly CM’s) this time. We noticed that the wait for Splash Mountain was ay 75 minutes, so dad and I resigned ourselves to the fact that we were probably just not going to get to ride it this time When we got off of Pooh, we saw that Tigger and Piglet were out, and we would have liked to have gotten pics with them since we got the others the morning before, but there were HORRIBLE crowds around there. So we just moved on . . . walking (feeling like sardines) through Adventureland . . .

Speaking of crowds . . . this was a SUNDAY!!! We were trying to figure out where all of these people were on Saturday . . . “WHY is everyone here TODAY?!” Well, despite the crowds, we pressed on . . . Emilie had her mind set on Peter Pan’s Flight, so we headed into Fantasyland. The wait posted was 35 minutes and I would say it was just about right . . . it might have been only 30 minutes. While we waited in line, I just kind of stared into outer space and happened to look at the window above Snow White’s Scary Adventures . . . and noticed the curtains open up and the Evil Queen glaring out!!! Then after a few seconds, the curtains would close . . . and a few minutes later, they’d open back up again and the Evil Queen would glare out again. See . . . sometimes it pays to just stare off into space!!!

After Peter Pan, I hopped into The Mad Hatter and bought a Disneyland ball cap for myself, since I could feel my forehead frying again, depsite loads of regular facial sunscreen AND my SPF 15 makeup. And I picked up an infant size golden Mickey ears for Emilie’s tiny head . . . and had a bow added to the top. I had purchased a youth and and adult size ears before we left (which she ahd my dad were wearing when we first got to Anaheim), but the youth size was ENORMOUS on her (but they fit me! )!!! The infant sized ears fit just right PLUS they have an elastic band to keep them on. Note to anyone buying ears . . . if you have a smallish head, buy the youth size . . . infant size if your child has a tiny head . . .

It was nearing lunch time so we headed over to the Village Haus restaurant (counter service). We eventually found a table (after walking in circles for 10 minutes) and sat down. Mom and dad waited in line for 30 minutes (that’s from the time they got in the line to the time they came away with the food)!!! I told you, everyone in So Cal was at Disneyland that day!!! Dad and I went with burgers again, Mom had a chef’s salad that was HUGE and Emilie ate a whole personal pepperoni pizza!!! Judging from the menu at Village Haus, it sounds like that might be where WDW is trying to go with Pinnochio’s Village Haus (adding pizza etc.). All of our meals were very tasty . . . and we were SHOCKED that Emilie would eat a whole personal pizza!!! DANG . . . she must have been HUNGRY!!! I mean, she only weighs 30 pounds . . .

COMING UP LATER TODAY: “I wanna go in the whale, mom.”
