Anyone else ever have a problem with house cleaning services or lack of??? - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Anyone else ever have a problem with house cleaning services or lack of???
Just returned this week from our trip. We stayed at Pop this time around (not our first time at this resort).
We had issues with mousekeeping coming to our room to clean and restock supplies. ( we did NOT opt out of this service). I had to call twice to get towels and toilet paper and also ended up at the front desk for the lack of cleaning service. Very disappointed with Disney.
We went from Thursday 16th to Sunday the 19th with out a house cleaning member entering our room. Again I made 2 calls during this time requesting the service, towels and toilet paper.
We lived in filth for 3 consecutive day's. Not to mention no clean towels, no toilet paper and over flowing trash cans.
I had the building manager and the house keeping manager in my room Sunday August 19th to try to rectify the situation. Ummm, seriously when you've had to use tissue boxes and napkins from the food court as toilet paper better believe I'm upset.
In the end the room got cleaned and stocked with daily essentials but IMHO, it's a little late when you have gone 3 days without it being done until you raise the roof at the front desk and getting it done the day before we are leaving, its unacceptable!!!
Wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this before?? Totally the lack of service has me a bit frustrated with the amount of money we spend to go there.
I pay for a service at Disney, I expect the service at Disney.. Am I over reacting? I'm just so upset about the way it all was handled.
I’ve never experienced this, and I just can’t imagine such a thing. It all sounds really awful. It is hard to believe that any hotel, let alone a Disney hotel, would ignore multiple guest requests about cleaning and replacing essentials,
Wow! I am just shocked!
I just stayed at an Econo Lodge, a very low budget place, but cleaning personnel were out and about beginning before 8:00 AM both days I was there!
The same lack of service issues you mentioned were what we experienced in Aug 2017 during our stay at POP.
That breakdown in the housekeeping service, plus the more than a little bit shoddy condition of the room, prompted us to actually complain to a manager. Please note that we didn't opt out of the housekeeping either
(they were only months from starting a refurb ...so I guess they didn't care?)
However ...the manager actually came to our room to see the conditions and be told in person about the lack of housekeeping. In doing so, he saw peeling ceiling paint, and leaking sink plumbing ....and gave us 3 free days of a preferred room stay at POP in the future.

Believe me , I am too...shocked.
I have never had any problems staying on resort. I literally cannot believe after contacting them we still had the same problem for so long. Very disappointing!

Oh the manager was in our room. I'm not sure he knew how to handle me. I was infuriated by Sunday . I really got no where except the room cleaned and restocked. Wasn't looking for anything but a sincere apology would have been nice from him. Didnt get that just " I will get house keeping in here right now" which wasn't a good time for them as I was there to pack up and take a break. I wasn't looking to have to work around them or Visa versa!
We just got back from a 2 week stay at the pop August 4-18. Cleaning service was spotty at best. Had to call 3 times for lack of coffee getting restocked. After the last call, they finally had a special person leave coffee in our room each day. Our wall H2O soaps ran out twice and once the wall mechanism was not reattached causing the soaps/shampoo to keep falling.
We also got woken up in the middle of the night by sewage backing up in our sink because maintenance team was, no lie, using a toilette plunger to plunge a clogged sink in the room next door. I called to see if they could get stop the worker doing the work since it was causing a lot of noise in our room and making our room smell like sewage. They said they would, but after 10 minutes of it still going, I finally went to the room and requested that the worker stop what he was doing.
I also had an issue with a bartender at the pool bar. She tried to make my drink with the wrong alcohol. I believe it was intentional since when I pointed out what she did, she had to go to the back to find a brand new bottle of the alcohol that she had replaced with something else.
While the rooms were nice, I was not happy with the way pop was run/managed. Even the food court operation seemed bad. We usually took the bridge over to Art of Animation for food since the pop food court was so much slower.
I ended up filling a complaint with Disney after we got home and was given a 2 night credit to be used on a future stay at any value resort of our choosing. I was told this credit will never expire and can be used whenever we want.
ETA: We did also complain when we were there but the management staff did not appear to care that we were unhappy. That is why I filled out the form online when we got home.

I didn't know there was a form to fill out...I juat complained while there and really felt like not much was done to rectify the situation while we were there.
I'm just very disappointed in the way my situation was handled. never mind , that it even happened in the first place.
