As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Mamapajama\'s Star Wars Weekend Day 2: Epcot
Day2-Saturday May 20th: My original plan was to do am EMH at AK this day. But we decided on Epcot instead. This is Craig’s favorite park and since he is getting a little bored of WDW I wanted to appease him-plus we wanted to do Soarin’ again!
We had a Mickey/Stitch wake-up call at 6:30! We were all pretty beat but we, of course, got up! We showered and dressed and we at the food court by about 7am.
Craig & I shared a Western omelet, Craig had oatmeal, which he doctored with the brown sugar & raisins they had out, and the kids had tie-dyed toast and split a breakfast platter. We also bought a mug. The total was 23.73 after the DDE discount. We saved 2.57. The discount did not come off the mug.
We were at the bus stop by 7:40 and a bus pulled up 5 minutes later and we were off! Our plan was to get FP’s for Soarin’ then ride it and then head over to the other side for TT & M:S. About half the crowd had the same plan! But we walk fast! This worked really well. We were held at a rope up the Spaceship Earth & the opening family drove up in a Test Track Car! Funny! The CM who was on the Segway entertaining us while we wait had the little robots you make in Innoventions and Sam ended up getting one! After the Character bus came, we walked behind the CM’s over towards Soarin’. We rode Soarin’ but this time we asked to be in the first row. This is SO much better up front. The experience is much better up higher & no dangling feet! I am surprised at the complete absence of Soarin’ merchandise. I didn’t see one thing!
We then headed over to TT, which was already broken down! Weird. So Logan and her Dad rode Mission:Space. Once last trip was enough for me & Sam so we played in the exit area. Then we headed over to TT got FP’s and rode it. We then stopped off at one of the new Kidcot Stations they have now in Future World. They are at TT, outside the garden Grill in The Land and in Living Seas.
By this time it was time for our Soarin’ FP and we rode again and did the Kidcot thing again. By now it is snack time. DS had choc milk and a Quaker Breakfast square (brought it from home) DD had a milk box & Nutri-grain bar, both brought from home, DH & I both had bars and coffee/tea. We did not do Living Seas this time so we headed over to World Showcase, stopping for some pictures of the topiaries. ( In this picture,I'm holding the bag I bought at The Disney Store. It's filled with pictures from our last trip. I got so many compliments on it. They had a similar one in the shops at WDW.) We started off in Canada and Sam bought one of those leather bracelets with his name & a Mickey rivet. Then we moved on to the UK where Logan bought a pin & I bought a bag of pin backs because we always seem to lose them! We took some pictures and crossed over to France. We never spend too much time here.
We didn’t really go into any of the Pavilions, just walked around. We stopped in the US area to get Jessie’s autograph & watch the band. Then we got a lemon slushie. Tart! And we took some pictures in Germany. When we got to China, I went in to buy the little purse I’ve been eyeing for many trips. It was a black satin Chinese food container shaped purse, embroidered with flowers with a bamboo handle! When I went back out DH had gone back to get a drink at the Outpost & came back with watermelon and a strawberry slush. We ate the fruit & started to walk but he started to feel dizzy. We sat him down on a bench and I decided he was dehydrated & I got him a bottle of water. It then became my mission to see that he was properly hydrated .
We rode Maelstrom. There was actually a line! I have never seen a line for this ride! We waited about 10 minutes and rode.....nice A/C! We then stopped in Mexico for some nachos for a snack. At this point we decided to head back for a swim. We saw some Fantasia characters by the fountain. Two pink hippos & a flamingo. One hippo was off to the side bothering a guy sitting on the railing. She was doing ballet moves in front of him using the railing as a ballet barre. It was pretty funny! Then the kids took pictures with her & the flamingo.
On the way out we decided to do a Leave a Legacy tile. I had thought that we got one free with the AP but the CM said that ended in January-oh well. We decided to have the kids do it. Craig & I really regret not doing the Walkway brick at MK so we wanted to do this. The kids picture came out really cute and we were off. we took a few pictures of the topiaries in front and then went to the bus.
We had lunch at Pop: 2 Coronas, 2 Chicken Strip meals, 2 Chicken wraps, a kids mac & cheese and a salad. For $34.23-we saved $8.89 with DDE. We accidentally ordered an extra chicken strips meal, Dh & I got our wires crossed. I wanted one adult meal & the kids macaroni & cheese for the kids to share but he misunderstood & got them each a chicken meal while I was over getting the kids meal. So we pigged out!!
We then went back to the room and changed. I had left some money in the decorated envelope with a Lindt truffle for the maid. She had done some silly stuff with the stuffed animals! It was now that I realized I forgot to pack my bathing suit! Oh well no swimming for Mommy. Everyone else changed and I filled up our mug and met them at the 90’s pool. Since was mid-afternoon now & the pool wasn’t too crowded. We sat at a table: shade for me & sun for DH and we both napped while the kids swam. After a little while we headed back up to the room.
We headed back over to MGM again for a little while. Sam wanted to do the Padawan training again but Logan decided she didn‘t want to wait in the sun (she had gotten a little burnt). So Craig & Sam waited and Logan and I went into the Hasbro area where they used to have counter service restaurant. They had little tables set up to play with the Star Wars Attactix toys . They tables were surrounded by plexi glass with spaces cut out in the bottom so you could put your hands in to move the toys. Logan and I played a bit & then the boys joined us. They also had an area where you could test the new video game where you use a light saber to fight someone of the tv. We decide to not wait for the Padawan training again & rode Star Tours.
At this point we were pooped and were heading back when Sam decide he wanted a Count Dooku light saber. And we also bought him a SWW tee shirt. It started to drizzle and we stopped under the overhang of a store by the tip board. It was raining pretty good for a few minutes but then stopped. And then we headed out. Logan and I went back out for ice cream & by the time we got back, Sam had fallen asleep so his Dad ate his scoop! Then we all fell out! It was only around 9:30!
Next up...MGM and the last day of SWW. Do you detect a pattern?

Re: Mamapajama\'s Star Wars Weekend Day 2: Epcot
Elise, I'm usually the one that forgets her suit. What a shame. You guys were really cooking at Epcot. It sounds like you got almost everything done. LOVE the Fantasia characters. How cool. Hope we get a chance to see them. Can't wait for the next installment.

I'm confused - according to everything that I've found, that discount should STILL be active!! Could you just have had a sloppy CM???
Love your TR!!! More, please!!

Re: Mamapajama\'s SWW Day 3 added MGM/DTD LONG
Sunday May 22: This was the last day of SWW. We were up at the usual 6:30 and were out for breakfast by 7am. We had 3 oatmeals, a banana, OJ & a watermelon cup for 12.12 saving 2.85 with DDE. I had brought “to go” cups from home....coffee cups with lids so we didn’t have to drag our refillable mugs around with us. Whatever we didn’t drink we poured into the cups & DD ran them back to the room.
We were on the bus by 7:45 and on our way again to MGM. We about third at the turnstiles and waited. We were waiting for the Stormtroopers and soon they arrived. They did a little shtick about our shorts and tees, something about our uniforms or something, I can’t really remember.
When they let us in there were 2 holding areas: to the left, before H & V, went those wanting to wait for collector stuff (there was a separate line at Tatooine Traders for that) & those who wanted FP’s for autographs. At the rope at the hub, we were told to the left is the “light” side and to the right was the ‘dark” side. We had seen the light side the other day so we headed to the right to Mickey Avenue. It was pretty empty over there. We were able to get pics with Stormtroopers, Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, Jango, Zam Weissel (some female bounty hunter from Episode II). It was great! After that we went back over to the light side and got any autographs we hadn’t gotten but still missed Mace Windu, and Shaakti.
We did the 10:30 Millionaire show, which was the first of 2 SW themed shows. It was cute...there was a Jawa in the audience. The contestant in the hot seat who “had run out of time” the day before came out & it was another Jawa! Apparently they were brothers or something. But he lost on a question about the creatures who kidnapped R2 & 3P0 and he deliberately answered “Ewoks” and got kicked out!! Very funny. The first kid in the hotseat was all decked out in Jedi robe & then needed help on who owned the Millennium Falcon before Han Solo. He got it wrong & I knew he was a wannabe!! The second guy got up to the second level.
After this we headed over to watch the SW parade.
Logan and I then split up from the boys and did ToT & RnRC. She had previously gotten FP’s for ToT & RnRC was a 15-minute wait...not bad. We rejoined the boys for the 1:00 show of Lights, Motors, Action. (The first of the day.) I am glad we saw this but I was not very impressed. It was an insanely long walk to the theater and it holds what seemed like thousands of people. Personally, I will most likely not see this again. I’d much rather see one of the other shows. Getting out of the show was a nightmare and virtually brought that entire side of MGM to a standstill all the way down to the gates. Many people left after that show (us included). The bus stop was pretty full but we got on a bus (had to stand though).
When we got back to Pop we had lunch (saved 6.96 with DDE) and then went back to the pool. It was a bit more crowded this time because it was earlier in the day. We managed to get a table and I did some laundry. After we were done, we went back to the room and the kids showered while DH & I went to the pool bar & had a foofy drink. Then we showered up & headed over to DTD for some shopping.
The first place we stopped was the Christmas store but we didn’t buy anything...then we found Goofy’s Candy Company. Wow! What a great place! The kids each got a Build-a-Drink. This store was yummy! They have a counter where you build your own treat. You can choose from an apple, 3 pretzel logs, four marshmallows on a Mickey straw, biscotti, a Mickey Rice Krispie treat or a Mickey Gingerbread cookie. Then you choose what you want it dipped in, milk chocolate, white chocolate, or caramel. Then you can have it rolled in nuts, crushed Oreos, sprinkles, crushed mini m& m’s and drizzled again if you want. The kids got the marshmallows & I got the pretzels & they were yummy! Next stop was the under $10 store where the kids each got a grab bag for 6.99. It contained a white seal beanie from The Living Seas, an invisible writer with black light pen, 3-d fireworks glasses, a mini deck of card then one had a windup Figment toy & one had a big WDW magnet. DD added it up and it was over $20 in stuff.
Next stop was the Lego store (DS is a Lego nut) He bought a SW Ep. III set & a SW Lego tee of the Millennium Falcon and some little SW Lego men with his own money. Then it was off to WoD to do some real damage!!! We bought tee shirts for the girls next door who were dog sitting, I got DH a cute “Jessica’s Chopper’s” tee, DD got a Cutie’s and a Tink tee, I got a HCOE mug and a key chain and we bought some key chains and some shot glasses for friends. We also were able to purchase a really nice Litho for $5. It got a little wrinkled on the way home but I am still going to frame it. We saved $20 with the AP discount. Then it was off to bed for us!!!!
